I really don't think the 'new' DT is gonna sound a lot more like LTE.
They will probably sound as much like LTE as they do now. If anyone has
listened to any of JR's solo stuff, such as "Listen" you'll see how
different much of his stuff is compared to his LTE contributions.

lets think about this carefully guys before we rush into things... The diversity of the Jam's content is one of the things I especially like about the Jam. There is only so much DT content you can talk about, especially when the band is not touring or a new CD is not being released. I do think there is a little too much flames and irrevelant content, but a lot of it, especially about other bands, mp3, boots, web sites, and music in general, I view as a great source of information...
Even if you did create a new list... I think the majority of people would just stay in the Jam because it's easier than unsubscribing and subscribing to a new list... (people are just lazy that way)...
Anyway... that's just my opinion (PS. I'd probably just subscribe to both anyway... and I think a lot of people would do that too... so please consider the pros and cons...)

We have decided to follow your example and unsub from the Bitche Jam because some bitching is still going on. We also know of a lot of other people who feel this way.
Someone is trying to start it up against Derek again and someone else is trying to start on John Petrucci. Add that to the JLB bitching that was happening a while back and we think it is all totally unacceptable. We think the ONLY reason no one is starting on Mike P is because they know he would kick their asses for it and that he reads the jam regularly. It is only a matter of time before they start on John Myung and finally on Jordan.
Were you still on the jam when someone suggested starting a DT music theory list to discuss and analyse their songs musically? If so please let us know who it was. We have e-mailed the jam but don't know if the message will even get through or get a reply. Several messages we have sent recently have mysteriously disappeared while others have made it through, yet there is nothing wrong with the aol programme here.
We have included below the message sent to the list tonight and also copied this to Mike himself so he knows what some of the British fans think.

Hey folks, we've just been away a few days visiting the aged relatives.
Anyway, we've decided to follow Korg's example and unsubscribe because:
(1) Someone seems to be trying to start up the bitching about Derek again which was unacceptable to start with and is still the same. We were thinking of joining Korg at the time any way.
(2) Someone else seems to be trying to start some regarding John Petrucci and his attitude to the fans after the LTE shows. That is totally unacceptable. Perhaps he was just dog tired after all that playing? Gigs affect different people in different ways (from experience). Also he seems a little more shy than Mike Portnoy (animal of the muppets!!)
(3) There was someone who mentioned starting up a Dream Theater music discussion list to include theory and analysis of their songs, etc. We will look through some back digests to try and find out who it was but meanwhile, if you see this message, please e-mail us British musos because we would love to hear from you and join a list like that.
(4) The recent bitching about JLB was also unacceptable.
We are sure there are plenty of DT's actual fans on the list and we wish you all the best and hope to see you on the suggested NEW LIST some time soon, where we can all get away from the constant sniping of the bitche jam.
Just hanging around long enough to see this post make it through and we hope to hear from the jammer who wants to start that new DT list. Anyone who knows who it was, please e-mail us.

This is an unmoderated list. It moves where it will, within a few guidelines. If you don't like it, start your own list and don't let the door hit your ass on the way out.
As a matter of fact, I'm begging you to start your own list, if only to get yourself and other pests of your ilk out of here.

This whole thing is moronic. Why in the world do you care about a list of other people's favorite bands? I can see how discussion about different bands would be interesting, but a simple list? An FAQ consortium is horrible idea. Anytime something becomes a group project, it becomes that much more cumbersome. A single person with a line to the band is the best way to go, because it is streamlined.
And, if Skadz needed help with the list, he would ask for it, and he certainly wouldn't ask you. It's not your place, or anyone else's but his, to ask for help.
