OK. I see where you're coming from here. I love LTE, but I certainly
don't want the next DT CD to be an LTE style thing either. I do assume
SOME of the sound from LTE will carry over, which is great - but I also
want "DT99" to be a fuller, deeper, more meaningful work than LTE's
    "Jammin' chops" kinda feel.

OK, here's my question: Just because DT is gonna write and record at
the same time, that doesn't necessarily mean that they're making the
album "in the same time period" (a week) as LTE (as stated above), does
it? I mean, is it conceivable that they'll be in the studio for 2 or 3
    weeks writing or something?

Also a note: Assuming that MET p.II will be on the new disc (and I'd
practically bet my life on it), keep in mind that's already 25 or so
minutes written there. So that leaves only 45 minutes left to write if
they're gonna make another 70 minute CD. And who knows, they may have a
few more songs already roughly written, or conceptualized or whatever.

i quote from the welcome letter i received upon subscribing to the jam:

    "THINK BEFORE YOU POST"

Maybe you should follow the rules, yourself. The letter i got when i subscribed on 15 January of this year made no mention as to restrictions against Top 10 lists. I would be happy to send a copy of this letter to you -- just let me know.

    Furthermore

    >NOBODY CARES WHAT YOU LIKE!

you're wrong. i can't count the number of bands i am a fan of -- Dream Theater included -- that i had never heard of until someone else's recommendation. We all have one thing in common here on the jam -- a love of Dream Theater's music. So why not spread word of our other likes -- as long as they fit the definition of "somewhat related", as defined in the afore mentioned welcome letter. Other bands people like, i'd call somewhat related; discussions as to the benefits of the NHL moving out the goal line and shrinking the goal crease -- Not related, but open for debate in another forum. It's lists like these that might help jammers discover a new musical talent that they might not have heard of otherwise. Where are we supposed to hear about great new bands -- MTV? No. Radio? No. Word of Mouth? Absolutely!!

So let's keep the personal attacks quiet (they are forbidden in the letter you felt compelled to read and quote from) -- until someone knows me personally, they have no right to call me derogatory names. And let's keep the intelligent discussions going.

If you'll remember, on Jordan's page, he has a little diary of how the original LTE sessions went. He said they were going to jam over some cover material (THIS DiMeola tune, and a Zappa song), but didn't do it in the end because they clicked and churned out original material very quickly. So, maybe they worked it in to a new tune just for the hell of it - wouldn't surprise me!

There basically is such a list, though it's not populated with the brightest people on God's gray earth. (from what I've heard from reliable sources) It's called The Mirror, and I believe it's moderated by Lisa Marie Peterson aka Jessie. I'm sure she has more info on it.
