    Hello.

I'm wondering if any of ye kindly Jammers could help me out in acquiring
some Pain of Salvation MP3's? I desperately need something to tide me
over until the Laser's Edge gets them back in stock! I'm looking for
any songs from either album except "Inside" and "Inside Out" which I
    already got from their webpage.

    Thanks in advance,

I actually lucked out and found an Afterlife CD single... no such luck on the
Status Seeker though... I think those are pretty rare...

Got my hands on a couple of CDs too great to miss...

James Murphy - Feeding the Machine: Following the path set by "Convergence", Feeding the Machine has very heavy songs (5 vocal/5 instrumentals) with Deen Castronovo (drums) and Steve DiGiorgio(bass). (By heavy I don't mean DT Awake-heavy, but more like death metal-heavy) On the album there are around 10 guest musicians (Matt Guillory, Vitalij Kuprij,...) giving their contribution to the songs (quite a lot of lead work). For those who like "Convergence" the album is a sure bet, otherwise listen before you buy, the sound of the record might be something you're not looking for.

Vitalij Kuprij - High Definition: If looking for some EXCELLENT instrumental, look no further than Vitalij Kuprij's work. The guy is incredible. The music is 100% pure keyboard/guitar orgasm (lots of solos and then some), not to mention that the songs are good too as long as you happen to like prog (now where did I get that idea?) Every keyboardist who doesn't have his cds has missed a LOT. This is the guy we'll surely hear a lot about in the future. Available at least from CDNow and Shrapnel ('High Definition' also from Kane in Finland). If this caught your attention, you might be interested in Greg Howe's "Ascend" (www.greghowe.com), axecellent guitar work w/ Kuprij on keys. As far as I know, the CD is only available through the website (unfortunately).

P.S. Does anyone happen to know any other solo albums by keyboardists with a playing style of LTE/Yngwie Malmsteen/Stratovarius etc. and, dare I say... VITALIJ KUPRIJ!? I'm not looking for any jazzy or other sideproject kind of things but something with fast solowork and maybe a crazy axeman as a sidekick.

His post was TRASH!! I'd put it in the TRASH CAN!!

    >>Any nomineees with hotmail addresses will recieve ten extra points. >>Let's see some serious voting! >> >>-Brian

Now here Mr. Harold Richards had a chance to say, "Brian you idiot! You can't even spell 'receive' correctly! I BEFORE E EXCEPT AFTER C!! BOYYYYYYY!!!"

But he didn't. Mr. Richards loses 10 points.

    > Right now, this list is really struggling with that. We have to end > the trend.

What we need, in the immortal words of Philip Anselmo, is a "Great Southern Trendkill." 10 points for Richards, back up to 0.

    > Brian has been the one slamming people really hard since the > day I joined the list.

You haven't been paying close enough attention. I slam everyone, just try reading my posts backwards and you'll see what I mean. But since I can't expect ALL enemies of Mr. Brian Hayden to read in reverse, you bump up by 10 points. Thus far you are crushing Mr. Hayden.

    > And just so you know. I posted a message last night, saying he > shouldn't call everyone assholes. "Suck me buddy" was his response.

Hey, the guy wants a little oral pleasure, can you blame him? How did he know he'd offend you by saying that? Isn't what he asked for something that many people value and seek to experience as much as they can? If someone e-mailed me and said "Give me lots of money" or "Blue cotton candy NOW!" I'd understand completely.

    > Maybe because I'm hotmail? No, I think he's just the jerk master.

Yes. The Jerk Master. Targeting such problem-areas as charisma and patience, this fitness machine lets you hone your nastiness towards others by exercising your unprovoked hatred. Advertised on late-night television by Howard Stern.

That phrase goes up there with "prime meat" and "fucking bananaheads!"

    > Brian, I don't like you, but that doesn't matter. I'm just one person. > What matters is that I don't think many jammers like you at all.

Brian doesn't care about top ten lists, how can he possibly care what *I* think of him??

    Hi all

here's a quick review of a CD I picked up recently. It's not exactly new (realeased in 95), but I think it might be of interest to some of you.

    NOISE BOX - Nuffnutz

This EP contains so many musical styles all mixed up that it's almost impossible to list them - metal, industrial, hip-hop, samples, jazz, funk, they are all in there. Try and imagine Nine Inch Nails being involved in a nasty car crash with Rammstein and Die Krupps.. Throw in several gigabytes of weird samples, and some mean and heavy guitar riffs (especially apparent on the 2nd track "Monkey Ass"). Still with me? Make the whole damn mess very, very danceable and voila - Nuffnutz! Guaranteed to piss off almost all purists who can't stand the idea of so many genres being mixed, but I think it's brilliant. Possibly hard to find, but well worth looking for if you're after something very original and refreshing. My favourite "lyric" from the album: I reckon you should shut the fuck up and play some music. Dare I mention that the band comes from Seattle? 9/10

stay safe and happy listening Neil Gallop (nga@software-ag.de) Currently playing: My Dying Bride - 34.788%...Complete

Hell yeah! I'm there. That would be a fantastic show. No one that I know of in northeast Ohio has ever heard of Superior, so getting to the front of the stage should be a breeze.

What about a new Dream Theater tour with Spock's Beard? Maybe I'd finally get to actually SEE the Beard here in the states, instead of flying to the left coast or overseas to the UK. yeah right, like I'd ever even consider leaving the states. But that's another topic. On with the jam, G.

This things looks very very cool, check it all out at:

More of this stuff should be on the net - but some of these family trees are really complex.

That tree and many other similiar ones were drawn by Pete Frame, who has produced several books of this nature, namely

The complete Rock Family Trees Paperback - 132 pages (31 December, 1993) Omnibus Press; ISBN: 0711904650

    More Rock Family Trees

    Paperback - 40 pages (30 September, 1998) Omnibus Press; ISBN: 0711968799

    find them at http://www.amazon.co.uk/

They are large format books, containing huge fold-out diagrams which cover the developement of a particular band or groups of bands, dating from the 60's onwards. They cover all types of music and are genuinely a pleasure to read.

The BBC has made one or two series of programs made around some of the family trees covered in these books although I've only every seen a couple - I think one was on Black Sabbath(??) but I certainly saw the one on Prog Rock which was transmitted in late November, last year. It certainly brought back some great memories - lots of stuff on Yes and ELP (though no Greg Lake). Fantastic stuff and stuff deserving of a much wider audience. No doubt our profit-motivated BBC will find a way of selling the rights abroad or on video.

In the meantime, the book are available - they can be found easily at the larger HMV or Virgin stores in the UK and probably elsewhere.

I had my mum record the prog rock show on video, but before I am flooded with requests, let me find out if she hasn't recorded something else over the top of it.

I in desperate need of some new music to listen to and would like a few opinions on Fates Warning, since they seem to be a "cousin" of DT.

Just so you know, I'm not totally virgin to Fates. I have _Inside Out_ and IN MY OPINION thought it spewed ass-vapor all over my speakers. Any recommendations as to any *HEAVIER* stuff that they have put out?????

After about 10 jams full of 90% flames I decided I'd post about a few issues

    1) Derek is gone - this makes some people happy and some sad. We should all agree to disagree and get on with life.

    2) Female jammers getting itchy - I have to point out something to everyone "Jammer" is a term referring to someone who jams. It is genderless, let's move on with life. On the same note, I don't think that the Jam needs to hear about who is "cute". (recall a post a while back about 'they were the cutest ones at the show') If we all wanted to read about who is cute we could join the rest of the prepubescent teenagers and would be child molesters of the Hanson mailing list.

    3) Gay or not gay - Who cares? As far as the statement "He's gay because of the clothes he wears." Well my friend Scott is gay, he wears Hilfiger, Nautica and Levi's. I'd really hate to think that everyone who wears those brand names is.

    4) Opinions - Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. I would, however, ask that some people make some semblance at being somewhat constructive. If "this sucks" or "he sucks" or "that sucks" is the best and only thing you can possible think up then when your IQ reaches 50 you should sell.

    5) Consideration - see above. Let's at least try to respect someone elses opinion, whether or not everyone agrees with it. Reading flame after flame after flame after flame after flame about someones opinion is pretty much a waste.

I actually feel for the band members who read this list (from DT as well as other bands). I'm sure at one time they valued the opinions of the members of this list, or maybe even respected some of the list members (I think that the fact they release those nice Christmas CD's to their fanclub is proof that at one time they liked people) but with the latest turn of events I'm sure they feel a little chewed on. I'm not saying we should become like voices was (post after post of DT is great) but there should be a modicum of respect here.
