Has anyone dealt with cdword? I ordered 2 cds from them over a week ago and my order status still says "waiting for product." That's only supposed to last 2 to 7 days while they "gather the items together for shipment." I've emailed them and gotten no response. just wondering.

I also wondered that. Here's the thing: what would be the point of painting on the guys' head? that's just not practical. The process of doing so would not be self-evident, as it is w/the back photos, so there's no reason not to find an easier way. I suppose it's possible, but personally i find it highly unlikely.

    >I know that (at least) the majority of Storm's artwork is >photo images alone with very few computer touch ups.

Yeah, and there's always lots of nature and sky as your bg, and it's always something surreal, like beds on a beach. And I gotta tell ya, it's beginning to get to me. I didn't really love the division bell cover, and I flat out disliked the FII cover. Which, I think, did have computer work done on it.

The funny thing is, the ACOS cover is my all time DT favorite...and it's NOT a storm, but it looks like one, only better. I just looked inside, and it's Mike's concept. So now I'm wondering, Mike, where you integral in getting storm?? Did he see ACOS and give you a call, or something?

What a great concept it is, too. Jam yesterday, jam tomorrow, never jam today(except for ytsejam. huh huh).

The biggest punkass I've ever had the displeasure of listening to said: :-)

    >I too sent mike p. a copy of my LTE show, and cleared it with him if I could >put mp3s up on the internet, which he graciously allowed me. What I do have >a problem with however, is the fact that you're SELLING, not even attempting >to trade, these CDs for $25!!!! If you're not making a profit on >that...then the prices of CDRs are really high in your area.

Actually, I believe he did say "$25 or trade." Now, the only people that would actually spend $25 on a bootleg are 100% Grade A Choice Fucking Morons (almost as bad as the Grade A Fucking Assholes that would actually sell a boot for $25 or more) but this guy did say "trade" as well, so I couldn't really muster up enough ammo to blast him about it. :) The only thing wrong with this is if he wanted to get $25 WORTH of trading material for it (ie, you send 2CDs or more for each one of his LTE CDs), but I really doubt anyone would do that.

What Bogie is doing with LITS will hopefully be a major part of live material distribution in the future. MP3s (or whatever new compression formats arise) provide the perfect trading medium. Other bands (ie, those that allow taping) are WAY ahead of us in this area, but LITS is a start for us. It takes the power away from the Boot-Scalpers (and you pittiful hacks know who you are) and gives it back to the fans, which is the way it should be. In the near future (couple of months) I'll have the resources to get new boots from Boot Scalpers and put them, in their entirety, on the net in mp3 format. I want to do this pretty much as soon as they come out. My goal here is to spead the material and, very honestly, cut as much into the profits of Boot Scalpers as I possibly can. There's a whole boatload of people that agree with me and would like to help, so hopefully this idea comes about.

Hope everyone's doing well... Take care all...

Hey hey, I just wanted to mention that the three of us had the pleasure of watching Albert Lee play before Steve and I was pleasantly surprised. Though older, crewless, and forced to carry his own equipment to and from the stage, Albert Lee was a gracious performer with old-school chops that could awe many a shredder. We didn't get to meet him, but it was awesome to see someone who's been around so long still doing what he loved to do. Also, though silly Neil thanks me for giving him notification regarding the show, he and Nickole should be the one who truly deserve thanks. For anyone who knows California geography, they drove down from Redwood City to Carmel to pick me up and then back to Santa Cruz, took me home after the show, and drove home to get ready for work the next day. I wouldn't have been able to see Morse otherwise. Three cheers for Calicrew spirit, an excellent shredding friend, and BLUEBERRY BAGELS!!!!!!! Be well. Matt B

Is this Buckley character one of those one-man bands >with the accordion and cymbal-smashing trained monkey? Is that the album that has Buckley's version of Genesis' "Back in NYC"? (He did do a version of it.) After thinking about this solo album thread, I couldn't believe that I had forgotten one of my most familiar examples of a musician playing everything on an album. Bruce Springsteen's _Nebraska_ includes Bruce Springsteen playing everything you hear on the recording. This includes creaking chair, as it was recorded in his bedroom (or somewhere else in his home). Actually, it only includes vocals, acoustic guitar, and harmonica (plus the chair), since the recording was originally a demo tape for a full-band rock album. (It's history is rather fascinating, though I'm sure most around here deemed it unworthy of consideration when they heard every note came from Springsteen.) Interestingly enough, the album was marketed as "the solo album from Bruce," even though all of his previous five albums were credited to "Bruce Springsteen" and no one else. As far as John Myung being a verbose, anti-"silent man": I think the issue is somewhat confused. His tendency to speak clearly, fluently, eleoquently, and voluminously at times may be overlooked, but anyone who says that he is still essentially quiet and "introverted" (whatever that means) has a point. I was about to add a personal analogy, but I don't know if it's appropriate in this forum. Let me just reiterate that it's possible to be generally quiet while verbose and eloquent at times. That doesn't mean that it is unwise to think of the individual as quiet in a general sense. All of the above may be trivial, so I tried to keep it short.

Actually I was thinking the same thing! OK, the RMP tune is great but IF it was supposed (got that - IF) to be a solo improvisation than why not imrpovising, foolin' around ... That could do better than listenign whole RMP song! Of course, this fact alone does not arises the question "Can Jordan improvise good way?" but who knows ... ;) Just kiddin', but really, I would like to hear Jordan improvisation and see how it is? Imrpivisation can tell VERY MUCH about the musician and his talents, skills, fave style ...

On the other hand, if it was planned that tune to be played in the part of key solo - OK! MAybe Jordan wanted to insert some RMP material and get some more sales?! :)

It's kinda tricky issue this stuff!

Wanted or not, believe it or not, bands are always somehow praised by fans, they're being idolised! Typical normal fan, falling in love in a band's music and after a while he manages to see them line AND meet them behind stage! It's logical tha he would feel quite nervous and expecting a lot! In that moment if the musician ignores him in a worse way it leaves a scar in the fan! And it's a disgusting feling! Why? Because he had that "idol" image of him and then he got that slap in the face.

On the other hand if the fan isn't influenced in the "idol" way he might not receive i so bad but he will be kinda dissapointed.

And what's the artist side of point? He is human, as all of us, has his typical character (angel, asshole, shy, arrogant, cool..whatever) But he might feel pretty weird seeing those girls in the first rows tearing their throats apart, sweating, jumping, bumping in you to take as much photos as possible, being faced to 100 pens and CD liners to sign and some freak has just blinded you with his camera flash!

Heck, who knows how he feels in that moments. But IMHO 1 thing is sure: The artist should respect the fans, he should respect if someone was standing for 3 hours to get his signature! It doesn't costs him much.

As Bafu said (I guess that's what he was trying to), the artist should be glad to have those moments of signing, taking photos, chats etc. Because he receives "love" from the audience and in a way he is obliged to have respect toward them. If not, he is being arrogant! It's better if he finds it enjoyable to interact with the fans but if not, .. heck, hang on there for 15 minutes, after all thesde poepe are paying your salary - as one actor, the negative dude in "Specialist" - James sumthin' - put it) That's what I think. --

I have to second Graham's recommendation of Power of Omens as a really incredible band. These guys are from San Antonio, TX (I'm pretty sure!) and are really on their way to being a first-class prog rock/metal band. I've met three of the five band members, and all were very nice. While I don't mind the new fonts that DT is using, I sure do like the old one...

Something reminds me of my highschool years whenever I look at the font on the I&W. There is something so timeless about it.

But I don't mind if they move on to other fonts. Just as long as they keep their symbol. The must NOT loose that :) Otherwise, I won't be able to threaten my girlfriend with gettig it tatooed on my left shoulderblade anymore.

I know this has come up many times, but how many of you have DT related tatoos, and do you regret getting them?
