Well, until you can figure out how to post coherent, useful arguments and
statements, I fail to see the point of responding to your post. I
don't see any reason to respond to an argmuent that you aren't really
making because you don't know how formulate it properly. Come back when
you learn some basic argumentative skills.

Apparently Inspiration Corner features Radiohead. I wouldn't say they
sound like the Floyd at all. Floyd is more blues based. Their sound is
more reminiscent of Porcupine Tree. And, no, OK Computer is not a concept

Personally, I'd be ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED if Metropolis 2 isn't on the new
album. Seriously, I'd bet a few grand that it will be. And NO, I don't
have any kind of inside info...... just think about it though - why
wouldn't it be? It's already written (and RE-written with Rudess),
Petrucci has said it's the sickest song they've ever done (which is a
good thing to prog fans), and they know how bad their fans want it on
the album. What reasons would they have for NOT putting it on the
    album?

You guys are missing the most obvious clue that Mike already gave us. In the video, he says "Here's inspiration corner" and then aims the camera at a few CDs lying about: "Tommy", "Lamb Lies Down on Broadway", "Seargent Pepper", "Misplaced Childhood", "The Wall" and a few others. Hmmm....what do *all* these have in common?...

The new DT album will be a concept album. you'll see....

To anyone looking for the tenative list of dates for the Q2K tour here is the complete list that WAS posted on QR.com:

    Q2K TOUR Current Tour Schedule

OCTOBER 1999 29th-- Las Vegas, NV @ The Joint 30th-- Las Vegas, NV @ The Joint

DECEMBER 1999 2nd--New York, NY @ Beacon Theater 3rd--New York, NY @ Beacon Theater 4th--Boston, MA @ Orpheum Theater 5th--New Haven, CT @ Oglisdale Theater

And a small sample of some of the comments on the QR mailing list after these dates were announced:

    > > what the hell??? They've come to New Orleans with every one of their other > tours...why the hell are they skipping us now??? Damn, I'm pissed...

    and

    > I saw the tour date for Chicago.... I am skeptical about the arena that is > listed here. > > Beer comes in flimsy paper cups, so watch out! Pretty bad acoustics, and the > Aragon has earned its nickname -- the "Brawlroom" -- because, among other > things, of the folding chairs used for rock shows and their habit of leaving > their original locations.

    and

    > yeah, and they have the state theatre listed for detroit...... its a teeny > tiny venue...... theyve never played it here...... >

    and

    > Doesn't look like they are coming near me either. I used to make a 3-5 hour > drive to see them in Charlotte, NC or VA Beach. You are not the only one > pissed................ This is just not worth it anymore.

So it's not wonder they yanked the date down quickly.

I really wonder what is up in the QR camp these days. As with DT these days everyone in unexpectedly tight-lipped.

I guess well just have to wait and see. Actually I like surprises.

They're by definition irrational and illogical. Might as well just make fun of them.

Wonderful sweeping nonsense. And with such great logical foundation too! Makes sense to me, how bout you?

    > * Its funny how nearly all anti-religion replies are basically stupid, > undeducated trash that think > they can argue a christian out of his faith. it is also interesting that none

See above. It's not supposed argue a christian out his religion, just to belittle him for his closed mind and lack of vision. It's fun, try it sometime.

    > of these people seem > to have anything that gives them any credit- eg. i was once a christian but > then saw the error of > my ways, or something else. if you ever actually meet a christian and try and > argue against i think > your opinions may change substantially, because they basically have an answer > to everything.

If it makes you feel better I was raised Catholic. Then I had a sudden revelation that Christianity is a great big steaming pile of shit. I think it was all the science fiction books =). Once opened a mind doesn't like to close again.

    > * Whilst I am no expert on homosexuality i think that it is a sort of > 'disorder' or whatever you > wish to call it. I mean it just doesn't work. I have h.s. friends, in the same way as i have deaf friends and a friend > without an arm.

So a differing sexual preference is a serious disability... would you then equate someone who masterbates to a blind person? Or maybe a hetero with a preference for oral or anal sex to cancer? Is a bi-sexual only mildly disabled, or is that more serious than being homosexual? Is a dog who humps a person's leg afflicted? I'm just trying to understand the underlying rules of this bigotry. Maybe I'll play to. 'Curse the dirty fornicators! And they use that immoral birth control too! Good thing we have AIDS to wipe this scourge from the earth. SEX IS A SIN!!!!! YOU WILL ALL BURN IN HELL!!!!'

And, um, how do you reach the astounding conclusion that it doesn't work... That assumes a specific purpose for it... (/me imagines Johnny Gayguy coming out of the bathroom holding a 5 minute pregnancy test, "Dammit Bob, I'm still not pregnant, this just isn't working"). I can't say as I have any first hand experience, but from what I understand gay sex works quite well at what it's intended for. But then christians still believe that reproduction is the only reason for having sex. Poor deluded bastards.

    > * No i am not Christian.

Perhaps you're just confused then. Or have a few screws loose. You believe that nothing in the world is logical unless you're a christian, and yet you choose not to be a christian... At least most christians seem to be too oblivious to realize they're completely illogical, but you go ahead and choose it.

    > * Dream Theater are cool. No they aren... oh, um, I agree with you.... they are in fact cool. Congratulations.

and, mike said they're making the album they've always wanted to make. i think its safe to assume they've always wanted to put the song out, considering they wrote it and took the time to rewrite it when jordan came aboard. :) though i've heard people use that statement to suggest lots of things about the new cd, so we might be reading too much into it - it might be just the typical "this will be our best album ever" that necessarily comes from the band while they're recording it. i mean, of course the band thinks this will be their best album - it's what they've last written and feel is good enough to record. i would be quite surprised to hear from mike "yeah, this new cd isn't gonna be that great, you know, not nearly as good as images and words or anything, but not that bad." :) ok enough of me rambling. moo.

Whether or not I'm a christian, I don't think it's fair to refer to a homosexual as someone suffering some sort of 'disorder'. It's a personal preference, and even if your religion is against it, it doesn't make it a disorder. Sheesh, how outdated is religion anyway? It should be kept up with modern times, that yes, people have different sexual preferences. I'm sure some of you christians have thought (or have had) threesomes, or have been unfaithful, or have had sex using contraceptives, or oral sex, or sex for the purpose of pleasure and NOT solely procreation, etc... and all of them are not really accepted by religion. Does that stop you? No. Does that make you any less of a christian/believer? No. You just keep up with modern times. It doesn't matter how closely you follow religion as it is 'supposed' to be followed. It only matters what you believe. And how you perceive your supreme being. Everything else is irrelevant.

I consider myself more of an atheist than anything else. I could think that christians have a disorder, and really, could be called delusional because of what they believe in. But I don't think that. I know what religion is, and it doesn't interest me. I prefer a scientific explanation rather than something that to me, doesn't make sense. Maybe someday I'll change. Maybe I won't. The fact is, I accept people's beliefs, and don't think they're suffering from anything because of it. They're simply different. And different is good. Because without different people, man, the world would suck.

This letter is addressed to all those who feel the need to make sweeping generalizations about people who aren't like you:

    Either:

    A. Grow up.

    or

    B. Take your flames to alt.religion.christianity or alt.lifestyle.homosexual or wherever else these threads should be taking place.

For those of you who love to make fun of others on this list (people who have posted, "Hey, make fun of Christians, they are stupid. Or gay people are misled. Make fun of them."), it's those types of posts that create so much tension on this mailing list. I don't know about you, but nothing pisses me off more than some asshole who makes a sweeping generalization about something they know nothing about.

It's called courtesy folks. Treat others as you would like to be treated. No one likes to be made fun of, especially if you're ignorant towards who they are or where they come from.

So before you hit that "Send" button, before you are trying to be a wise-ass trying to get that last word in so you can win some meaningless e-mail battle on a discussion list, read over your post to see if you're offending someone. And if you're going to offend someone, look for some other way to make your point clear. Most of us have senses of humor, but there are some buttons you just shouldn't even try pressing.

    Think on these things.
