Yep. Neither band has a US label anymore - but they're both
awsome fucking albums. The new Tea Party (called "TRIPtych") takes themes
(I think) of "Transmission" and takes it to the next level. IF YOU CAN
FIND IT, definatly pickl it up. You won't be disspaointed.

It just makes me so angry that the world is not aware of this guy! His
former band Leb i Sol kicked so much ass, I can't describe it: jazz
rock, fusion, .. all spieced with Macedonian folklore elements.
Leb i Sol had few gigs in USA, New York back in 1991. Maybe someone
attended them?

Well, make that at least one more who has heard of him. Actually, Cyberduke kindly showed me this guy and I couldn't believe how much I liked him. He shreds when he wants to, but this guy has some GREAT melodic playing. The more I hear from him, the more I put him up there on the top of my list of favorite guitar players. Very tasteful melodic playing with a touch of shred.

No doubt. Especially in his old group, Leb i Sol, I think is where he's really amazing. Nice jazz-influenced ethno-rock, as I like to call it. I can't say I have heard anything like Leb i Sol, kind of like DT in how they throw influences in but make a sound all their own. They take the Macedonian folk influences, mix it with jazz and rock and come up with a sound all it's own. Not really prog at all, but there are some very odd rhythms with tight arrangements.

I just recently got the Trio album(thanks CyberDuke!), and I must say it's quite good. Mostly instrumental with a few vocal songs thrown in. Yes, nothing too progressive, but the arrangements are very interesting with the Macedonian and jazz elements thrown in with the traditional rock setting: guitar, bass, and drums. And the playing is just great overall, especially the guitar.

Yes, I'd definitely agree and recommend Vlatko to anyone who wants to hear some great guitar playing, check him out. He's a hidden gem in the guitar world.

This comes up occasionally, but I don't think it's very likely. For that to happen, one of the members would essentially be deciding to dedcate themselves to a single type of music. Since all the guys semm to have varied and eclectic musical interests, and doing DT *plus* side projects allows them to indulge them all, it just seems like an ideal situation for them.

Regarding pop tunes coming from 10 hours a day of concept album listening...
It's a little known fact that Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" was brought forth from two separate works...it's spiritual side from Yes' "Tales from the Topographic Oceans" with it's bombastic, epic feel from Rush's "Cygnux X-1 Books I and II". "Livin' La Vida Loca", which was written in part by Desmond Child, began life as a synthesis of Ayreon's "Into the Electric Castle" and Peter Himmelman's "Skin".

It's all a cycle, metal never died, just went into the underground for awhile...it seems in a way, at least to me, that nowadays almost any type of music is acceptable and in "style"...you can be a metal-head, fine, you can be a rap-fan, fine, bubblegum pop, fine, etc...for awhile in the 90's this wasn't so, it was alternative or nothing...it is good to turn on the radio though, and in one rock block I hear Van Halen, Scorpions, Aerosmith, Pink Floyd and Queensryche, while for awhile it was Nirvana, Nirvana rip-off #1, Nirvana rip-off #2, Pearl Jam, Pearl Jam rip-off #2, and so on...:) Can't get much better than that for me...hehe
As for the talk about the new album, I can't wait, though, I guess I'm not as fired up about it as I should be...I hate to say it, but Jordan worries me on keyboards...listening to him play, I just don't see how he's going to fit with DT...He's an excellent keyboardist, don't get me wrong, I love what he does on both LTE's...but he's so classically influenced, he just doesn't have that "groove" that I hear from some other keyboardists...Also, I don't think he'll help the image of DT that says they're a band full of Yngwie's...though I think Derek helped shake some of that off, but it won't be helped by Jordan, one thing I'll be curious about is if they retain some of the Pink Floyd influence that is so noticable in Awake and FII, I sure hope so...Now, this approach will probably benefit me, since I'm going in not expecting the best, I'll probably appreciate it a heluva lot more....as for it's content, I guess I'm about the only DT fan who isn't fired up about a Metroplis Part 2...hehe...I guess it's that I listen alot more to the music than the lyrics, and so I'm not too brushed up on that story...As far as it being a concept album, I doubt it...They tend to do more jamming, concept albums usually are much more polished than the usual jam-fest...:) Just a few thoughts that have been running through my mind lately...:)
BTW, it's been great having all this DT content lately...what's up with that???? hehe

Well... The new album could even be called "Metropolis" or something with that in the title, and just have the song "Metropolis - part II" on it.
And if it IS a concept album, the other songs may relate to the original song and expand on it. There's endless possibilities. Ultimately, we'll all just have to wait till that day in October arrives and run to the stores to pick up the greatly anticipated release.

Amen, brother. It's absolutely the same with me. Metallica played here in Bulgaria on 11.06 and it was abso-fuckin'-lutely incredible! Along with the DT 16.06.98 show, it's one of my best things in my life.

Well, there were Fuel, Bleeding Me, The Memory Remains and few others but they are kick ass songs live.

Metal up your ass!!! Yep, there were all the old balls'n'chunk songs, "One" and so on. My personal highlights were Master Of Puppets, The Four Horsemen (AARRGGHHH!!!!) and For Whom The Bell Tolls. It really was a great show.
