That's the right word - TASTEFUL!
And his shredidng techniques is very raw, free. It's not Yngwie type of
shred, which is in a way cliche shred, shred achieved by hours
practicing with the shreding lessons video! ( :), but a shred coming out
of the guts, out of the heart, raw shred that makes you wanna screaaam!

It's much more tasty than DT, IMHO! :) I mean really, MELODY, I just
can't get enough of the melodies these guys came up with! Shredders, but
controlled one and only when necesarry. Not showing off, except live! :)
But arrangements and the music are best, maybe best band in that aspect

Occasionally I just can't grasp the rhythms, I can't count them.
And also recently I saw a gig from the bassist of Leb i Sol, his solo
carrier, ... man I thought I knew most of the Macedonian ethno rhythms
but this guy pulled out some crazy stuff!!! It surely was the most
complex structure/rhythms I ever heard!

Anyway, the Balkan is one hell of a mess, mixture of cultures and
influences ... but n omatter the similarities, there are some individual
characteristics in them.

Heck man, now that's irony: Macedonian musician being more popular in
the other ex-YU republics!
I bet that if Leb i Sol suddenly decide doing last tour in their life
(me banging the floor with my head from unfounded excitement), I bet the
halls in Serbia or Croatia, Slovenia will be totally PACKED!

What do ya say about the bassist eh? :) He is a monster man, only he
can't get enough chance besides Vlatko! Maybe live he stretch a bit more
and shows what he can do! This dude played bass for some cafe-bars jazz
rock band in Skopje (capitol of Macedonia) and they kicked ass. Surfin'
all over Billy Cobham, Jeff Beck, Simon Philips ... And the drummer
Vlatko has in the trio is said to be the best young drummer here. BUT
the little kid of Garo is said that he'll blow eveybody away! :) This
kid is still very young.

Greetings from Atlanta. An incident of enormous embarassment has forced me to emerge from lurking on this list to do a bit of damage control. My friend, Jim Raggi, publishes a Metal Fanzine called Lamentations of the Flame Princess, and I proofread each issue before it goes to print. In each issue, like any other fanzine, he interviews (seemingly) a million bands and reviews pretty much anything sent to him. Issue 3, which just returned from the printer, contains interviews with Cathedral, Gamma Ray, Stuck Mojo, Witchery, etc etc etc. Anyway, one of the bands interviewed is Dali's Dilemma. When listening to the tape to transcribe the interview, he couldn't quite make out one of the names of the people mentioned, some guy they were honored to be on the same label with, and the best he could make out was John Bertucci. In retrospect, and to our great embarassment, obviously they meant John Petrucci. Now, LotFP is a pretty damned good zine, Jim's brutally honest in his reviews, and his ints do more than just hit the highlights and go away. He's done HUGE ints with Dan Swano, Opeth, Nevermore, Sculptured, and a ton more in the past. He's good. We just royally screwed that name up : )
Keep in mind, however, as you're laughing at our amateurism, that he'd heard one or two DT songs before that, and I had Never even heard of them until he brings in ACOS. I usually hate the stuff he listens to; death, doom, black, white, goth, it's pretty much all crap to my ears, although some of the the more straight forward "Sure we're cheesy, so f'n what?" Heavy Metal bands are pretty good (Gamma Ray, Rhapsody, Hammerfall). Anyway, so I listen to ACOS because I wanna see what some metal band has done to Funeral for a Friend. I liked it. Hell, it's just a copy, they don't change ANYTHING. So I listened to their 23 minute ACOS, expecting to turn it off after about a minute. Hmmm, that's pretty good stuff, gets shorter everytime I listen to it. So I go get Images and Words. BAM! That thing held me by the nose while kicking me in the ass, to paraphrase Patton. So anyway, I'm a convert to being a ProgMetal fan now, completely addicted to DT and LTE, and that mistake really seems bad now. Oh well, I'm a student, if not a fan, of Clintonian spin control, so I'm getting the word out before people see the zine. We screwed up. Sorry : )

Heyho everybody!
I've been lurking around the 'Jam for quite some time and finally found some stuff to contribute :P
I saw Neal Morse and Nick D'Virgilio from Spock's Beard live on saturday. They played an incredible semi-acoustic gig in an Irish Pub here in Nuernberg, Germany. Too bad they didn't play any DT stuff among the ton of covers ;) Anyway, I got to talk to Neal after the show and inquired about his project with Mike. He said it would be released in February (as you may already know). I was wondering whether he'd do all the vocals on the album but he told me that Roine Stolt would sing some stuff as well and even Pete and Mike would get to do some vocals. He said the whole thing came out "amazing" (of course, hehe :).
Being the DT fanatic that I am, I couldn't resist to ask him about the new DT album :P Just as I expected, Neal DID get to hear some rough mixes of the new material during the recording sessions for the "project". Needless to say, Neal is an incredibly nice guy to talk to :)
Anyway, sounds pretty cool to me and I can't wait to hear DT'99 myself. Same goes for seeing the entire 'Beard in September :)

I've got the religious facts all set. I used the Old Testament as the new one is simply a ripoff. The old one was done in less than a week in the studio. And it charted pretty well at the initial release.
Current roadblock: I'm having trouble with the HTML. System keeps saying something like "Are you SURE you want to send HTML to a mailing list?" and I just don't know what to answer there, so I'm stuck in a loop, dismissing dialogs, picking menus.... Broke mouse button 1 yesterday :)
So, I've revised my prediction for the new DT album. It shall arrive to our ears concurrent with the arrivel of Digest 5150. The disc will contain a 77 minute extended jam of Van Halen's title track off the disc of the same name.
Oddly enough, I think if DT were to do another show backing up a big name, that playing something like 5150 would get them some serious head turning in the audience. You know the intro to that song and you can see JP all over the shred factor on it! Yeah ok, so to appease us prob-snobs, he and Mike would have to tie one hand behind their backs, right? :) Ummm, anyways, since they enjoys covers, why not. You don't hear 5150 on the radio much (if ever), so it qualifies a little better, right? :)

Thank you. Just because a musician doesn't, doesn't mean they can't. Jordan has a lot of respect for the art form. He'll be ripping some hearts out and suckling on them soon enough, be patient :)

i was just going through my old tapes (actually my sister`s tapes) and dug out something that some of you might find very interesting... any of you ever heard of a group named "Rondo Veneziano"? How come i have this strange feeling that everyone will answer "noooo"? :-))). Here`s the deal... i noticed that some of you prefer classical elements in prog music more than jazz. And... we all know that even though some of you actually like listening to classic, most of you (even though slightly moved by nice Malmsteen shredding) wouldn`t even consider putting a cd with some Bach`s work in your cd-eater. So how about listening to something i`d call acid-classic (note: term borrowed from acid-jazz which is far more listenable than prog jazz :-))... listening to music which has violins, cellos, flutes, oboes and... drums and bass! I mean REAL drums and REAL bass! And hearing these bunch of geinus loonies playing some of the nicest music on a trace of classical music... just not so complicated and dull, some of you might say. So... i`m offering you something called "Rondo Veneziano"! Ta-Da! :-))). I only have one album but have heard a rather nice number of their tracks... this is fucking beautiful! And to prove you all, i`m gonna make you an mp3 of the first piece off of "Arabesque" called Misteriosa Venezia. If this doesn`t move you (okay, at least to hear someone like it :-) then... whatever :-). These guys and girls are really big... they sold over 25 millions of records... but are rather unknown worldwide. Hell, i don`t even know how did my sis came up with this tape. My mp3 is on the way... the tape is rather old, but pretty audioable...
