Yeah, Nothing would make me happier seeing DT do some stuff with the Dirty Dozen Brass Band(One of the few brass bands that play well in tune and together) Yes, I am very much into Earth Wind & Fire, hell, alot of the old 70's soul, funk music had heavy doses of horns. It was unfortunate how they got so much muscled out by keyboards over the 80's...Right now though you're not going to find much of horn sections in music, unless you look at the swing craze, or one or two songs on an album from Phish or Aerosmith....I think horns add a great deal with music, and having it well balanced with the guitars and keys would really make for a great band, that's what I'd like to do one day...but it'll probably never happen...:)

BTW, while we're talking about horns, I understand that DT's new album would be recorded at Jay Beckenstein's studio like I&W....does this mean that he may do a couple songs with them??? He sounded good on Another Day, and he added SOOO much to Take Away My Pain on OiaLT...He fits really well with the slower ballad tunes, and hell, if he could take out a tenor or Baritone, he could add a punch on some heavier tunes...:)

As for the talk about Korn, I have to admit I kind of like them, especially when there are no vocals, the whole rapcore thing does nothiing for me...One rougher band that I like more is Tool(I dont know why, I kind of group them in the same category, excuse my ignorance if that's not right...hehe) Great drums and Bass work with them, the Vocals don't get in your way, yet they have a good rough sound...

Well, today I finally bought Spock's Beard Day for Night and Shadow Gallery Carved in Stone, was going to Buy LTE2 and Platypus but they didn't have either one...:( Couple those with a couple jazz albums I got, Herbie Mann's Push Push(Great Funky 70's flute groove music..hehe) and a Dave Brubeck, and I was able to get over the depression of having to buy that damn Backstreet Boys album for my girlfriend...haha...can't wait to hear Spock's Beard, heard so many damn good things about them on the list...:)

    Hey folks...

Just got a cable modem and want to test out an ftp daemon so I've put up a full Queensryche show in mp3 to see how it works. Please be aware this is just a test, so it may go down at anytime. If it's successful I plan on putting up a new show frequently for download and will eventually have web access to download all this stuff. I've got two new DT shows ready to put up, so hopefully this goes well. Let me stress that I'm not trying to compete with Bogie's site. It's an excellently done site but I'd just like to get more of these shows out to the public. Takes much less work for me to just toss something up on FTP. :) If anyone has any problems, please email me and I'll see if I can fix it. Here's the show and site info:

    anonymous FTP to 24.5.106.175

Artist: Queensryche Date: 4/29/95 Loc: Milwaukee, WI Quality: A/A-

Notes: This show is similar to the more widely available 5/24/95 (San Jose) show. The Ryche won't change a setlist during a tour unless some major act of God occurs, so it's got the exact same setlist as the 5/24 show. The big difference is that Geoff isn't sick on this recording and sounds pretty good.

I tried to clean up what was a very bass heavy source with some annoying artifacts. Comments would be much appreciated.

    Setlist:

Disc 1 ~~~~~~ 9:28am, I Am I, Damaged, Bridge, Screaming in Digital, NM156, My Global Mind, Neue Regel, I Remember Now, Anarchy-X, Revolution Calling, Operation: Mindcrime, Spreading the Disease, The Mission, I Don't Believe in Love, Waiting for 22, My Empty Room, Real World, Eyes of a Stranger

Disc 2 ~~~~~~ Empire, Jet City Woman, Promised Land, Disconnected, Lady Jane, Out of Mind, One More Time, Silent Lucidity, Take Hold of the Flame, Someone Else?

    Take care all...

    Adam

Well only recently with the release of there latest album MTV jumped all over them, Also because of the strong "underground" following they had created. There musical style has stayed consistent through there 3 albums. Ya maybe a few changes here and there but the over all style has remained the same. Now every other band is trying to copy the same image and sound that they create.

MP talked about DT using this studio on their next album a bit at the clinic in NH last month, but unfortunately he mentioned NOTHING about having him play on the album. DT is being real hush-hush about the musical content of the album, so we'll probably just have to wait and see... it would be nice to have him play on it, tho... Heh heh, funny you should mention this, Kevin.... there ARE!! There's gonna be a double live available in stores, and a triple live available directly from the record label!!! Sometime later this summer, I think.

Check out the websites for further info: www.icedearth.com www.centurymedia.com

I'm so pissed that they haven't come closer than NYC on this tour.... I'm DYING to see them. I live upstate (near Albany), and there's something about driving down into the city that frightens me. :-) Now, the Chance in Poughkeepsie, that's a different story... I've seen many a wondrous DT gig there.... <grin>

    Hope this helps!!

Somebody wrote: <<FII could have sounded even better if they wouldn't have cranked the gain button so much.>>

I'm inclined to think there is some truth to this...I have a decent stereo in my Explorer, it's not a real fancy rig, but decent, and I have noticed that out of all my DT CD's, FII is the only one that makes the speakers kinda "fart out" when I have it cranked at the same volume as I&W or Awake. Granted, if I had a $2,000 system I probably wouldn't notice, but my system is probably around $700, which should be decent for a car stereo.

Anyone else have some input on this issue?
