I still have 2 Adrian Belew tickets I need to sell, and since it's getting
down to the wire here, I've decided to "discount" them fairly drastically.
The concert is on Friday, June 11th at the New Market Cabaret in
Philadelphia, PA. It's general admission and strictly 21+ (the reason I
need to sell my tix). If you are at all interested in seeing what promises
to be a fantastic and intimate show with one of the best
guitarist/singer/songwriters out there (IMO), or know somebody that might
be, please write me back ASAP at hender@wam.umd.edu. The discounted price
is $40 for the pair ($20 individually), cheaper than they'll be available
at the door (that is, assuming it's not sold out)...

(Sorry about my repeated postings on the subject.)

    Thanks,
    Brian

Okay. Let me clarify something. Maybe I did overstate that Cynic wasn't as
intense as Human, but I do NOT jusge a drummer by his double bass work. I
used to when I was in high school. Not anymore. Thats why most death metal
bands do nothing for me nowadays. However what I thought was cool with
Reinert on Human is how he used cymbals OVER his double bass work. I also
don't think he is better than the later two drummers for Death. I like
Hoglan's patterns and his use of cannon shells. =) And I think Christy can
be messy sometimes, but can pull off more shit than anyone else when he IS
successful doing it. I saw him live with Death (unfortunately the ONLY Death
show I have seen) and he blew me away. He did drop sticks about 5 times in
the middle off some fills. But let me assure you, the man is INSANE. He did
a 7+ minute drum solo which unfortunately lacked in the structure dept, but
was PURE technique. Amazing to hear that shit. Again, nothing against
Reinert, I think he's an awesome drummer. I only heard two samples of
Gordian Knot on the net, so I cant judge, but I liked his work with Death
the best. Again, NOT to diss Cynic which is in its own category..... BTW
Does anyone know where to get Aghora???

Best Buy. It's been re-issued. I think the only one. I happen to have both
Darkness Descends and Time Does not Heal and don't understand how people
listen to any Dark Angel other than Time Does Not Heal. Earlier stuff is
    like a typical Slayer rip-off. =)

<< Well only recently with the release of there latest album MTV jumped all
    over
them, Also because of the strong "underground" following they had created.
There musical style has stayed consistent through there 3 albums. Ya maybe
    a
few changes here and there but the over all style has remained the same.
    Now
every other band is trying to copy the same image and sound that they create.
    >>

I'm not sure if your a big fan of Korn or not, like I was until this release,
but if you are, then you should realize that this album was totaly comercial
and such a far cry from anything they had ever done. The style was thrown
out, hence the entrance of rap music and cheasy tunes like "Freak on a Leash"
and "All in the Family". No one ever listened to this band because thwey
were "fun" it was because of their agressive style and angry tone, it was a
great group for outlet(and still is if you pop in "Korn" or a few songs off
of "Life is Peachy"). They have the same style as every other band now . . .
a pop sound that will sell. Next album they are supposed to feature MORE
Rap, whoopy . . . what a bunch of pussy sellouts

Well I went to the Iced Earth show at Jaxx on Thursday night. It was a night
of pure power metal. 5 bands were slated to play.

The opener was some band with Tower in their name. They might have sounded
good if the sound engineer had a clue.

    I skipped the second band.

The third band was Division who had a great set. People were pretty into
them and the sound engineer had improved somewhat. I guess there were some
drum problems. They did perform a relatively new and great sounding cover of
    Savatage's Power of the night.

4th was Destiny's End which consists of Hellstar's singer. He looked a
little old and was impressed by the crowd size. DE sounded decent and may be
    worth further investigation.

and finally Iced Earth came out LOUD and full POWER. The sound was great and
the songs sounded just like the studio releases. Apparently a new disc will
be out in the next year as a conceptual album based on the wicked trilogy.

    oh yeah, Fuck posers.

    np: nothing.

I was pretty psyched up to hear Howard during my lunch break (since I

Internet public listen to Howard because the subjext material is too
controvertial (did I spell that right?). What a load of shit! I am
sure some of the gansta rap that some of those stations play is worse
than Howard. If anyone finds a station that broadcasts on the net and
really lets people listen to Howard please let me know. Thanks.

Actually, I just did some research on this, because I was psyched to hear this him this morning, too. Apparently, shows like Rush Limbaugh and Imus don't get paid for their syndication (ie, they swap advertising time with the local stations to take care of it). Howard, on the other hand, gets paid by each station that syndicates him.

    Therefore, he doesn't allow webcasts.

Why? Because webcasts are free, and if people could access him on the web, he wouldn't be getting paid.

When I found this out, it broke my heart. But if you can't get Howard on a local radio station, unfortunately, you're out of luck.

You might wanna check Ghostland's Gentle Giant site for all the new info (as I'm not really into them). The URL is http://www.ghostland.com

I guess it's common knowledge that this has to do with how the CD is mastered. Even with a higher gain setting, you should still be able to hear it at the same volume (at a lower volume SETTING - turn down your volume knob) as long as your preamp isn't distorting (mine sure doesn't distort, my system cost about $700 also - and I'll be the first to tell you it's a piece of shit). I think FII has the best sound and production of any DT CD yet (donning asbestos suit)...

"Alive in Athens" 3 CD set will be available on the online shop at Century Media website<http://www.centurymedia.com/>. As far as I heard, Iced Earth guys recommended fans to get 3 CD set.

They overdubbed a bit in the studio, when they mixed this live album, but I don't mind, anyway. Their Greek shows were so amazing. So I'm looking forward to listening to this album:).

And, my best Iced Earth fan mate has made the tribute website of Iced Earth called "Iced World". I'm gonna work for this Japanese mirror site in the near future. You can check rare information about the band at:

According to Nevermore mail news(which was sent from the Official Nevermore web site.), the following Nevermore headlining shows were almost confirmed.:

    "HEADLINE 7/22 EL MACOMBO-TORONTO, ONT 7/23 FOUFOUNES-MONTREAL, QUE 7/24 MERLIN-RIMOUSKI, QUE 7/25 THE BANK-NEW YORK, NY MORE TBA..."

Anyway, they suffered from the problem that they couldn't book their US tour enough till last year, so I'm really glad that Nevermore can do the long US tour this year, finally!!
