Rose is her last name. I believe her first name is Winter :)

FWIW to those asking about music schools, there's another pretty damn
good music school here in Boston called The New England Conservatory of
Music. They have some lame ass drum instructor, one Vic Firth. Think he
whittles cheap wood into sticks or something :)

Interesting the number of references to musicians not finishing school.
My bro went the the Conservatory in the mid 70's. Trivia Time: Freshman
year I met his his roomate was Anton Fig, drummer for the Letterman band
for quite some time now. He really did allright for himself. Great
talent, as it's not easy playing shit completely off-the-cuff and make
it appropriate like they have to when Dave cracks a joke or something.

Anyways, my bro was gigging so much around town and up and down the
coast by his senior year. He only needed a couple of humanities courses,
that he never finished his degree. Not that I'm advocating it or
anything, but it does seem that it's not quite that critical after a
certain point to have the paper. At least in that major. He had gotten
enough theory and performance experience at that point, and was already
on his way. I imagine the same was probably true with Mike and the gang
    to some extent?

    Regards,
    Jon

dave done said, in reference to the alan parsons project: "Though I have heard the name, I haven't heard their music... :)"

you ever watch any basketball in the 1990's? specifically Chicago Bulls games? You know that music that starts playing when they turn out the lights to introduce the Bulls? That music is by Alan Parsons Project, called either "I, Sirius" or just plain, "Sirius", i forget which precisely.....

APP is named as such because Parsons (well-known engineer/producer) is basically the only guy who appears on all their albums (i haven't listened to any of mmy APP cassettes in a while, although i remember that I like Stereotomy and Ammonia Avenue the best). He's joined by a different cast of characters for each "project", and to tell the truth, almost every song has a different line-up.....

to call them "progressive" would really only be correct if you added the word "pop" afterwards....there is, however, some decent stuff contained on records released under the APP banner, so you wouldn't be going too far wrong if you were to check out any such product.....

my theory is that someone spilled something in there and the bee went to investigate and got closed in.... and thisly thusly kicked the bucket.

All this goes to show just how much I have to learn about drum sets... I was trained for 7 years as a percussionist in Band, and I only started playing set in the last couple of years, and only double bass in the last year. Thanks to the Jam I now know how to solve that pesky open-hi-hat-double-bass problem... heh. Now if I only had the money ;)

    >dave done said, in reference to the alan parsons project: >"Though I have heard the name, I haven't heard their music... :)"

Actually, APP had a fairly decent hit song back in the early 80's called "Eye in the Sky." It's fairly likely that you'd know it if you heard it. "I am the eye in the sky, looking at you, ooh, ooh, I can feel your mind..." It's a really spacy song, kind of like a pop Pink Floyd. Except that's the only song I've heard of theirs so I can't weigh it against their other stuff. :) Bad memories that song brings. I went on a nasty bad Nitrous Oxide trip at the dentist's office while that song kept playing over and over again. I was only like 8 at the time, too. It might explain why I started listening to Twisted Sister at such a young age...

    >lol. But seriously, I think her name is Rosemary somethin or other...

Aye. You can also try picking up any old Testament CD from 1994 and back, but some of those old photos are rather goofy. :) Back when the whole band had pre-Promised Land Eddie Jackson hairdo's. :) Long and puffy. hehehe. Eddie roolz. -- KorgX3 NP: Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime

yeah. I guess the newbies, outlander and all will realise by themselves just by reading the jam! The 4-th time outlander starts receiving his jams full of top XX lists he'll scream out of agony too! :)

Oh make no mistake, I fully understand what a horrible, despicable thing i have done (sarcasm:on w/ blowers)thanx to mass amounts of email pointng that out!

However, I will re-post what i said to another person about this

Ive been into this band since WDADU and I listened to it on my own without the support of friends...(because they liked the heavy stuff)

So for years they were like MY band

Now, years later I see these people who have some type of elitist attitude, about how they cannot stoop so fucking low as to tell someone new who asks "Whats the big "M" for?" the answer without telling them that they need to read the FAQ

Some people, believe it or not, dont even know what the fuck a FAQ is or where you can find it!!

Would it kill any of these "long-time fans" to answer someone new without treating the person like they dont have enough sense to read some document that they dont know how to find???

Or for that matter (in my case) email me the lists and those that dont want to.....dont reply...its not necessary to make someone feel like they did something that fucked up your jam!

If I didn't already know about Dream Theater and i came to read this digest I would think that its some technical type band who uses 15/16 sigs and has fans who think they are some kind of secret society who WILL NOT condescend to answer some questions that have previously been answered 1800 jams ago

Not only that...but hasnt anyone noticed how many people on here do not post? Outside of ones who dont read it, I think some just dont want to have to deal with smart-ass flames and complaints about their questions.

And if youre saying everyone else reads the FAQ....I say this How the hell do you know if they do or not?

All im saying is stop thinking you're the only ones who "really" have the inside track on the band Because given most of the the 1st experience stories ive read no one else on here has listened to them as long as i have. And if someone asks me "Whats the Big M for?"

I am more than happy to tell them. The fact that i've explained this probably 60 times has nothing to do with it. I can do it again and to suggest that its wrong to do so is really lame
