Hi Amanda,
I'll be the first to admit I'm no Pavarotti, but please realize that the live
rendition of "Chris & Kevin" was not to be taken seriously!!!!! : )
I was merely hamming it up and mocking myself!

PS - to the jammers on this "name change after Kevin" thread...
I must point out that we exsisted for almost a year before Kevin joined us....
The 2 Johns and myself are the band's founding members.....

I think there is a lot going on like this using MIDIs and MODs, although
I don't know about live playing.
Also David Bowie was doing something like this where he got people to
contribute material over the Internet. I think it was more like a competition
though.

Heh heh heh... Actually I wasn't *seriously* suggesting that they should have changed their name, I was just exaggerating to illustrate how much of a role Kevin played in my falling-in-love with Dream Theater.

Everyone who continues to bitch and whine about Kevin leaving the band should just get over it. He's gone. Just face it and get on with your life. Nothing you can do or say will bring him back. Go and do something more productive like beat on a dead horse.

I don't recall anyone "bitching" about Kevin leaving the band... I merely support the position that there's nothing wrong with missing Kevin. That's all this is about. Period.
It's ludicrous to suggest that we're not "getting on with our lives". Rather than continuing to bitch about our nostalgia, maybe YOU should find something better to do.

Just thought I would let you people who haven't scene the new hilarious Austin Powers movie know that there is a brief scene that mentions a progressive rock band from '82. I just thought it was pretty cool having prog said to the world again. Maybe this can give it more attention?

A-ha! Who said I was making a fool of myself? I knew it was some type of cymbal.
Now I know what remote hats are, but where are the pedals located within the set?

>Now I know what remote hats are, but where are the pedals located within >the set?
I thought it was just two pedals for the same hi-hat (like a double bass pedal for one bass drum). Only there's a pedal under the high hat on his left and a pedal (remote) on the right. That way he can play the high hat while fiddling with his octobans without having to reach clear around behind himself. Or something. :D Considering I'm not a drummer, I'm just trying to use logic. Hell, AFAIK, Mike does have two hi-hats, but they are different sizes, what? Wouldn't be prudent to play double high-hats with different sized cymbals I would think... But then, I'm not Mike or Terry Bozzio, (or Dave Grohl, even) but I have a HUGE number of midichlorians in my bloodsteam, so there!
So, in conclusion, what the fuck do I know about drums? -- KorgX3 would like to think he knows alot, therefore he thinks he does. NP: Eric Johnson - Venus Isle

I totally agree with you, Amanda. If DT didn't change their sound at all, everyone would get pretty bored, including the artists. There's always a limit to the number of songs you can do of the same type/style. And just while I'm here, and roughly on the topic, I'll say my small piece about FII vs Awake and the rest... I do notice the not quite small shift in style on FII, and there are a couple of songs on the albulm that I'm not the biggest fan of. However, there are also some songs on there that I think are really really good, mostly because of their difference. New Millenium, Hell's Kitchen (which took a little bit of flack on the jam a month or two ago), LITS, and ToT come to mind. I just love the quiter, funkier parts of these songs, and IMHO, it's a sound that hasn't been present in the same quality in any other song they've done on any other albulm...
Everyone complaining about the style change from Awake to FII is starting to make the jam sound like a conference of brain dead, die hard Metallica fans complaining about Load and Reload.
I'm sure there are plenty of jammers out there who disagree, but it's my two Australian cents anyway, for what they're worth (not much at the moment :) )
Keep on jamming, Niall

Scott, look for that time sig in the verse part of Megadeth's "Lucretia", from the record Rust In Peace. There's one bar that is in 15/16...

Hey everyone... Does anybody know where MP went to school? I know he went to Berkley, but it doesn't say anywhere else if that is all. Did he go anywhere before Berkley? I'm looking for a good place to go. Is Berkley as great as it sounds?
I also heard from somebody that all of DT has doctorates. Is this true as well?
[please excuse my spelling of 'berkley'. I don't know how it's spelled.]
