Sure it is. But is it productive? What's the point of dwelling? It's
not going to bring him back, right? Instead of brooding about what could
have been, why not put your energy into finding something good about what
    is?

    Hey everyone!
Its been a long time since Ive posted...
I saw some stuff about the new Queensryche album, and I went to their site
and downloaded some Mp3's. From what ive heard, it sounds like its going to
be pretty good. Theyre going to have to release something incredible to mend
the wound that Hear In the Now Frontier opened up in my soul, though:) That
album SUCKED. It was modern alterna-rock done poorly, to say the least.
I Like Awake much better than FII, sound wise and music wise. I think
Kevin added a much more powerful sound to DT, and that Derek's style and mood
just clashed with everything. (Even though I like him as a musician) I hope
Jordan brings out a new era of really intense, awesome prog metal from DT.
And, finally, are there any jammers on the Central New York (Utica) area
that play? Im trying to get something going here....seems like every musician
around me is a "less is more DT is too technical" type person.

When I preordered Once in a Livetime from CDNow, it arrived Fed-Ex (no extra
charge), at my home on the day it was released. That is I received it on
the very first day that people were able to buy it in stores. I've been a
big fan of theirs ever since.

The fact that you brought up a percentage proves that you entirely missed
what I was trying to say. That's okay, I didn't expect everyone (or anyone)
    to understand.

I was just empathizing with Joshua's position... we can miss Kevin if we

BTW I'm sorry that I haven't been able to do any 3D-stuff lately...I've got a few finals to...well...finalize first. OK, just gave it try now: I don't think it's a shaker. It's Mike on the snare. The thing he's doing on the snare, and which you said it's shaker is exactly the same Roger Taylor's rhythm on "Stone Cold Crazy", and in that song it does sound a little odd too! :) And since snare can anyway be tricky cause of its way if use, it can cause a little "wrong rhythm" impression!

Two points from this little snippet here...

1.) I kinda like MP's backing vocals on the acoustic stuff. I think he's much better in a calmer setting with the backing vocals, with the more mellow songs.

2.) I too miss KevMo, but hell...Jordan should kick some serious arse.

    COUNT ME IN PAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

I was at the last year's gig in Budapest and it was awesome. And yep, KJLB himself said that they, while coming 1-st time there, didn't expected that big response to the concert. And it was really huge, audience screaming the lyrics all the way thru the gig (consider it's a foreign country plus :) Which would mean - COMING AGAIN! So like, if the album comes in autumn, world tour - winter, spring???

Folks, does anyone know if Mr. Vai 'till now included Europe in his tours, ... more specifically Eastern Europe, or Budapest, Sofia, Romania, Greece ....???? And is it confirmed that the guy has a regular solo album coming out this summer? I mean, for such a big news I find it odd to see only one lousy line about it, out of context, in the TOUR DATES page on www.vai.com! :(

P.S. I was just let known that in one our shop 80 MINUTES blank CD-ROMs arrived! Since in this country every techology news comes later, I just wanted to ask what's the deal with this? It's first time I heard of 80 minutes CDs. Is it true, or it's some trick making a regular CD be 80 mins (free to flame me if this sounded STUPID :). Is it all OK with them, checked stuff and doesn't cause problems?

Someone bitched about the inappropriate nature of the "star wars" script that was posted the other day. Someone bitched quite vehemently, in fact. Ordinarily I would agree with said someone, but, I feel this is an example of the Life Ain't Fair concept. If the script had been stupid and unfunny, I would join Mr. Someone and his agreeing toady in their condemnation. However, since the script was actually funny, I say it has a place being posted on this list in the interest of providing entertainment of a quality nature. If one is NOT funny, such postings will be universally condemned, but, since life is indeed not fair, fringe postings with humorous value should be submitted, even if they be off-topic as the proverbial person who is fucking his mother.

I always liked the backing vocals on New Millenium. Just now I was listening it. Can anyone distinguish who's singing the high vocals at 8:02-8:03 that goes "turning 'round babeeee!"? :) Doesn't sound like James, and it's pretty high and I don't think it's falsetto. Maybe it's Mike singing it? If yes I have one WOOW! :)

    Hi all!

In the last few weeks I've been on a CD buying spree (I intended to buy 12 items, I ended up buying 20!), and I got hold of some discount coupons at CD Now, all of them in the same mailing lists I'm posting this now. I publicly asked for them, and I think it's fair that I share the URLs now, so here I go:

    1) $5 off - expires june/30 - minimum purchase: $9.95 http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/redirect/leaf=from=meb:y:cym:sgpg:a0004/leaf=from=sr-726841

    2) $10 off - expires june/23 - minimum purchase: $14.99 http://www.cdnow.com/cgi-bin/mserver/redirect/leaf=from=red:x:cdn:me/leaf=from=sr-330539

    3) $10 off - expires june/23 - minimum purchase: $14.99 http://cdnow.com/from=red:x:cdn:mm

If you want to save money with your next CD purchases, do so!

(BTW, if you care about this: I bought Dream Theater's _A Change of Seasons_, King Crimson's _Cirkus_ and Anthony Phillips' _The Geese and the Ghost_ with each coupon)

Ditto for me. DT seemed more like *band* when Kevin was in the band. FII doesn't feel like that to me. OIAL is good tho, very good. Awake is my fave DT album, I play it all the time and I have to say that Kevin's contributions to the disc are some of my favorite aspects of it. I didn't get into FII as much. Good, but not up to the Awake's level. But then, I'd sooner listen to FII than most of I&W, so there ya go. :o) === *Trent
