As for the vocalist himself, he really reminds of the

    Hail.....

This is an URGENT call to anyone who wants to see some real music back
on MTV for once (even though they will probably play it once and forget
about it). They just ran a 2-hour long special in the states featuring
independent labels, artists, and 20 different videos, etc.

Well.....as I had it on in the background I nearly had a heart attack
when I heard Matt Pinfield mention AMORPHIS!!!!!! and they played the
video for "Divinity" from their latest album "Tuonela" (hail!)

I thought that it was the coolest thing that millions of people across
this vast musical wasteland known as the states was watching AMORPHIS!
Although metal is slowly on the rise here....did anyone see the
Billboard magazine from the first week of June....a 50-page METAL
spread!!!!!! Holy shit they covered everything from ICED EARTH to DIMMU
BORGIR to BLIND GUARDIAN to ANGRA to DREAM THEATER to TNT!...and tons
    more.......

anyway....MTV is running an internet contest (that expires on Tuesday
morning 06/29!!!) in which the most requested video from the
"Independent" TV special gets regular rotation....and AMORPHIS
"Divinity" is one of them! Everyone PLEASE go to the link below, click
"Vote Now", scroll down and vote for AMORPHIS "Divinity" (you can even
    see it via streaming RealVideo)

    http://mtv.com/sendme.tin?page=/mtv/music/flying_indie/

I really don't care that MTV plays it for a long time or not...I really
want to make the big promoters and record execs take notice that metal
is ALIVE!! (so they can choke on their alterna-hard-core crap)

"Forgive me if I'm out of order -
this new 'music' has no soul.
It may be good for making money,
sadly that is not my goal." <---SKYCLAD "Penny Dreadful" (talk
    about lyrics and passion...)

NOW GO AND VOTE!! (over and over and over and over....'till your mouse
    explodes!!!)

    cheers,
       Carlo (Fates)

PS: Please send this to as many friends / metal mailing lists / web
    forums as you can!!!

Heh, I was just listening to Megadeath "Tornado of Souls" and "Symphony of
    Destruction"
and thinking to myself how they get away with such cool names.

Someone said newbies to Pink Floyd should get Pulse, but I think basically anyone
    who
doesn't have Dark Side of the moon should get it. I mean that is like THE album. No
    other
album has as much integrity as DSOM. I mean, everyone likes it from my Mum, to
    teenie
boppers to those of cultivated taste like you and me :) Then again, you do miss
    out on
some other good songs, especially Wish You Were Here and some off the Wall,
but you can get them later.

I was wondering why people don't often mention Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield. I
    was
listening to this the other day and its a great CD. I can see it having a big
    influence on
    Fate's Warning's A Pleasant Shade of Gray.

Finally, out of the two or three sites with Planet X mp3s I havent got any of them
    to
work. Could someone fill me in. I do think its funny though the extremes to which
some people will take their hatred of others. I mean who ever this Kevin
    Moore@dereksux
or whatever is, he must have a lot of spare time and anger building up inside.

    Please, I need help...

I have a Boss ME-30 multi effect. Now, I just can't get any good sounds
out of it. Well, actually, they sound good, but I don't believe that
it's all that this machine can offer me.

So, if there's anyone out there that have some good patches for this
little thingy, please mail 'em to me! It would really save my day!

I'm specially looking for some good solo and rythm distortions. And
    everything else of course.

I've found a site on the Internet, but it just didn't help. It still
sounds too plastic! I want that "feeling" in the sounds!!!

    Thanks!

As with any good prog album, Dali's Dilemma does take a few listens before you "get the point". I love the CD now. I got that Magna Carta sampler quite a while back to check out the Dali's tune and the Ice Age demo track. Both "Ashen Days" and "Join" took a while but once I "got it"...WOW! And now I'm wading thru the Ice Age CD the same way. It takes a while but once your mind "gets it"...

    New Tiles CD on Tuesday!

I think that this disc may be a creeper. It really didn't "catch me" on the first couple of listens, then "Living in Fear" stuck in my head. Seems to be getting better with more listens.

The one thing that may be holding it back is a lack of "catchy" vocals. Not that we want Micheal Jackson here, but the vocals (and vocal melodies) don't seem to stick well. They're not cheesy though, IMHO.

No, it's not quite a masterpiece, but it is a solid first effort - much better than most out there.

HUGE vocal hooks in the choruses. In this regard, I think they are VERY similar to Altura (speaking of which, it's a crime they only made one album).

Oh, question: It's no big secret that 'Manifesto' was finished WAAAAAAY before it was released. What is the story with a follow-up? It sounds greedy, I know, but they've had a while to think about it already. Any news?

They are still currently working on new material for their next CD. (I know that's an obvious thing.) Its more aggressive and i'm sure everyone will be blown away. Check out the japanese mag 'Burnnn.' There are some articles on the band. Off course, you have to read Japanese though. :) They are selling well over there.

Please, add one more to the group. :-)

I definitely agree with that assertion and it was probably one of the reasons why it took me so long for Awake to "sink in". Only after, say, one year after listening to it I actually "got it", I think, after listening to it with some relative frequency (self-brainwashing, perhaps?)

But the fact is that I tend to prefer the "ensemble" impression that I get from the I&W era.
