Well this certainly caught my attention! I found the cd at the sites
others listed, however my questions are has anyone heard this cd and what
do they think of it? Does it compare to his work with Royal Hunt? Also,
this soundfile of one track, where is it? I did a search and couldn't find
it. The cd costs $30, it would be cool to hear something from it first.

Yo!
Interesting tip here, feel free to try it. On that one song on Sex &
Religion, I can't remember the song title & I'm too lazy to grab the cd (from
WAY over in that other room)- but those of you who own the cd will know which
song I'm talking about. That one song which Devin screams his ass off before
the band even kicks in is the one I'm talking about. Well, one night my
roommate and his girlfriend came home late one night and quickly went into his
bedroom. Obviously they were anxious to get to "doing the deed". They were a
little noisy as they did what they had to do, and kept me up as I'm trying to
sleep in the room next to them. Well I woke up the next morning about 8a.m.
and decided to get even (or something). So I reached over on my nightstand and
grabbed my stereo remote, and skipped forward to this particular song. Before
hitting "play", I CRANKED up the volume, then hit play, and let Devin's scream
do it's work. Let me tell you, they shit themselves and thought somebody was
getting murdered in the apartment! I wish I would have had a camera in their
room to see them jump and hit the ceiling!! They were a little pissed, but I
told them they had their fun last night, so I figured I'd have my fun this
morning. It's a nice little prank to play. OK, so I don't have a life, but you
gotta get your laughs somehow, right?

I just wanted to share this with ya'll!! I just recently got a five CD
changer, and the other night I decided, just for shits and giggles, that I
would listen to WDADU, I&W, Awake, ACoS, and FII all in order of release.
I'm sure some of you have probably done this, but what an experience. You
never realize how much a band grows and develops over the years until you
do this. I mean, most of the time it's evident, but by me doing this, it
was all so clear. What was so cool was that you WDADU and you think, "mu
God, how can they top this?!" Then you go to the next CD, then the next,
and so on, and you hear them get better and better. It also seemed the
CD's had some kind of connection going! I still haven't pin-pointed it yet,
but they flowed real well together! I highly suggest if you haven't done
this before, and think you can handle it, do it!! I gained a new respect
for them. What an awesome band!!

Stupid way iof doing it, but anyway: There is an album called "Velvet
Darkness" by the guitarist Allan Holdsworth. Some great jazz rock stuff,
with some weird free elements. I heard that this dude was one of the
first who started soloing without picking: hit one note and shred all
over the neck just with the left hand. Might be true!
I would also recomend Trilok Gurtu solo albums. Awesome jazz roc, with
great drums. This man is weird, he has some VERY cool technique, and his
drum sound is just amazing. Check it out!

How are things?
I recently got into Dixie Dregs after someone recommended that I pick up "What If" ... If anyone got a buzz out of the likes of LTE and similar instrumental albums then pick up What If. It took me a few listens to get into it (I honestly thought I had wasted my money after my first listen) but it WILL grow on you. Each member of the band is a master of his instrument but Andy West in one of the most incredible bassists I have ever heard (does he use a pick?). Rod Morgenstien and Steve Morse need no introduction at all.
Question: I have bought What If, Freefall and Full Circle and I appear to have run out of studio albums ... did the Dregs just put out 3 albums? Are their live albums worth picking up (ie: is there anything new on them?)
I have an MP3 of Dregs' Ice Cakes if anyone wants me to ICQ it to them. It's an ideal track to judge them by so if you like it - BUY THEIR ALBUMS.

Right now Music Boulevard http://www.musicblvd.com is having a storewise sale.
They carry both the Ocean Machine "Biomech" CD as well as Devin Townsend's "Infinity".
Both of these are of the Japanese "Plus 1" variety, so they're $25.00 and $27.00 apiece right now, respectively.
I'm not sure if either of these were released domestically to the US yet, so this is your best bet to get them cheap!
CDNow carries both as well, but usually they're a few dollars more there.
The service at CDNow and Music Boulevard is SOOOO exellent, I hesitate to buy it directly from the record company. Both places run a very good business and I will always look them first when I'm in the mood for some hard to find stuff.
Check out Biomech first - you can't go wrong with that one! We at the Jam really haven't described what Ocean Machine sounds like, all that much. I'd have to describe it as a slower album with heavy sequences of hypnotic and atmospheric layered guitar and synth. The riffs are catchy though and you'll find yourself wailing along to Devin's incredibly passion-filled vocals in just a few listens. In my opinion, Devin is the best male singer in metal today. TRULY a unique performer. Anybody who gets to see this dude live - I will keel you! I will keel all of you! ;)

There are more and more pirate CDs here, and interesting enough, Dream Theater albums are sold all the time! Seems like DT gets more and more fans here this period.
Yesterday I was going with a friend to see and choose speakers to buy for me, some strogner stuff, and I took my LTE CD (original :) with me. After hearing what the speakers had to "say" about them, I played LTE - Paradigm Shift, to hear how these babies handle this kind of music! I nearly fall dead on the floor! Jesus Christ, what a sound!!! After that I played "The Stretch" too, bla, bla ... We were checking the speakers with this dude from the shop. When we hit Paradigm for 2-nd time, the boy collegue of the dude with us speed-walked into the room saying "What stuff is this?" and he took the CD cover to see it! :) It was obvious he was amazed by the music. While me being thrilled to see it, I was also quite angry! It reminded me of all those threads we had about popular music, prog vs medias, MTV, "popularity = quality?" etc. ! :( I just can't and find difficutl to acept the fact that such a greta music as LTE remains unknown, while there ARE folks who will like it! This dude probably didn't hear of DT too, but his reaction was clearly showing that Paradigm blew him away!
My pal didn't know LTE too, and the punk took the CD from me after we left, to listen it at his home! :) -- CyberDuke, in the season of converting ppl to prog.

Didn't know that about this Glen guy. Anyway, all (at least, I thought they were all) guitars on Demonic were done by some guy called Eric Petersen (sp?).
Well I'm with the cd right now, and Glen Alvelais just played lead on New Eyes of the Old, although there were no thanks list with his name, he is in the photo with the band (he is the guy in the middle). Yep, Eric Peterson wrote all the songs, and played almost all the guitar stuff, except for that lead..
