    >HOW DARE YOU, YOU OFFENSIVE LITTLE FUCK!

LOL! Fight fire with fire, I always say. Someone flaming someone for their
    flaming method. LOL.

Personally, I thought it was funny. Maybe because I don't get all bent out
of shape at the drop of a hat. Welcome to reality boy-o. There's no such
thing as lenience and peace and non-prejudice. Until people can start
laughing at themselves, this world's gonna remain a shithole, so just sit
    back and enjoy the smell.

BTW, the statement "gay as it gets" is a misnomer. The pronoun "it" implies
a genderless entity, therefore it can have no sexual preference.

Stone Korg is as gay as he gets.

Apparently you never listened to "The Dungeons Are Calling" or "Sirens." I don't seem to hear the wrod pussy come to mind there. Those two albums probably have some of Jon's most "evil" vocals. Check them out if you haven't already.

I haven't heard all of Biomech yet, but thanks to a kind soul who ripped Infinity, I have been allowed to hear it in its entirety before buying it. It has a good mix of songs, which is why I like it more than Biomech. This is probably not the common concensus however. There are cookie monster death vocals, what my boyfriend calls "shred metal polka", a silly trombone solo right in the middle of a rocking song, and some songs which absolutely blow me away. Like "Dynamics"... I just shudder with pleasure listening to this because it's SO deliciously heavy. I don't know what Devin did, but there is so much depth and emotion to this song, you can play it at a whisper's volume and still get the impact. Please check it out. And then send me a copy.

    > Do you honestly believe you can stop someone sending emails by removing > him from this list? He won't receive the Jam anymore, sure, but he can > still send his top 45 (or 50, I'm not sure which digest this message will > appear in). > > Touch with reality needed.

Shit, you came down on whoever said this a little hard, doncha think? I don't know if ytsjam is one of those lists because I didn't read that nice letter that arrived in my inbox when I first subscribed like a good girl would have, but 2 of the mailing lists I am are as such: if you are not on the list, you cannot send mail. I tried to send mail to such a list from an alternate email address and it bounced back to me. So maybe we're not as out of touch with reality as you think.

He is not joking when he says layered. Ocean Machine as well as Infinity have the most 'thick' sound I have ever heard. Devin also likes to layer his voice quite a bit too.

By the way, I picked up SYL No Sleep till Bedtime. I don't know how they pull this stuff off live!!! Gene Hoglan (sp?) plays very tastefully with his bass drums here. It's not always a steady stream of notes like an M-16 but more broken up with more rests between the notes. I can't wait to hear what Devy has in store for us next. == John Parks jpyyz@yahoo.com

Damn! This is place is so flaming, it's turning into a homo list! ;O)

Come on Si, did you forget to add your sarcasm indicator or a smiley at the end of your post?

The only topic related to sexual preferences that was specifically banned was calling Derek a "flaming homo", "gay as a hootenanny", "queer as a 3 dollar bill" or a "swishy fashion nightmare". But after Derek assured us himself that he only has sex with multiple women or passable transexuals, we stopped giving him a hard time. ;o)

Innuendos about other jammers sexual orientation or preferences are always acceptable, even encouraged.

Why? You're providing an opinion :)

    > p.s. When I die, I want to be re-incarnated as Tori's piano stool...

Now this just goes too far, Si! Think about what you've said there and how demeaning it is to piano stools! I'm calling at least the Wood Carpenter's Union and the Musician's Union on you!!!! :)

It's times like these that call for some random Frank Zappa quotes:

"I'm not going to be Bill Clinton and say I never inhaled. I did inhale. I liked tobacco a lot better."

"Here I stand hoping against hope that it's a chick with a low voice" _ Frank, at a concert in Beloit, Wisconsin 1968 or 69 a guy in the audience yelled out, "Eat me Zappa".

"Remember there's a big difference between kneeling down and bending over."

and finally, Zappa in prime form:

"And all the rest of whom for which to whensonever of partially indeterminate bio-chemical degredation. Seek the path to the sudsy yellow nozzle of their foaming nocturnal parametric digital whole-wheat inter-faith geo-thermal terpsichorean ejectamenta."

THIS MESSAGE IS IN SARCASTIC, SEMI-INTELLIGENT FORMAT. Since your dumb ass STILL does not understand this manner of speech, nor alternate definitions of commonly-used negative-loaded words, some or all of this message may not be legible.

For your knowledge, Mr. Living-on-the-edge-of-handle-oops-I-just-fell-off, acting gay, in many standard usage situations, has nothing to do with sexual preference. Something or someone being or acting gay is often compared to being or acting stupid. But even if he were saying that top-40-list man was actually as homosexual as is humanly possible, so what? Have we become so sensitive to good, old-fashioned name-calling that we can't call someone gay? :-D

On the other hand, Doctor "Greaseman" Mosh, who implied that people from Africa are stupid because they use AOL, should be tarred, feathered, and shaved (maybe not in that particular order, mind you) ASAP.

I know I haven't been posting or hanging out in the channel much recently, but I have had a lot to do. One of those things is the new FAQ. There have been tons of changes, and a major re-structuring of what was there before.

The new version is online at http://www.prognosis.com/gabbo/dt/faq/ and linked from UaCM. Right now, only the graphics heavy version is available, but I should have a FAQ Lite and text only version out sometime this weekend.

The Mirror site list has been removed from the FAQ for the time being, since it was in such disarray I decided to start it from scratch. If you maintained a mirror site before and would like to continue, or if you are interested in mirroring the FAQ on your site, please email me. I'm looking mostly for commercial or ISP hosts; in other words, no .edu domains (unless you work there).

Please look it over and let me know what you think. If you see any errors, have any additional information, or if your question is still unanswered, let me know and I will get things taken care of.

Once again, thank you all for your patience on the time lapse since the last update, I hope you find the new version was worth the wait.

Rob (and others who may be interested), The Dixie Dregs also put out at least one album under the name "The Dregs". I've only managed to find it as a used LP, but I haven't really searched for it on CD either, so who knows. The name of the album is Unsung Heroes.

Two other albums that you didn't mention: the first is Night of the Living Dregs (1979), which is an album of all new material, half of which are studio recordings, the other half of which are live recordings. The second is Bring 'Em Back Alive (1992), which is the DD live album. It's fantastic! The bass work is done by Dave LaRue of the Steve Morse Band, and he's equally as incredible as West. The album includes songs off every album except Full Circle, which (as I understand it) came after BEBA. It also includes a version of Zeppelin's "Kashmir", which kicks. There are four tracks on BEBA that are unaccounted for in any of the aforementioned (including What If and Free Fall) studio albums, so I'm guessing that perhaps there is one or two other "The Dregs" albums out there somewhere. Anyone know?

Andy West does use a pick. Other albums they have done are- Night of the Living Dregs, Unsung Heroes, Bring 'Em Back Alive, Dregs of This Earth, and the best of. I just have the best of, which is good. I also have a "Best of Prog Rock Live from King Biscuit" thing that has two of their songs-Cruise Control and Ice Cakes. Its a good cd, it also has stuff from ELP, greg lake, rick wakeman, and some others. Well, hope i helped.
