heard a rumour that Stanley Kubrick died today.. is this true? If it is..
it is certainly a great loss of creativity. I believe he would be 70
years old. Take a moment to watch 2001 or A Clockwork Orange or any of
your favourite Kubrick movies.
cheers.

All I want to know is, what's the definition of a "true" ytsejammer?
Someone who remembers arastar.com and SloppyJoe69?
Someone who's been in a flamewar with Ptacek?
Someone who owns every single CD in existence that involves DT (bootleg,
official, tributes, etc)?
Someone who doesn't give a flying fuck if there's off-topic content on the
list as long as it's constructive?

That's right, folks, it's about that time for me to once again plug my
KICKASS ytsejam shirt.
This year, about 950 of you will suffer - needlessly - because you have
too many geeky shrunken shirts, and when you wear them in public,
sporting phrases like "Eat My Shorts" and "Funkin' Groovin'", everyone
will be laughing at you behind your back, and you'll have no sex. Please
don't let the tragedy continue.
For just $18 dollars, which includes shipping, you can add my great
Ytse-shirt to your collection. Any Dream Theater fan, on the list or
not, looks good in one. It's black, 5 bright colors, it's top quality,
what the hell kind of METAL fans do you people think you are, anyway?
You need this shirt, and you need it now, before they're gone for good!
(disclaimer: that will never happen. I can always get more.)
People all over the world are starving and dying and listening to
"Puberty Love"(Attack of the Killer Tomatoes soundtrack, people. Stay
with me.). They have to suffer, you most certainly do not. Men! Cover
that pasty, caved in, she-man chest of yours with a ytsejam shirt.
Ladies! Wrap it, cinch it, tuck it, pinch it! Join the growing legions
who've bought the shirt, tried the cream, and watched their lives take
off(disclaimer: There is NO ytse-cream, but considering recent
discussions, there ought to be).
18 bucks, 15 without shipping. 2 colors on front, 3 on back. This is a
really great looking, thick cotten tee. There are scanned pictures on my
website, and all the other info. Check the ytsepage section I built for
this reason, and this reason alone. If you have no web access, ask me or
the plenty of customers who've bought the shirt what it looks like and
if it's really all that.
Do it now!

For the ytse-jammers that play keyboard :).
I've downloaded a program called SurReal (demo version) and it rocks! It is a computer sintetyzer, you plug the keyboard with a MIDI card and play with his patches. There are more than 500 patches (lots of drum sets, effects, etc). This program is very useful if you don't have a "professional" keyb (I have a Casio CTK-700), because their samples are great!
I didn't get more deep into this program, but is very cool to jam with it. I've downloaded the demo version (17megs zipped) from www.seersystems.com
Also, don't forget to check out my page, http://fast.to/frmp, with many Real Audios and MP3s of Progressive/Melodic metal bands

You obviously rejoice in the fact that yes, there is a lot of useless crap on here that isn't related to Dream Theater, or even any music in general, rather than the fact that there is also a lot of intelligent talk. You must realize that if all this list consisted of were things like Calvin's explanation of the intro to TTT or the dabate on octobans/not octobans at the beginning of 6:00, the non musicians would be bored out of their skulls. If you can't appreciate that this list is filled with talk of the other interests of many jammers, I suggect you unsubscribe. And if anyone wants "intelligent content", I dare you to carry a conversation with me about the abundance of Ne IV in highly ionized regions of planetary nebulae. No one wants to talk about DT all the time. Oh, and just for the record.. I never said *I* wanna be Tori's bench, but a good female friend of mine came out of the Tori concert here in L.A. and proclaimed to the world, "I think I just came!" ;)

Ever been to a Dream Theater gig? I have twice, and neither of the shows could complain about the number of the attendees. Intimate? Depends on what you consider that, but elbows-in-ribcage approach isn't that for me and I really had a hard time both times finding a place in the hall (or the arena) that wasn't a mosh pit.

Hello again, People,
Thanks to everyone for pointing out the Dixie Dregs albums I have yet to pick-up. I'm going order a few Dregs CDs from MusicBlvd today BUT, before I do, would anyone have any suggestions for similar Dregsy/LTE kinda CDs. I'm really looking for anything with real life and creativity about it - it doesn't have to be prog (I'm beginning to see bands that label themselves as "Prog" as a bad thing - it can sometimes force a band to do silly things to a song in order to help it retain that prog status.)
Thanks,
Rob.

"Stoned" Korg ceased playing Quake II, grabbed his keyboard, and spewed: >"Frederico 'Gay as a homosexual male sliding the hot beef injection into >a random orifice of his quivering male sexual partner whilst enjoying the >pleasurable sensations and not once feeling awkward' Barbosa."
You're [not your] truly certifiable. Unfortunately, it did make me laugh. :) Also blithely misquoting Snow was the best thing that happened to his career in the last four years.
Once again Inferno abused the English language by again abusing Freddy "Stupid morinic poster" Barbosa: >saying "my three buddies and myself share a barstool"
I'm surprised grammar policeman Korgy missed this one. Shouldn't it be "My three buddies and I get loaded and smell our stools"?
Al asked a geographical question: >Where the fuck is Lesbia?
Answer: Right between AL-jeeria and Hegyppedme. And fuck correctly sums up the leader of that country.
And finally (about bleeding time, right?), to use circular logic, and show some strangely cohesive structure to this post, Korg posted his fantasy. I suppose you'll also want the lilting strains of "Morning Mood" from Edvard Grieg's Peer Gynt as well. Either that or Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain."
P PS Icey, regarding your aversion to [g***e], pardon some of us for being edjumasmacated. And teached well, too.

Hehe... I know I'm 5-6 years late on this one, but I have to get this off my chest. TDOE is fantastic!
Live at Limelight, New York, NY, 3/4/93
They kick it off with Metropolis and just keep on playing great music. Now, we've all heard these songs before, most of them both from studio and live, but the versions on TDOE are better than any versions of these songs I've heard live before. This goes especially for Eve and Wait for Sleep. Eve is played with the samples from the book "Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man". This makes the song more fairytail like, and makes it really cool. Wait for Sleep is to me even more beautiful than the studio version. Both Kevin's playing, James' singing and the rest of the guys' background music is incredible. I love the way James ends his part of the song by going up on the word "world". Also, the way James introduces A Fortune in Lies makes me smile every time I hear it.
Ytsejam is crazier than ever! I always knew the guys were the best around at playing stuff like that, but this just blew my mind! And Mike, the animal, what a drum solo! wow...
The org. ACOS was pretty cool, but in my opinion they changed it for the better. The lyrics in the released version are superiour to the org. version.
I am a little surprised about the audience though... They play for 20 minutes, and three or four (ok some more) applaud! James has to ask them for more! And in the background on some songs you can hear a leady singing to a different song, accompanied by an acoustic guitar! Maybe the recorder picked up some radio station? : )
Great show, and I thank the people behind this "release" for making it available to fans that can't go to the shows themselves. I have to thank Nick "Bogie" Bogovich in special, because he=20 made it available to EVERYBODY (that means even those=20 who have nothing to trade etc.) through LITS. (everybody knows where that is by now, right? E-mail me to find out.)
Hey, I have missed with more than 6 years before...=20 It's better late then never!=20
