    the other day i came home early to erotomania blaring through my stereo and
    to my surprise found my little brother, who just turned 13 recently, sitting
    on my couch listening. in the conversation that followed i found out that
    he usually sneeks into my room as soon as i leave for work and puts on my
    music. he went on to tell me that in front of kids his musical preference
    is alternative and ska, because that's what's cool, but in actuallity he
    hates the music and quote: "wishes it was cool to like dream theater" :)
    hehe

    he's a funny kid.. he sure had me fooled :) i thought he was unreachable..

    anyways..

    I'll be seeing them in Cincinnati. I don't know about the
    rest of their shows but the tix for Cincy show only cost
    $13. The club they are playing in Cincy is called Annies.
    I saw DT there on the second leg of the FII tour. Its a
    really good place to see shows. (going to see Kings X
    there July 24th hehe) Are any of you jammers gonna make it
    to either if these shows?

    JC, there's just no room for this kind of violence on the jam. You
    aren't a Marilyn Manson fan, by any chance, are you? :)

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    WAAF is a local (Boston area) rock music station, one of only a couple
    around here that play cool music at least some of the time. They are
    also known for having some hilarious segments where DJs play practical
    jokes or whatever.
    I found the following cool and funny:
    They are attempting to raise $25,000 to help the refugees (that were) in
    Kosovo. What they've done is taken a brand new Yugo (heheheh) that's
    been donated and taken it out to a junkyard (128 Used Auto Parts, Chrlie
    Mantenuto's place out there in Waltham, for any locals that might want
    to check this out :)
    The car is raised up on a crane to a significant height, and supposedly
    the DJs are camping out in it until the 25K are raised. Once this
    happens, they will exit the vehicle and it is then dropped :)))) I love
    it!
    Rumor has it that the dropping will occur today at 5PM.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    > CAN U BELIEVE THIS SHIT????
    > NO ONE BUT NO ONE should try and direct a persons musical vision

    But don't you think it's about time we started directing the masses
    toward the one and only true way? Joke 'em if they can't take a fuck!
    With this and the above in mind, I thought the following might be
    appropriate

    In an effort to raise money for a ProgFest TOUR, including Dream Theater
    of course, paper machee likenesses of the Spice Girls are constructed.
    They are purposely made oversized, 1) to match their egos and 2) for
    easy viewing from a distance (this will become clear in a moment)

    The likenesses are then each secured by the neck in nooses and raised up
    on the crane, with proper tethering of course, to a fatal height.

    Now don't you agree this is much better, JC? And much less violent than
    your reaction. No one gets hurt :)

    If you like, the 'make love not war' element can be implied. Have the
    ladies performing rude acts on the cast of the New Kids On The Block,
    also restrained in nooses. Since NKOTB are from around here, this might
    also draw up some local interest :)

    That is most certainly true, and you will see if you look again, that I
    did not type it as a plural. I used the apostrophe showing the possessive.
    It is their album. Otherwise, it would be Friends', no es verdad?

    Unfortunately, there is no date whatsoever. I was sure is was pre 1973.
    We are talking about the same band, Lawton is in the credits.

    I figured we were. Although, I went from allmusic's database. When I got
    home, I looked at _Groupies_ and it gave the date as 1972, and I believe
    it is the second album. So your album may indeed be from 70/71. My

                                        GIANT ELECTRIC PEA
                                        GEPCD 1014
                                        Running time: 56.25

    Line-up:
    Glynn Morgan (vocals) - Karl Groom (guitar and acoustic) - Nick
    Midson (guitar) - Richard West (keyboards and orchestration) - Jon
    Jeary (bass guitar and additional vocals) - Nick Harradence
    (drums)

    Songs:
    Sunseeker (8.16) A Tension of Souls (7.09) Into the light (10.00)
    Will to Give (4.59) Under the Sun (3.04) Babylon Rising (4.32) He
    Is I Am (5.51) Innocent (4.36) Devoted (7.43)

    This is the follow up to Thresholds excellent debut album. Their
    vocalist Damian Wilson left the band before this album to sing
    with Landmarq. The new singer Glynn Morgan was a decent
    replacement for Damian Wilson, and this album is heavier and more
    progressive than their debut "Wounded Land". Tony Grinham, the
    drummer, also left before this album to spend more time with his
    family. He was temporary replaced by Nick Harradence.

    It's nice to hear that Threshold isn't just an ordinary Dream
    Theater clone, as so many other progressive metal bands. Threshold
    has made themselves a sound of their own. On this release their
    music is somewhere between progressive metal, Heavy Metal and
    Power Metal, with many mood and tempo changes and beautiful
    melodies.

    My favourites on this album is the opening "Sunseeker", "Into The
    Light", "Babylon Rising", "Innocent" and "Devoted".

    This is a very nice album even though it isn't as good as their
    debut album "Wounded Land".

    In the man's defense, as I made this mistake (and was subsequently
    corrected) as well. Myung IS a Japanese name. Now it might be Korean too for
    all I know.. I do not profess ANY knowledge of the Korean language or Korean
    culture. However, I do know a bit about Japan in those areas (A BIT I said,
    so don't go flaming me by testing my knowledge) and can assure you that not
    only does Myung exist as a name among the Japanese, but it is also fairly
    common(as both a first and a last name). Anyway, the point is that it's easy
    for someone to make a mistake, and it's certainly not drawn out of complete
    ignorance. blah.

    Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I'm a collector of wrongheaded writings....

    now I'm not saying that this is the way that it is.. i understand that there is a gap between the way things are and the way things should be... or at least better... to some degree....

    what I find disgusting is the premise that people have short attention spans and that you have to feed into the declining trend in the value of investing time and effort into anything that you do.... when you think about the sloth that works in the same office or store or whatever that you do and you think about how they never do their job right or never put any effort into anything they do and when you think about the brother or sis that seems to be drifting through life and you just hope that someday they will find something to give them a reason to absorb the wonderful world and to engage in living again... in not letting life live them. think about this article and about how people are advocating that we never challenge people. that music should never be about getting a person to take attention away from the carefully crafted commercials long enough for them to realize that if they just used their mind more then they wouldnt have to use their wallets as much.... that enjoying life is a matter of challenging yourself with creativity and learning and paying attention to the things that are amazing... a well writtten song, a carefully crafted work of art... a friend with a great zest for life, a lover that really truly loves you...

    greatness makes you think... comes in all shapes and sizes and forms...and makes you pay attention... this article advocates that your art should reflect the overwhelming trend towards mediocrity. I personally would rather never make a penny from my music rather than know that i contributed to the loss of american mental vitality.

    i owe so much to the artists that showed me through their art that there is so much more to life than giving in...

    this type of mentality is an insult to anyone striving to transcend typical consumerism where you are slowly manipulated into having a short attention span... a need for instant gratification... no pride in your own individuality and ability to acheive... where you are susceptable to the advertisements offering you an endless stream of products that instantly gratify... fall apart... and leave you wanting more....

    thank you for listening... if you got this far :-)
