Actually, Myung is predominantly a Korean name, and is NOT very common at
all in Japanese.

UpStairs at Nick's is located at 2nd and Market streets in Odle City, Philadelphia. Very easy to get to from all the major roads (95,1, 76, etc, etc). Email me for directions (I'll see what I can do ). No idea about the cost, but it's a club show, so it shouldn't go for any more than 15.

hmm.. actually stating it was common was probably overstepping myself a bit.. but I do know of cases where it has existed. As for the Korean bit, like I said I know nothing about it. Ah well.. I'll back down on this one.

The SB mailing list has had a couple posts about Nick's. One said: >>It's the 2nd floor above Nick's Roast Beef, hence the name. It's on 16 S 2nd St. The number is (215) 928-0665.<<
The other said: >>It's on 2nd and Market Street in downtown Philly. The place is a very weird one to see a show. It's only recently become a "progressive" hangout of sorts (I've seen one too many punk shows there) with shows like Finneus Gauge and Bon Lonzaga. Downstairs is, oddly enough, Nick's Restaurant (great roast beef sandwiches) hence the name "Upstairs At Nick's" which is upstairs.<<
I haven't found out the ticket prices yet (I just called and they weren't open), but I have heard from several people that tix are on sale at the door, only on the night of the show. I haven't managed to find the showtime yet either. :( I'm working on it though.

You know, this is totally bogus. I just looked at the ARts Center, (pnc bank, formerly garden state arts center in holmdel NJ), and the only good show there is going to be Roger Waters. I would give up my testicles to see the Beard, and as usual, the East coast people are sleeping. Man, I am depressed. I wonder how many trains it would take to get to phillie.

Brian, you're right. If I remember correctly, most Japanese names end in a vowel. Myung is DEFINITELY not a Japanese name. I seem to remember that Myung is a Korean name.
Not that I'm an expert on the subject.

I always hate it when I post stuff that fifty other people have also posted on prior to my posting. So I apologize for adding to something that had already been done to submission - in effect, I was just beating a dead horse.
In the future, I'll try to read ALL of the posts before I write a word.

Me neither. I don't know shit about Korean or Japanese. I just know that Mr. John Myung hath personally stated that he is of Korean descent. Once again, as if it matters or something. The Tae Kwon Do thing was a joke anyway... :-P

You could always take the train to 30th street. I'd pick you up from there if you'd like. Or, you can take the taxi down to 2nd and Market.
