Everyone--
The tour is off for the time being. The band has been having problems with
their record label (Snapper), from whom they've recently departed. Check
their homepage (www.execpc.com/~mwerning) for the latest in rebooking info.
Sorry for the awful news,

The idea for a Ytsecon was a good one. Unfortunately, there was no one
in charge of the organization, and the list was just a bunch of people
sending emails asking "Hello? Is anyone out there?" and some posts
sepeculating on when to have dates. I unsubbed from the list a while
ago because it was a joke. I foudn that the LTE concert out here in LA
was a mini con, and jammers usually get together whenever there is a big
concert.

Message-ID: <CMAIDNJOGGEEAAAA@shared2-mail.whowhere.com>
Hello Everyone,
I thought I would try Amorphis out the tother day so I bought a tap of theirs called "My Kantele". I am hoping that this is a bunch of "B side" because it was so lousy and I was angry enough to rip it out of my player and smash it agianst the wall. I should have used my brains and asked the people on the list what is a good album to start with for Amorphis. I have heard that some of their latest efforts are very proggish?
Also, while perusing the "heavy metal" section of a local cd shop I came across a band called "Narnia". Can any tell me anything about them? The reason I ask is because C.S. Lewis's "The Chronicles of Narnia" were my favorites when I was a kid.
Thanks for any answers!

Wassup guys and dolls....
I'm back online now....finally.....My Mac and I had a bit of fallingout
.more line a 2 month long wrestling match... It was kicking my ass for
like 7 weeks, and i finally smashed it with a folding chair, and it started
working again....man i never thought watching WWF would pay off....
anywho... i ordered some CD's from my local independent record store... the
ELP tribute, Explorer's Club, and LTE. He tried ordering Symphony X and
thought it was comming but the suplier was out. He's supposed to keep
trying... i guess i'll see tomorrow when i go there..... I liked the ELP
tribute, but since i never really listened to ELP before i didn't have the
impact on me that it might have had on others. LTE was great. and stayed in
my cd player for about 2 weeks...then came Explorer's Club.... MAN that CD
is FUCKING GREAT! I love it...... i was describing it to a friend, "Dude,
it's like Alcatraz, Dream Theater, and a little Queensryche....", "Holy
shit," he said...... i love this CD and hope to see a second cd from this,
albeit large, group...If you don't have it...GET IT!!!.
Ok now for a question. I tried to order Rhapsody: ...sounds from enchanted
lands (?). and he could get it but it was a german import and is like $70.
Wassup with this? Is it like 3 CDs or something?... is it worth the money??
thanks guys...

Message-ID: <2e1ab88a.24623883@aol.com>
Hola friends,
According to MusicBlvd, the rumor going around with Van Halen is that
even though they are in the studio working on a new album with Gary Cherone,
their record company is pressuring to them to get David Lee Roth back in the
band or else. Of course VH denies this right now, but it's definitely
believable. Another interesting thing is that if this is true, isn't it too
bad that after all of the great albums VH has put out- all going platinum or
more (until VH3), that the record company would give them an altimatum(sp?)
like this? Talk about greed!

iv'e been listening to DT for about 3 years now, and ever since i first heard metropolis, ive been hooked!!..but thats not the point..my question is, and i hope some people can answer it for me is..whats with all the changing of keyboard players???? i mean if they get rid of one thats fine but kicking out derek too??..i mean when they auditions derek a few years back they also auditioned jordan....and we know they choose derek. but now they say jordan is what they are looking for..why wasnt he what they wanted before...??????well anyway... my question is..with everyone doing side project..is there anyone else who is afriad maybe sometime down the road soon, that DT will be no more..and we will think of these 5 Amazingly talented musicians as solo artists??..the only reason i bring this up is...there just so much activity around DT and there members..and i never came across a band that does so much more then just make Band albums...if anyone has any answers to these questions..please post them, and email me them becuase i dont get all the dogests for some odd reason...thanks!! Ummm yeah! Which one do you hear? The voice of the lead singer is rather like Geddy Lee of Rush; but it is as if somebody's been strangled him with barbwire=85HEHEHEHE!
But for the music itself, I think that Pavlov's Dog only has two good album, that is "Pampered Menial" and "At The Sounds Of The Bell" . I think that the one you've been hearing is the first one.=20 The second one ("At The Sounds Of The Bell"); They've got Bill Brufford PLAYING!!!! ( and if I'm not mistaken, somebody here actually mentioned that if a band has Bill Brufford, the band has a high possibilities to be a prog one=85) And on this album, the music is a bit soft; not like the first one =85 But they both ROCK!
O yeah, the second album also has other strange names like Michael Brecker and Andy Mackay=85

Well, if I'm not mistaken, they DID ask Jordan if he'd join them, but he, for many reasons, wouldn't join up with DT. I believe that it had something to do with the Dixie Dregs being better for his family, and having a kid? Something like that.
So there's your answer as to why they didn't take Jordan when they auditioned.

The fancy word is chromatics, or half-steps if you like. I didn't forget them. There just aren't many examples. Sure, the jaws one, but nobody needs help for a minor second. And almost all of your other examples come from a musical about gay puerto-rican biker gangs.
Now that I think about it, though, if anyone wants a good example for the tri-tone, how about "Again" off the last AIC album? If the bass line is your starting point, the "hey...." is your augmented 4th. AIC is king of funked up intervals, they're great that way.
>Well, first of all, that's wrong. A major seventh (i.e. a C to the B >above it) would NOT be on the "where" but rather on the "o" part of >"over".
That mistake was pointed out to me, and I ended up coming to the same conclusion - the seventh would be the third note. Hey, I learned this stuff 9 years ago.
But thanks for your clarity, Andrew.

Here are some proggish bands/artists going on tour what haven't already been pointed out on this digest (to my knowledge anyway).
Fish is going on tour in North America (that's the U.S., Canada, *and* Mexico) not too far in the future.
http://web.ukonline.co.uk/fish/new_gigs.htm
Adrian Belew is supposed to tour the U.S. in June, but, as of yet, no dates've been announced. Sounds a little fishy to me. (Unintentional horrible pun, that. Don't pay it any mind.)
And Porcupine Tree (also hitting a number of U.S. cities)...

hate it when you got something to say, and your mail system barfs, and by the time you can get back on it's all been said.....
like my subject.....and the fact that Jon Parmet is fully capable of the Kingdom of Sarcastia....and some other stuff
anyway, there's always more to be said
like the fact that maybe it's a good thing in my book that the Ozrics tour will be delayed, seeing as how I was gonna have a rough time making it to their scheduled May 22 show in Detroit.....
and like the fact that I found it extremely hillarious that some guy went looking for the Ytsecon 99 page, couldn't find it and asked, "is there going to be a con this year?" Funny he should ask, seeing as he's already seemed to have found it....
(actually, I shouldn't say that, I may be unfairly impugning the folks in charge)
and the top ten lists.....actually, I might be interested in Korgy's take....and Ptacek's, if only to see how many Ron Thal albums he could fit into the top ten.....the only one from my list that I'd be absolutely compelled to share with you all is the album, "Unfolded Like Staircase" from the Detroit area band "Discipline." You'd all be doing yourselves a huge favor by finding out about this album........
(to say) anything else would be uncivilized
partha
(but then i had to go and spoil the civility which reigned for such a short time) further proof that Pamela Anderson's brains are concentrated in her tits.....she got a breast reduction, and all of a suden, she's back with Tommy Lee.........
