Emotional DT moment/song, like you care...Ah well, here we go.
    Everybody's doing it.

The bridge to Scarred with JP's shimmering chords and fantastic
lyrics. Then, there's the whole band building gradually to
James' hitting the high note on "...won't."

ACOS. LITS. LTL. Geez...maybe I should just say IAW, Awake,
    ACOS, and FII...

I'd have to say that the song which conveys the most emotion to me is
Space-Dye Vest. Not so much the lyrics, but the music is what does it to
    me...turns on the waterworks...

On another topic, I'll be at the Manchester NH JP/MP clinic tomorrow, I'll
be wearing an Insane Clown Posse t-shirt and jeans like A. Coutermarsh,
but I have red hair, in case you should want to tell us apart. See you
    there...

I second that! From the first time I heard that tune I was awestruck.
The fade-out (to me) is the perfect ending to a truly great song.
     -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I thought the same thing too when I first heard the song, but you won't
believe what happened when i got my first bootleg of the scarred on the cd
Darkest of Winters, James clearly forgets the words to the chorus!!!!! I
don't know if any of you have heard this, but it's kinda funny. Someone back
    me up on this!!!

Anyone have Dali's Dilemma yet? I'm not gonna get it for a long time cause I
ordered it along with LTE2 from cdnow to get the 10 bucks off, so it won't be
here til middle of june so I wanna know what you guys think. Thanks! bye!

Hey, just tell me, how can you be sure how I feel about that? Dream Theater
is one of my favorite bands and it's really sad to me to see their fans get
mad at me because of a mistake I made. I just think this matter doesn't need
further discussion, the one that's bitching about anything is the one that
    claims sth without proving it.

I hope not every ytsejammer feels like that about this matter,

I dunno. The ending to Carpe Diem always gets me. Just as it builds up to
the end and then James just simply says, "Goodbye." That part is my
favorite of all. Although John's solo in Scarred really gets me, too. And
Another World. I think ACoS is one of James' more emotive moments.

But that may just be me.

    Hello fellow Jammers,

I have been receiving the YTSEJAM list for about six months, however, I have never replied to it. (with the exception of one failed effort) I am currently a soldier in the Army, stationed in Korea... Much like the states, most of the local Koreans have no idea who Dream Theater is... Much to my eternal dismay! What I was trying to figure out is one, will DT be touring anywhere near here after the tentative release of their new album, and two, has anyone ever been stationed here who may be able to give me an idea of where a soldier such as myself might be able to find some "good music"? The Post Exchange does not offer a wide variety of music. (they do have three copies of OIAL, suprisingly enough) Furthermore, I am trying to find some of those "hard to find" DT bootlegs, EP's, LP's, etc... I am one of the several Americans who does not have a credit card, so buying CD's over the internet usually proposes to be a problem... Any advice from anyone whom has ever bought anythingover the internet? It would be greatly appreciated... Last kick in the head, I missed the DT show in Wichita, KS... Did anyone see that show, and if so, how was it... I had tickets, but I was unable to attend do to an UNTIMELY field deployment... Noone would buy the tickets, so I pretty much took that one in the arse...

more like...if you liked the first one, you're gonna like this one too....and if you didn't like the first one....well, I still like it through two weeks, so let's see if it holds up

some verrrrrry nice stuff on there, though, biaxident with its passive /agressive groove, when the water breaks, with the baby crying somewhere between 12 and 13 minutes in, chewbacca (cashing on the SW hype?) with its homicidal psycho jungle cat subtlety (apologies to Watterson) (i think that's the dude who does cal and hob)

and no weird vocalizations a la chris and kevin, i was glad to not hear that repeated.....

New Tiles and new Dali's need no such "wait and see" caveats, those two bands have created albums ("presents of mind" and "manifesto for futurism", respectively) of which they should be very proud.

Having read an interview with Dave Meros in Bass Professor magazine and having heard all the positive comments on DFN I went to the record shop and bought myself DFN. F**ING COOL STUFF!!! Yet, one thing struck me... Why did Dave say that one piece on DFN was more than 20 minutes long?? After having heard through the CD the last three days with continuos repeat I have come up with following theory: Could it be that songs 8-14 actually are one song split into 7 pieces? What supports this theory: - Together these parts are 22:42 minutes long (more than 20) - Somehow these parts fit together (Healing colors..,My shoes) having similarities and using leitmotifs (sp).

By the way, is anyone going to be at the Spock's Beard concerts on 5.Aug in Krefeld and 14.Sept in Bochum? I'll be there for sure.

Well that was my comment for today.

    Hi Guys & Gals,

Jordan here. I'm kind of new to ytsejam but what I've seen looks pretty cool.

I saw the review here that said...

"Threshold is Prog Metal at its best, and with this release (Clone) I think they deserve the same attention as Dream Theater. This is one of the best Prog Metal releases for 1998. Highly recommended!"

..so I just had to write to endorse this!

You can now hear soundfiles from every song on Threshold's "Clone" CD at http://www.erotomania.org/threshold which is a very cool site.

Threshold supported DT a few years ago in Europe and it was truly a match made in heaven. I hope they'll perform together again soon!

    love Jordan x

If you're using an EQ, and have not > done this, you're not using it correctly and are probably doing more > harm than good. The bottom line: Tone controls and EQs are for > people that don't have the balls to do it right. Fix your room! Well, this is a bit unfair. Firstly, you can't say you're not using it correctly; at the end of the day, EQ on a sterio system is there to improve the sound the listener hears. So in using it for that purpose, you're using it correctly; albeit not perhaps in the manner that people with any detailed knowledge of EQ would. Second, there is NO WAY that you can suggest that you'd do more harm than good. I mean, that's just nonsense. If it sounds better to the listener, then that's good, right? Okay, so in an ideal world, we'd all be sound engineers and know exactly how to use everything in the way it was intended. But then, that would make my degree useless.
