I have to agree on the value of the Panasonic VCRs. We've been
using the Panasonic PV-4664 (which is similar to the current PV-9664)
for a couple years now. We're very happy with it. It has consistently
better recording quality at SP and SLP than our other VCRs. It also
has some cool features like commercial advance (fast forwards over
commercials) which really makes TV shows flow more smoothly. If you
watch Babylon 5 (and you should), watching without commercials is the
    only way to go... ;-)
The price is decent. I think it lists for $249 and you should
be able to find it for less (www.camcorder.net has it listed for
$199). When I get another VCR it will be a Panasonic.

Well, I don't know what you expect, but my cable modem is all
I expected it to be. For $40/month I can avoid paying $20/mo for an
extra phone line and another $20/mo for an ISP so my cost breaks
even. Plus, it is FAST. I downloaded a 70 meg file in 12 minutes the
other day just for fun. ;) Having the 24 hour instant high-bandwidth
access makes the internet much more useful. My wife and I now use it
all the time for stuff like checking local movie times and so on.
