Get Gordian Knot - yesterday. It's that good. Many people here will back

    Ahoy,

While we're all waiting for the arrival of the new Dream Theater
album, I thought I'd drop a quick note to those TYPE O NEGATIVE fans on the
    list:

    -------
TYPE O NEGATIVE's new album, "WORLD COMING DOWN" will be released SEPTEMBER
21st; that's this coming TUESDAY (in the US)!
    -------

More information on the album can be found at their homepage:
    http://members.aol.com/daveburger/ . There's a small store here where I live
that will be staying open until midnight on Monday for the release - you can
bet I'll be there! That is all - Tugmutton out!

Here's what I thought of the Spock's Beard show last night in Offenbach,
    Germany:

    Positive:
    - the band was really having fun and you could see it
    - Ryo Okumoto's solo (not really for the music, but just for how it looked
    like :-))
    - the 20+ minute version of "The Doorway" (ok 20 minutes may be
    exaggerated but maybe not)
    - you wouldn't find any other band where the singer and the drummer do a
two-acoustic-guitar solo that just blows you away
    - they played for more than 125 minutes
    - the guitarist who replaced Alan Morse (didn't get his name, sorry) did a
great job (but why does he have to tune his guitar after each song?)
    - the crowd singing along to "June" etc.
    - I liked some of the songs from "Day For Night" that I didn't really get into
    before
    - once again I was impressed by the great musicianship of all band members

    Negative:
    - the temperature in the club
    - I didn't meet Neil Gallop
    - the lights: You couldn't really see Nick D'Virglio (at the time he was playing
    drums, that is)
    - they didn't play "Thoughts"
    - I like it heavier

Great show!!! Go see them if you can!!!

Here's the note Alan sent to the Thoughts list on September 7th: ----------------------------------------------------------------

I am sorry to let you all know that, due to business & personal obligations, I will not be performing with The Beard during the first part of our upcoming European tour. I will not be playing the September 13 through 24 dates. I will rejoin the guys in Paris on the 25th and play the rest of the gigs through the end of the tour on October 2nd in London.

I'm not leaving the band or anything, I just can't be gone that long right now.

Covering the guitar & vocal duties for me will be David Levita. David was in Kevin Gilbert's Kaviar with Nick, worked with Jason Faulkner of Jellyfish & is just an amazingly talented guy. He brings a real special twist to the band.

I apologize for any disappointment this might cause anyone. The shows will still be very much Beard shows. I know the guys, including David, will give it their all, like we always try to do. Hope to see you all soon. -- Alan Morse

That WAS a real piano in LITS on FII, right? Either that or his Korg sample is REALLY REALLY realistic - I could swear there were too many different sounds coming from it (as for, say staccato playing ambience and harp resonance) to be a sample, unless it was a really high-quality one.

Somebody set me straight on this. I know DS used a real piano for Anna Lee, but what about LITS as well?

    hi all,

I heard from a friend in the US saying all the old ('80s) metal bands are getting new record deals. Also, someone was saying VH1 has suddenly turned cool, plays more hard songs instead the old Maryah Carry/Celene Dion crap that they used to play when I was there? Up until now everyone had nothing good on the 80s music stuff. I guess these things go in circles. We did the same about the 70's stuff during the 80's while a lot of people wanted to bring back the 'disco' era. It's just cool as long as musicians/artists bring in the good stuff from the past and move forward. The only thing we can hope for is that the 'posey hairspray' doesn't get in the way but while I was catching mtv and channel-V here it does seem to be coming in again with the '90s' twist. And it's sicker than ever. Should we still call them alternative since they are the mainstream right now. It seems Rocks the alternative music now doesn't it.

Just don't know what to do till the 26th so blabbering on guys. I wonder how the Megadeth albums gonna be like?

Haha! I had to do a double-take . . . I actually read this as "I'm notorious for shaking and peeing on Xmax & birthday presents."

One Christmas, my grandmother went to wake up my younger sister (she would've been about 8 (my sister, not my grandmother)). My sister was half-asleep as she was carried downstairs to open her presents. She peed all over my grandmother. I thought it was funny. :-)

Last Christmas, my brother managed to guess EVERYTHING in his stocking, and even some of the stuff in MY stocking - just by looking at it and touching it. No shaking, sniffing or any other method - he just managed to guess everything that was in it. Blew my mind.
