Just want to recommend the new Pink Floyd live recording of the Wall to
everyone. It sounds incredible. It's unbelievable how crystal clear it
sounds, especially since the recordings are 20 years old. It sounds better
than the studio album IMO. By the way, does anyone know if there are any
boots aound of Roger's original demo for the album?

Awake is one of faves too; it's the one I listen to the most. I think that
[contrary to Kev's own opinion] Kev Mo's keyboards on Awake are some of his
best, and of course I love S-DV (Except for one of the samples, which
produces a high-frequency whine that kills my ears if I listen to it on my
discman, but whatever). As for using the
Awake team to produce a new album, although it could be cool, I don't see
exactly what this would accomplish; The guitar sound, as stated by Petrucci,
was a result of him working with Steve Blucher [of DiMarzio] on his pickups
and wiring system, which means that with his new rack and his new EB-MM
guitar he won't be able to get that sound again. As for the album itself, the
sound of it had a lot to do with Kev Mo's being unsatisfied with being in the
band {And JP buying the 7-string) which made the whole mood a lot more dark.
Unless JP or MP feels like packing up and going home, I don't think they can
recapture that mood; would they even want to? Not exactly pleasant working
    conditions.

As a whole, I think Awake is quite a departure from the other DT albums. But,
being a bassist, I think Myung's bass should be turned up! GAAAHHH!!! He has
so many cool lines on this album, and you can't hear them well unless he's
playing solo. This is even worse on SFAM! I didn't even notice half his lines
until I listened to it with headphones. Bad producers. Bad MP. Bad JP. Whack!
    :-)

Dude! are you on crack?! heh i mean .. SFAM is the most bass heavy DT album yet.
Its very clear and out there. Even more so than on FII (which also brought the
Bass in front of the mix)

    Hey all,
I am looking for a specific MP3. It is the YTSE JAM adapted for the piano,
I had it at one time, but lost it due to the inevitable Windows errors and
screw-ups the sometimes causes the nasty idea, the fatal REFORMAT. E-mail
    me if you have it!!!

No, we were two days late.

    Hey Al...
about the Netscape security isse you posted in the last digest, do you know
if this affects all mail sent out using Netscape (such as yahoo, hotmail)
or just those using Netscape as a mail client?
Sorry for being way off-topic, folks!

    Check out:
anything by Ozric Tentacles (who do a good mix of Arabic/Indian
and Spanish). I originally thought Home was an OT tune when I
first heard it, until I heard vocals ;)
several tunes from "Shapeshifter+" by Gong. "Master Builder"
(from their album "You") also fills the bill; highly jazzy.

You should have kept it. Error pressings are collector items

Somebody posted something in Spanish about Microsoft and AOL hookin' up
and trying to promote a beta release of the next version of IE.

Guess what.... AOL owns Netscape! AOL helping Microsoft would be akin to,
oh I don't know, the US giving nuclear weapons to China.

    Oh wait...

I've had a couple of people ask for this. My FTP site is hosted through a
modem so it's VERY slow. Does anyone want to donate 5 Meg of space on a
faster FTP site for some fellow Jammers so that don't have to suffer
    downloading it from me?

    Thanks,

You can actually download this from http://go.to/dtcovers - the actual
    link to the file is
    ftp://dtcovers:dtcovers@193.6.138.120/Ytsejam_for_piano.mp3. There are a
whole slew of other files there as well... I might put some of my covers
up once I get them recorded (I'd LOVE to do my own cover of Space-Dye
    Vest).
