Subject: This is how I organise my CDs
Message-ID: <86hf40pmir.fsf@picsel.com>
This is how I organise my CDs.
I have a mantlepiece thing above an old empty fireplace. I say
"empty", but actually it's full of ashes and dust that keeps falling
down the chimney. So I just keep all that crap hidden behind one side
of a large cardboard box which I have jammed into the space where the
fire would have been; but I still get frightened at night sometimes,
when a big lump of crap falls down the chimney and wakes me up.
(This is in my bedroom, you see.)
Anyway, back to the mantlepiece. In the centre of the mantlepiece, I
have a small mirror which I use to make myself look beautiful in the
mornings. On the right, I have some bottles of whisky and other
spirits which I have received as gifts, next to some aftershave and
other toiletries.
On the left, however, is where I keep my CDs. I have approximately 255
at the moment. In fact, I have *exactly* 255 at the moment. The full
listing is at http://www.ytse.freeserve.co.uk/ if anyone's interested.
The left side of my mantlepiece is just wide enough to hold six
individual stacks of CDs. They are all of the same approximate
height. They are not ordered. Whenever I want to listen to a CD, I
hunt through the pile to find it. And when I'm done, it goes back on
the top of whichever stack is shortest.
This self-regulating mechanism has one advantage: the CDs I like the
most, and which I listen to the most, are always near the top of one
of the stacks. Beautiful.
Neal Morse's Christmas album is steadily working its way down towards
the bottom of stack 2. Yuck.

Gilberto - wow!
Don't hate Andrew too much - he only came up with enough letters to spell Dream Theater - it seems you did the whole darn alphabet! That totally rules. Please share it with us :)

Hi, I've created a new and improved version of the Ytsejam Digest Archive. It now has a lot more digests and, even better, has a way to search the digests for the information you want. So, if you want to read about Ben Laussade's silly escapades on the Jam from the mid-nineties then you can just type his name into the search engine and it will pull up all the digests containing "laussade". The search engine isn't particularly fast, but it works pretty well as long as you use words that aren't used in every digest (eg. ytsejam). Unfortunately, I'm missing quite a few digests so if any of you out there have any archives of the Ytsejam in standard Unix mailbox format, let me know and we can fill in the archive. Enjoy!
Oh, it's also at a new URL: http://www.interzone.com/Music/Ytsejam

The REALLY FUNNY thing is that I have now registered a phone number in Hugh's full and glorious name. Call information and ask for Hugh G. Rection in Burlington Mass (helpful hint, the a/c is 781). You get a disgusted lady telling you that you are pond scum and then she finds that there is a number.
The best one was when the One Touch phone company made one of those unsolicited calls and wanted to "reach out to" Hugh G. Rection. That was entirely the most funny three minutes of my life until the dude caught on.

Cripes. Being pretty much a career lurker, it's been interesting to see some of this stuff from 1994. To throw a few more names into the fray, whatever happened to that bastard sonuvabitch Michael Coghlan? Perhaps he found God. Or Fire and Ice for that matter. The two Andrew Martins? Charone? Heather the Dragon, not Jaime the Dragon (who posted recently, I believe). Rick Terry? Rudy Van blahblahblah(UdAZ). I can't believe the number of frequent posters/IRC users that aren't around anymore, just like I can't believe those who are still here.
OK. I'm done now.

I hope somebody can get you the older digests (I know I can't)
One thing: When you do a search, the return has the subject line and date, but the date always seems to be today's date. Is that because of the upload date? Is there any way you can change that to the jam date? Otherwise, all 500+ jams seem to be from today. I know we talk a lot, but not THAT much.

According to TyTabor.com, PLATYPUS has split up into two seperate projects. Between December 2nd and December 10th Ty Tabor, John Myung and Rod Morgenstein were at the Milbrook Recording Studios to record a new album. There is no word yet as to what the project will be called, but it'll no longer be Platypus. Apparently, the new material will be more heavy and guitar-driven than both of the Platypus albums. The new album should be ready for release in Spring 2001. The other project will feature Ty Tabor of KING'S X and Derek Sherinian of PLANET X. Rumour has it that they will be joined by Gregg and Matt Bissonette if scheduling works out. They'll start working on this project in January 2001.

Dear Windows User,
Now you can boost the reliability of ordinary Windows 3.x, 95 and 98 to nearly the level of Windows NT or 2000, Microsoft's professional and industrial version of Windows.
The new WinFix 4.3 is a very effective way to improve the reliability of Windows, because it makes Windows fault-tolerant and self-repairing. And WinFix is very safe, because it operates completely independent of Windows.
http://www.thebestsales.net/comph to find out more about WinFix, the safest, most effective way to keep you working, by keeping your PC working non-stop.

Testimonial # 1 - I knew having a merchant account would increase my sales, But never thought it would be so great. In addition in being able to take major credit cards, I can also do real time credit card processing on the internet and receive orders while I am Sleeping. It's awesome! I encourage every serious business owner to get one. Thanks. M.B./MI
Testimonial # 2 - " Being a home based business owner, no one would approve me, until this came my way. I am more than grateful. Within 10 days I had my merchant account set up. I am more than pleased with the 24 hr. customer service. My business has sky rocketed because I now can accept credit card orders. " Oscar/FL ===================================================
