To the person who posted about Landry (sorry too lazy to go to the
archives right now :), there was a comic in the Editorial section of a
local paper I thought you'd get a kick out of.
The caption had both Tom and Charlie's dates of birth/death and the
picture showed Tom placeholding the ball for Charlie. Tom is grinning
saying "I promise I won't pull the ball away this time" and Charlie is
smiling "This IS heavan!"

Oh jeeze, last thing Korg needs is compliment. Now his head is gonna get
all swollen up :)
I will agree though that it (korg's objection to the multiple posting as
well as the subsequent tirades about the other part of his post) should
have been kept to private e-mail. Yes, we know it was re-posted multiple
time Korg, thanks for the update. Yes, we know some people didn't take
his post funny, thanks for the update. Overhead posts... kinda list this
one ;) Speaking of death, this timeline must cease!!!! :)

regarding the clinics -- are we talking about the joint clinics that they

from what i remember, john and mike were ending their joint clinics with
'universal mind' (i think...it's been 9 or 10 months since i saw one)...i
can't remember what they ended their individual clinics with (mike might've
ended his with 'erotomania', but don't quote me on that...)
as for the medley in the set list, here it is (for the nth time...):

also, to say that they aren't doing any material from 'awake' is
inaccurate...it can vary from show to show...
i have heard several people say that they played 'erotomania' at a recent

Not DT-related of course, but I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience of home recording? I'm working on a little project, and all the usual pitfalls have been fine - the acoustic guitars have gone down like a dream - but the elctric tone just sounds like a bee in a jar. There's only a couple of electric parts on there anyway, but I'd really appreciate any tips. Just for reference, it's a Marshall cab, and a Tascam 8-track ADAT.

I'd stick with a Korg X5 which are dirt cheap, or maybe a second hand Trinity which you can pick up for under $1k easy. I think that there's some budget Kurweil that's pretty good, but I've never seen it.

That depends on what you want to hear. Good ones to start out with are
Meddle, Wish You Were Here, The Final Cut, The Wall, Dark Side of the
Moon... pretty much any of there stuff with Roger Waters and David Gilmore
instead of Syd Barrett.
For a first disk, go for Meddle. In my opinion that is their best one.
Then go for the final cut. The only reason I listed Dark Side is because I
would probably get flamed for not listing it;-)

Dark Side of the moon is a great disc to start with. If not that, the Wall
is another great one. Wish you were here is a great album. Meddle is
another great disc, with track six being sync'ed with Jupiter and beyond
from the movie 2001. Floyd was originally supposed to do the soundtrack,
but Waters pissed off Kubrik, and it didn't happen. But you can sync the
two, it's a great 25 minute song. Well, I'm out. Piece.

Pink Floyd has gone through three eras. You just have to find one that
suits your tastes. :)
If you like psychadelic type stuff, your best bet is to start with their
releases from Dark Side of the Moon and work your way back. If you like art
rock you need to start with The Final Cut and work your way back to Dark
Side. If you like most 'pop' type rock you need to get from Momentary Lapse
of Reason to present.
The two PF albums I find myself returning to the most, though, are The Wall
and Momentary Lapse of Reason. MLoR is one of the best mostly because of
Terminal Frost, imo. :) Terminal Frost is one of the best rock
instrumentals ever written, I think.

Hear hear. Wish I HAD some Pink Floyd so I COULD listen to it. But I really love that group; there's something about it that just grabs me by the balls and doesn't let go until the music is done playing.
*SHAMELESS PLUG* If you like PF's stuff, there's a song that I wrote a few years back with a family friend... I didn't realize it at the time, but when the finished product came out, everybody who heard it said it was very Floyd-esque. I found this kinda neat because at the time, I'd never heard Pink Floyd before (this was before my rock/metal days). Now that I think about it, though, the guitarist was probably what made that sound come through, because he has, of course, listened to them a ton.
Anyway, if you'd like to hear a rather long instrumental that's not at great quality (I made the MP3 from a cassette that I had because it was the only copy I had - if I can get a hold of the DAT I'm going to make a much better copy), you can go to my webpage (http://cout.dhs.org/) and look under "My Music." It's called Untitled. I'd love to hear what people think of the song, but if you do listen to it, bear in mind that not only did I write in over two days, I was only in tenth grade and the reason there are playing mistakes in it is because Bruce (the guitarist) and I both improvised over MIDI tracks that I had laid down, so it's obviously not perfect.

Yup, count me in, I can't take the MusicMan guitars seriously. Especially the EVH/Wolfgang/whatever model. Beautiful wood, and they must be great, based on the players who endorse them, but man, that shape, and the dinky headstock... Shows what I care about!!! :-)

For the guy putting on the Radio show, some Rush is a necessity for it. 2112 or Cygnus X-1 book would be perfect for the whole prog thing. I would also play some Mulmuzzler and maybe something from the Explorers Club cd. Maybe you should just play the whole new DT cd on it. I am 15 and I can't wait to see DT in Dallas at the Bronce Bowl. For you who don't know, the Canyon Club is part of the Bronco Bowl that seats 500, and stands 1,000. Which kind of sucks, since Dream Theater could sell out a bigger place. But I hear that the sound in there is the best. LONG LIVE RUSH!!!!
