Here it is, what r u talking about! I think most of Jammers get into
classical stuffs very much, because very well-educated person have
love, or at least respect to classical music!
As for me, I have music education - classical piano, and as soon you
started to talk about Prokofiev, I'm very happy to see that people all
over the world like and respect our wonderful composer. I said "our"
because I'm Russian. When I was a
child, I had to play some of his pieces, ant yet I didn't like them,
cause it was a bit strange in my opinion then. But several years gone
and I understood that I was wrong... Now i sometimes like to play some
of his pieces for fun, I really enjoy it.
About that boy and "true" prog-rock fans... You know, I once raised
this problem in SFAM forum (when it was), we tried to describe "real
true DT fan" and we couldn't! Because there are so many people and we
are so different! Young teenagers and old fans with families,
musicians and sportsmen, students and I don't know who else! And it's
not important if you have great experience in music and know greatest
band, or if you like britpop or dance music! Now I say - I DON'T KNOW
WHAT DT FAN IS. Person just have to be ready for DT. I don't know how.
That's all...
PS I'm keen on Bach and Mozart also.
PPS Does anybody like Debussy? "Clair De Lune" is amazing! Does
anybody play it?
PPPS Well, Grieg is great too!!!

Hey Jammers,
Well, I read that review posted on the net, and I am not shocked at all.
Niether am I mad. The people who reviewed the album with the exception of
Andrew, probably are not musicians. I can understand someone that doesn't
play music not liking Dream Theater. Although, some of these ska and punk
musicians (I use the term loosely) can't appreciate it cause of their 3
minute long attention spans and the fact that they only can comprehend three
chords making up a song. But, that's ok. Everyone is entitled to their own
(crap) opinion. I am glad that Dream Theater is not a popular band in the
mainstream. I like the fact that I am listening to something that someone
else might never have heard of. I'm glad that people can't understand it or
that it's out of their range of comprehension. That sets me apart from the
morons who listen to Britney Spears or the Backstreet Boys. I welcome that.
I'm sure some of my fellow Jammers will agree.

Okay, people, you have to remember that I am NOT the one who bashed this
album. To this people who are writing me and telling me that I should be
ashamed of myself, it's not me!

They're only college students, and it's a college newspaper. They write
based on what their base opinions and first impressions are, and that is
what they were. I don't blame these people for not liking the album; they
have the right to not like it. They try to write with wit, and that's
exactly what they did. Personally, I thought some of the lines were
outrageous and funny, such as the one about Jordan being an eight-year old
with the new Yamaha keyboard that has all the neat sounds (yee-haw). For
some reason that always reminds me of Chris Farley in Tommy Boy when he
talks about his pet, and how he gets all excited like Jo-Jo the idiot
circus boy. Heh.
I posted it because I thought you'd get a KICK out of it, not feel
insulted by it. Just remember people, these people listen to a variety of
music, and one of them actually gave it a pretty good review (that is,
Sharon, not I). If you can stop being so ignorant and look past all those
comments, there are some pretty decent points about the album in their
reviews.
But remember, I AM NOT THE ONE WHO PANNED IT! So stop sending me email
(and two people signed my guestbook; you should too!) saying that I should
know better, that I have no musical tastes, etc. I loved the album and I
said so in the review.

Right now I have an ESP LTD M-107. I am fairly happy with it, but it is
a cheap guitar. I noticed yesterday that the groove for the D string in the
nut was too deep, and my string just started rattling. I am going to take
it back to the shop I got it at and make them fix it. It has a lifetime
warranty. The neck is beefy, but not unmanageable, IMO it is very
comfortable to play on the upper strings, maybe I have weird hands or
something...
For an amp I have a Peavey Rockmaster preamp going into an ART SGE
effects rack. On the bottom I have a Mosvalve Mv-962. I have that all
going into a Crate-Celestion speaker from a torn apart GX-80v, and or this
giant 1x15" rear firing speaker cabinet. I know I need better speakers,
that goes without saying, but I am wishing for better delay effects. Mine
are pretty good, but I can't do very much with it.
O and by the way...The best seven string I have ever played is a
Jackson, IMHO.

I couldn't agree more. I saw them on the FII tour, and James's voice sounded much better this time around. The only beef I have with the whole show was the sort-of graphics they were showing on those tv's, plus some of MP's cymbals weren't mic'd too great. other than that, the who was phenomenal. I really dug them playing 45 seconds of vanl halen's hot for teacher. that was nifty! give it up to the Dregs though. That song that sounded like some blue grass was insane! i'm going to purchase their material as soon as i get a chance too. to everyone going to the baltimore show, see you there. peace.

Strange, I think that it's J=F6rg's best work in Stratovarius so far..
>Yep Infinite is the best Strato have done for a while,
When I bought the album Infinite about a week ago, I wasn't totally convinced about the album, at least not for that matter that this is their best album but now I've been listening to it a lot and can say that it is definitely the best Stratovarius album! It has a lot of new influences and song concepts that are totally new for Stratovarius.
Jens seems to >have more freedom in the band and Tolkki even used one of Jens >songs on the album :)
Yes, It's a very good song and Timo Tolkki says in one new interview that it was the easiest of the four songs that Jens wrote for this album and I would be very interested to hear those three other songs (that didn't make it to the album, unfortunately) too!
I think that the song "Infinity" has the same feel as "The Abyss Of Your Eyes" on Visions album though they are totally two different songs.
What do you Stratovarius fan Jammers think about the song "Millennium"? =3D)

I don't like it much. Worst song on Infinite IMO.

I did get a kick out of most of it, but some of the comments were like "huh?!" I dunno maybe I'm more adapted because my friends and I are always taking friendly jabs at eachother over our musical tastes. So I'm used to just laughing when someone hates my music, and they do the same when I hate theirs. *shrug* Live and Let Live folks. I'm sure they'd be pretty upset over some of the reviews we would give their fav bands too.

Actually, I do agree with that argument most of the time (god knows I didn't used to, I've just lightened up), but the Backstreet Boys are where I draw the line. Why? It has nothing to do with their music. It has to do that they were a corporately engineered band, put together with a certain look and sound in mind, by a corporation. I know most of you know this, but there's gotta be someone out there who thinks I'm being cynical: well..
At the theater department at my school we sometimes get things like this:
"Warner Brothers (Or whoever) Music is looking for the next Backstreet Boys! Must be a male between the ages of 17-21 of this certain height, this certain skin type, and possessing of good looks and sex appeal. Singing Lessons will be provided by Warner Brothers Music."
When you get to this point, it's not music anymore. It's some corporate machine that pushes buttons and manipulates audiences into making the record companies lots of money. I think it's sick, and that is why I will never except the Backstreet Boys as music. Even bands that sell out have to START SOMEWHERE. I can respect that... but this... I dunno.

When you think about it, that's actually a compliment of James' abilities, it's just that the reviewer is too dense to realize that. > Palpatine
See? Told ya he'd declared himself Emperor! :o) = *Scenes From Trent __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Talk to your friends online with Yahoo! Messenger. http://im.yahoo.com

someone wrote this in response to Andrew's SFAM review: oh well, its their loss if they don't like it. too bad there are people that read those reviews that think dream theater sucks now.
If they base their opinions on a review alone, then maybe it's best that they stay away from OFB. I don't wanna put up with idiots like that at DT shows......

Hm, interesting. Actually, it's revolting. I find your "sell out" remark to be amusing. Kinda brings Sugar Ray to mind... but anyway, I refuse to accept BSB as music as well b/c the music isn't even second on the list, it's like 6 or 7. That's pathetic. DT and bands like them ("prog" or not) put their music first. That's admirable. = *Images & Trent __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? hehehe. I've never heard a singer that sounded like that from the 19th Century. Maybe that's because there wasn't any way to record them back then. So how would this guy know?
You know, considering that the next century doesn't start until next year, that guy just demonstrated his incompentance, no? :) I've often wondered, too, how much it would cost to purchase the Trademark for 21st Century Fox, just to piss of the company and make them pay me big bucks for it. hehehe. Anyway, nuff rambling. -- KorgX3 has too much free time. She walks toward him. Damn dreams.

That's what I think. Usually I read a review merely to find out what others think of an album. I don't EVER base what I think of an article on reviews - I get a sample or two of the album (yay MP3s) and judge for myself whether or not I want to buy the album.

Hey, thanks a lot. I wish I could get a hold of the original DAT, though, because that copy that I had on cassette is a really dirty copy.
I'm not planning on renaming it anymore. I kinda like the idea that it's Untitled, considering it's my first work and all...

I agree about Prokofiev. ELP covered some Prokofiev pieces, one of which titled "The Enemy God ......."was featured on the Works album. Very heavy and aggresive song!
