Right here. I love Bluegrass music. I also dig bands like
Aquarium Rescue Unit. I think Bluegrass has to be one of
the most fun styles of music to listen to. I am always in
a good mood after I listen to some.

    Then Sarah replied...

ummmmmmmmmmmmm...NO. Lets examine the possible options. You could've simply MOVED!!!!!!!!!!! So you want
to take away the opportunities for us pre-21 fans because you CHOSE to stand next to some dumb kids?
Sorry...I have no sympathy for you on this one. Choose a better location to watch the show next time.
    Sarah

    And I had to say...

I agree completely with Sarah. When I was 20 (one week from 21), I missed the opportunity to see one of my
favorite heavy bands (Vicious Rumors), because it was OVER 21! I'm MUCH older now, and I don't wish anyone
to miss one of their favorite band for an age thing.

Just move! Someone next to me at the Philly show stunk REALLY bad... I moved! See? I still enjoyed the
    show.

    >IF YOU ARE READING, HELP US!!!

You're yelling at the wrong direction...

To see more than just the movie, buy a Mac.

Ok, that was the short explanation, here's the long one:

Those files and directories are there for compatibility reasons. I
wanted to make sure that most of you could at least see the movie, so
I tried to keep the data session as Blue Book (a multimedia CD
standard) compilant as possible, which includes putting those extra
    things in the data part.

In therory you could use a special CD Extra player that would be able
to show the extra stuff, in fact I never saw something like that,
except the AppleCD Player for the Mac. Ironically this player uses
another, totally different file format for this stuff instead of
using the files in CD PLUS, rendering this directory basically
useless. But maybe there's indeed some weird CD-ROM driver out there
that looks for those special directories to decide if the data
session is valid or not. If just one of you happens to use this
driver, it was worth the effort.

Anyway, sorry for the confusion. Just ignore those directories. The
actual content (cover picture and lyrics) is in the booklet anyway.

I see you're one of those music-nazis who like to exclude young people from hearing their favorite bands because they aren't over 21. "You can't buy beer? NO MUSIC FOR YOU!!"

There seem to be a lot of people who somehow manage to listen to fuckin' LaBrie, Petrucci, Portnoy, Myung, and Rudess at a fantastic mix, and while they do that they spend most of their time being pissed off! Congratulations!!!!! :) I dunno, I personally don't really it when people act in this way at concerts. I mean, it is a rock concert, if not metal! I think that you have to count in some pushing there, sweat, other people singing, sometimes taller people. I guess if it is a stand up show, you either have those beers before the show, and go to the front, and have fun that beats any other, and spread love and positive energy and go feel like you are in heaven. Rock, man, instead of hating everyone else who showed up. Move around till you find the sweet spot, and feel free to push a little! Or you can go in the back, close to the mixing board, for example, and watch from "safe distance". It is easier to move around, and the audience in the back is usually less active.

It is a rock concert, people have Multiple Musical Orgasms!!! You cannot expect people to behave as if you were in a theatre (hehe).

Anyway, this wasn't meant as a personal flame or anything, it is a reply to the many people who have been complaining about the side products of something that makes our lives different, that thing is called ROCK, my friends.

I feel old sometimes *sigh*. My back and neck and shoulders (ok. my body) still are sore from being pushed around at last night's show. Now I'm reading the last jam where all the MINORS (no, not in the musical sense) were speaking out. It's not really how old you ARE but how old you ACT that matters. I have some younger cousins who are very cool so I have nothing against people younger than me. Sure, I'd selfishly love if the crowd I was surrounded (great song) by was comprised of my age group (20 - 30 somethings), but that's another story for another day (another incredible song btw). As for picking locations on where to view a concert. Easier said than done. ]From early on, I learned that there are some really tall DT fans and sure they have every right to stand as close as they want blah blah blah. At a show as crowded as last night's it is not practical to move an inch, yet alone move away from a group of people. After one swaying of the crowd I had to laugh because I was spun around facing the back of the sold out crowd. This is why seated venues work. My thoughts on the Star People... The music was interesting. Better than some opening acts. I didn't like the fact that they treated me like a child (am I allowed to say that on this list?? ;) beating me over the head with the premise of we're from planet X (no, not THAT planet X, sorry I wasn't paying enough attn to remember the planet they hail from) and the story line. Maybe bands like DT spoil me with their lyrics. Shrug. Will I buy their cds or see them again- probably not. After a while of their playing I was eager for the show to move on and happy when it did. That's all for now. On a side note - maybe tomorrow I'll get the fan club cd. Would really be unfortunate 'If I die tomorrow' but.... 'I'll be alright' Or something. Take care... -Rachel

Has anyone seen the new DT hand signal? What's that all about? Mike kept flashing it during the show and there was also a graphic for it on the TV screens. since when has this been a dream theater thing?

That's like saying tall music is the same - only people who know nothing about music would say it. I'm a dancer and I now know that you aren't too familiar with dance AT ALL. There are so many different types of dance and people who devote their entire life to this artform much like musicians do to music. I'm a dancer and a generalization like that couldn't be ignored. The saddest part about society is the simplicity we tend to cling to and the way the record companies feed to that - but don't blame the more simplistic tastes of others solely on dance - it goes so much deeper than that.

I must say the Roseland show kicked serious ass. I met a fellow (or former? dont know if he's still on the list) jammer, Brian Larkin on line. Also ran into someone who was into Helloween and Stratovarius...pretty cool :-)

The Star People were...interesting, to say the least; their sound reminded me a little of King Crimson. The violinist was very impressive (in more ways than one - those hip movements!) and attracted a small following in front of her. The guy standing in front of me actually took his shirt off and threw it at the stage...the roadies did eventually give it back though.

The Dregs were astounding. I have one of their albums (Night of the Living Dregs) and was pleased to hear that they played The Bash off of it. Morse and the violinist (cant remember his name) had some pretty sick dual leads. I'll definately be getting more of their CDs.

Finally, DT went on. They were flawless (that I could hear anyway). Petrucci played his Musicman on every song with the exception of Home, TDoE and OLT (6 string Ibanez in dropped D and 7 string, respectively). IMO, he stole the show. The guy was just blazing straight through and took a PHENOMIAL solo at the begining of Through her Eyes.

It was a really great night with only minor flaws. For one thing, the guy who felt he had to light up his hash pipe right next to me during the dregs set (I have nothing against anyone doing it, the smell just makes me sick), and some idiots crowd surfing. The mosh pit which opened up right next to me during PMU didnt really bother me, but when Im trying to concentrate on the show, I really dont want to worry about some guy kicking me in the head (which nearly happened).

    Another thing...

    > * Please, please, p l e a s e, PLEASE, do *not* play any more all- ages > shows.

Well D-man, Im 16 (nearly 17), and so were my friends that went to the show. We acted pretty respectible, got into the music just as much as the people around us. Ive been a huge DT fan for 3 years and Petrucci is my personal guitar god...Im not supposed to have the chance to see them because of some stupid age limit based on the fact that the venue serves alcohol? Like any other age group, theres mature, intelligent people and stupid, ignorant people. I personally think I acted much more well mannered than the retards that started crowd surfing, or the one idiot who tried to start a mosh during BTL when it was quite obvious no one else around him wanted to. You were obviously a teenager once, how would you feel if you werent allowed to see your favorite band just because of that reason?

BTW - thought I should mention: If anyone saw me, Im about 5' 7", shoulder length brown hair, wearing glasses and a leather jacket. I was in the 3rd "row" and to the right, about in front of the TV set near where JP was.

I agree that there are a lot of bands out there that play what they want too, but they just don't get too popular. But there is one band that is real popular, and they do whatever they want too. Guess, Rush. IMO, I think that they are the ultimate prog band. I can't say the DT is OFB. Cause rush just happens to be my favorite.

Man, I'm sorry, but you are being stupid here... These kids (look at me, calling people 4 years younger than me kids... hehehe) spent the same amount of money to get their tickets as you... They have the same right to see a band they like as you... No way you can ask somebody to stop playing all-ages concerts just because it bothered you... I've been to lots of concerts where people who were beside me screamed when they shouldn't, jumped and moved when they shouldn't... It bothered me, but hey, it's their right to do that... I'm sorry if you didn't enjoy the show as much as you wanted because of these people, but you can't ask for that just because it bothered you...

Could it be that Jordan's solo is there as a sort of way to introduce him to the fans? That'd be my guess...

Moving on to another subject, I've seen that a few people here are also Napster users... Gotta ask you something: is it usually very slow or am I the only one having this problem? I mean, there are some GREAT songs there, but it's taking 3 times as long as it would in a regular mp3 server...
