Yeah, that's a sample of Tori Amos that Kevin Moore
had on his keyboard. Mike got a hold of it and made a
copy. It's Mike's prized collectable in his 'Wall of

Its a shame that DT dosen't OR won't come to Indy over a situation that
happened years ago. Mike did a clinic here
on July 28th,1998 and was well received. The auditorium was packed to the
rafters. There are alot of people who are kids who
would like to see DT but can't because the show's too far away and on a
school night. So the parents can not drive to Chicago
or Ohio or Kentucky for these reasons and others. I know a few parents
would let their children go to a concert providing they
got up in time for school and driving from over 120 miles from a show to
    home just doesn't make it.
I've met and talked to kids who like DT but CAN'T get to the shows because
of: 1) they're too young to drive, 2) can't stay
up that late, 3) even if its a weekend parents don't want to drive 2 or 3
hours a to concert, have a great time, and THEN worry
about driving everybody home safely. Come on, I believe DT is able to sell
8 to 10 thousand tickets here in Indy with a strong opening act , or DT as
an opening act, either way why let a stupid act of the management's
    part(the club manager) taint the
relationship between DT and its fans. I've heard claims that the fans of
Dream Theater are the MOST loyal of ALL fan clubs. If it
wasn't true do you think DT would be where they are today????

    Now I'm responding back...

Well how about the Tower Theater? The place IS made for music. Also there ARE seats for people to sit. It holds about the same amount of people as the Electric Factory.

The Electric Factory has HORRIBLE acoustics for ANY kind of music (including DT). Also the place NEEDS to be vented better... It's a sweat box no matter what time of year it is. Smoke filled with NO exhaust (AT
    ALL).

The Tower Theater is quite a bit farther from me, but I'm willing to drive farther to go to a better place.

My wife suggests the Academy Of Music... THAT WOULD BE GREAT!!!

Newsflash: Why (most) metal bands don't play Indy -
NO RADIO SUPPORT. The one (and only) time DT played
here, X103 was a metal station and 'Pull Me Under' was
getting heavy rotation. The last time I heard a DT
song played on local radio was 'Home' on Carmel's HIGH
    SCHOOL STATION.

Yes, and I'm sure the non-air-conditioned fiasco back
then (I personally came home from the show five pounds
lighter than when I went) still rankles. Just ask
    Portnoy.

Oh, BTW, speaking of the state of radio in Indy, some
decent alternative can now be found at 107.1 for
    anyone interested.

While I have to agree that I would love to see DT and Yes together add in
ELP and King Crimson too.!! That bill would kick ass. Funnily enought I do
not think of DT as metal, I think of them as prog with more contempoary
    sounds!

As a "Yes purist" I have given into the fact that they ALWAYS play this tune
live it's as sure as them finishing with roundabout+starship troopers. But
I have to admit 90125 is not my fav Yes album.

Jeez guys - stop your whining. Why don't you just drive to one of their shows in Chicago or Ohio like the rest of us in Indiana? It isn't that far - You should be used to having to drive 3 hours to get anywhere anyway. I lived in San Diego and would routinely drive up to LA to see DT. One time I even flew to Northern CA to see them. So a three hour drive to Chicago, or *gasp* a two hour drive to Cinncinati is NOT something to complain about.

Hell at least they are playing in our country. :)

I personally like Perfect Symmetry "better," but as a die-hard fan I would say that both are highly recommended. Parallels is known for it's more "commercial" (that is a bad word now, but you guys get what I mean... even the guys in Fates Warning call it that), feel... very good disc... Perfect Symmetry is just incredible progressive metal from beginning to end...

hehehee. Too true. I see all you guys getting shows back east and can't understand the wimpiness at driving to another state to see a show. I mean, most of your states are only 100 miles wide. If DT hadn't just popped a show in Utah, the nearest show would have been around a 12 hour trip to the closest one. Damn people and your small states... heheheh.

"I was asked to plead ignorance, but I need some kind of edge to hang on to my Dream Theater past" boasted the fading rock star, Charlie Dominici. Even though we tried to ignore him, the man just had to tell his story.

"Quite a few fans have noticed a dramatic improvement in John Petrucci's style over the past 4 to 5 years. His expression and dynamics have really started to give him 'his own style'. The problem is Petrucci cites Derek Sherinian as his biggest influence. John is a master at taking the styles of others and meshing them into his own bag of tricks. It got to the point that Sherinian's style was becoming more and more evident in John's playing, so John kindly sent Derek an email "please get another style because I can't come up with my own. Thank you."

When confronted with the accusation, Petrucci simply responded "Its what I do. All the Steves and Als were taken. We figured if we kept Derek down in the mix that the fans would never even figure out his style. But then Derek had to go work on that solo album. We knew time was short. It was only a matter of time before our fears were addressed."

To get the other side of the story, we asked Derek his view of the fallout. "Dominici? You say he was in Dream Theater? I love Dream Theatre!"

But Dominici's tale doesn't end there. "Want to know how they chose Jordan Rudess? Well it was during the first LTE sessions when they invited me up to check out the madness. I asked Jordan 'Aren't you afraid Petrucci will steal your style?', to which Jordan replied 'What style?'. Well Portnoy knew right then and there that Jordan was a perfect fit for Dream Theater."

Perhaps the most incriminating evidence comes from the other two Dream Theater members. James LaBrie let out this rectum puckering confession "Yeahhhhhh eeee ahh yaaaa yeahhhhhhhhh ahhhhhh". While approaching Myung for comment, he remained unusually tight lipped. The guilt has made him mute.

But if you refuse to believe Charlie's story, he has this retort "I have it all on video. It can be yours for $49.95."
