While it is true that not all DT fans like Yes, it is probably likely
that those fans like Megadeth. Being of the "progmetal" tag, DT has
the prog fans, the metal fans and those that are both. I have always
been a Yes fan. I'm not ancient either as Matt Teiper can attest. I
do love metal, but if forced to choose...prog is first. I have to
say that a Yes/DT bill is the ultimate concert. And unlike the "Yes
purists" out there, I hope they play "Owner Of A Lonely Heart"
because it's YES (cut the Cinema baloney). Yes is Yes. Just because
it was a popular song doesn't mean it's not a good song. Trevor
wrote good songs. But they have moved on, "The Ladder" is amazing!
    Enough rambling...

Subject: DT Tour, and Yes Fans

Second things first, why anyone would make generalizations about what
    fans
of one band "must" like is beyond me. =A0Most of the members of this
    list
don't like jazz. =A0Some of us do. =A0Nothing in life is a constant. =A0=
    I
    know
about 3 DT fans in my area who like Yes. =A0I know probably 2 dozen
    more who
don't (though some of them like "Owner of a Lonely Heart"... but
    that's
Cinema, not Yes). =A0There's no harm in these kinds of simple
generalizations, but there's also no validity, and no point. =A0

As for DT tour dates, there are some people who will get screwed,
    mainly
because you live in areas that always have been screwed, and always
    will
be screwed for concerts. =A0I've never seen some of my favorite bands,
because they only tour Europe, and I live in the greatest city in the
    US.
But consider this, US people, there's a long history of dedication to
    the
band, present in a lively form on this list. =A0It used to be a ritual =

    to go
to the east coast from wherever you live... California, Atlanta,
    Chicago,
etc to see the holiday shows. =A0Maddy and I picked up on it, and were
inspired to drive out there with Bogie last time, and it was worth
    every
penny, just experiencing that. =A0I think we share everyone else's
disappointment that they didn't have a holiday tour this year. =A0It's
the experiences we take away from this stuff that matters anyway.
    =A0you can
experience sitting on your ass in front of your computer bitching, or
    you
can take the road trip. =A0Chances are there's a show in your range.

And of course this screws the younger fans, but that's a tradition
    too...
it makes turning 21 even more valuable. =A0As a result of my age I was =

    too
young to see most of my childhood idols live. =A0Now one of them is
wheelchair bound and can no longer play, and one of them died in a car
    wreck... it's life. =A0

I'll see some of you at the Chicago, Milwaukee and LA shows!

Someone asked about a JP`s double neck guitar...

I remeber that down here in Brazil, in 97, he used a double neck guitar to
play "Voices" and the eletric version of "The silent man".

If the guitar he used here is the same of his collection, I can`t answer

Well, the only time I've seen him use the blueburst was on the Ibanez "7th
Heaven" video (which I did not spend one red cent on, thankyouverymuch - it
was "won" at a JP clinic) ... there's also one picture online of JP playing
said guitar in a bad-ass shiny green shirt (check Van Glabeke's site, don't

Oh, definitely, Ravi's east/west experiments are no match for his
traditional indian stuff. I wouldn't say it is a no-no, but I'll have to
give it a few more listens before I decide if it's on the same level with
"Inside the Kremlin" or "Passages". Some parts are pretty boring, but I
find others to be VERY interesting, especially the cadenzas. They're playing
by the rules of indian music, but they're not playing anything like an

both. The 'voice' is an emulator. The script is a vision given
to a nun, I believe (probably since canonized), from Saint
Mary as proof of how God would destroy the world, apparantly
witnessed by a number of people. Searching for sections of
of the lyrics should turn up the source out on the web, as
it was there several months ago.

Hey all! Just wanted to drop a quick line letting everyone know I'll be at
the shows in Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Chicago. I've gotten almost
everything for this trip all figured out. (Between air travel, ground
travel, and figuring out where everything is, I don't know HOW DT's
management does it!) Now all I need to do is make the reservations.

Which brings me to why I'm writing. Can anyone in Chicago give me some tips
on where to stay? I won't have a car (thanks be to Greyhound and Amtrak),
so it'll have to be within walking distance of the venue or within a short
cab ride. And do cabs even run that late (2-3 am)? I'd appreciate any
    help.

And if anyone's gonna be at any of the shows, feel free to drop me a line.
Maybe we can get together before/after the show if someone else sets it up.

    See you guys there! :)

Hmm.. wonder why this didn't get through the first time. Did I inadvertantly turn MIME on? *shrug*

Hey all! Just wanted to drop a quick line letting everyone know I'll be at the shows in Minneapolis, Milwaukee, and Chicago. I've gotten almost everything for this trip all figured out. (Between air travel, ground travel, and figuring out where everything is, I don't know HOW DT's management does it!) Now all I need to do is make the reservations.

Which brings me to why I'm writing. Can anyone in Chicago give me some tips on where to stay? I won't have a car (thanks be to Greyhound and Amtrak), so it'll have to be within walking distance of the venue or within a short cab ride. And do cabs even run that late (2-3 am)? I'd appreciate any help.

And if anyone's gonna be at any of the shows, feel free to drop me a line. Maybe we can get together before/after the show if someone else sets it up.

    See you guys there! :)

I'm a little late getting into this conversation...... BUT I do agree with you guys who prefer Entropia to One Hour By the Concrete Lake. I mean, BOTH are great albums, but Entropia is just so wonderfully chaotic!

I'm posting from work, so I hope this gets through without mime or any other crap...

Thank you, Partha for bringing that to people's attention... You have a show < half an hour drive from your house? Great! Get down there. You have to travel to a nearby state/city? Pfft... no barrier there... Across the other side of the country? Bah. To some other European country? Well... not everyone will travel that far, but at least you're staying on the same continent... The closest DT ever get to Australia is Japan. And Japan is often used as a stopover for flights between the US and Australia, so it's not exactly next door :P

I saw that Graham (I think it was graham... ytsejam@ozemail.com.au) has been oversees to see DT. Well... I envy you. But unfortunately, I don't have the time away from work or the thousand dollars or whatever it costs to get to Japan to see DT. So, Mike. Mikey old pal. The bestest drummer in the world. The king of them all. My buddy... How about a present to the Australian faithful fanatics? Some kind of live official release from this tour: video, CD, vinyl, whatever.... **please**? Of course, if you want to take a holiday in a land that is currently in lovely summer... (be quiet any Aussies, don't tell him that it's not hot yet :P)

Ok, after that plead/beg... A lot of people seem to Rave about Yes... I've never heard any of their music... I've seen the bit with Steve Howe on 5YIALT... Can anyone point me towards a site with a few sample songs so that I can try before I buy? What about Rush? Marillion?

    Regards,

    Niall

    YEAH! What he said!

    Here's my humble opinion:

After the fiasco of the last time they played here years ago, in an overbooked, under air-conditioned rat-hole where people actually passed out due to the heat, and the show shut down early, I think they have a bad taste about Indy. I mean, look at the tour dates:

Sunday February 13 =A0 Chicago, IL =A0 The Riviera Tuesday February 15 Cincinnati, OH Bogarts (added on 1/13) Thursday February 17 Cleveland, OH The Agora (added on 1/12)

]From Chicago to Cincy they darn hear HAVE to go through Indy! Come on guys! Help us poor Indy jammers out! Come to Indy!

Hey Mark, think we have time to start a petition! :-)

    Hey Jammerz -

Hopefully someone out there can help me out, or at least point me in the right direction of someone who can. Some time ago, In Flames issued a hard-to-find 4 track CD EP, with a couple of the songs not appearing on any other release. The problem is, it was only issued as a shaped CD. I have it, but since it's a shaped CD, it will only play on my wife's CD boom box because it has one of those spindles that you put the CD on to play it. It won't play on any of my other CD players or on the CD-ROM in my computer because of the weird shape. Does anyone out there have the capability to transfer the tracks over to a normally shaped CD for me so I can play it anywhere? Or at least does anyone know where I can have this sort of thing done? I'd REALLY appreciate any help you can give. Private e-mails please.

    Thanks in advance! Matt T.

I'm gonna be staying at a place downtown called the Westin. It's absolutely no where near the Riveria, but it's about three blocks away from the Red route of the L and the Riveria is also about three blocks away from the Red Route. The Westin is right across from the House of Blues. I stayed there when I went to see TSO last month. I can't remember what I paid but you can call them at 1-800-westin-1 for prices.

    Hope to see you there.
