certain areas of the country. It seems theya are starting in the west -up
the coast -across the top and down the coast. Nothing in the center at
all. I live in New Orleans and the closest show would be a 36 hour drive
as of right now or 400 dollar plane ticket. >>

haha!! It takes 36 hours from New Orleans to Washington DC? Maybe 36 hours
via Eyore, the donkey from Winnie the Pooh! The show in DC will be large...I
would suggest heading to that one...AND, if you're a true DT fan, you might
    want to make the drive...;)

Of course when I said that I did not believe that there was a huge crossover
of Yes fans who are into DT I was referring to English fans. I think that
say American fan would be more receptive in general to DT's heavier (than
    Yes) styling.

As for the reverse I do not know a DT fan who does not like Yes. I doubt
    one exists!

the last (only) time i saw DT at EF in PA for the semi-acoustic show,

those of you panicking over the lack of nearby DT shows would do well to relax a bit and wait for a complete list of shows to be finalized before going nuts....

I mean, I'm near Detroit, and if you take a look at the list, there ain't no Detroit show listed....YET! but there's this nice 3 day hole between Chicago on the 13th and Cleveland on the 17th....and I'm sure it doesn't take 4 days to get from Boston on Feb 27 to Florida on March 4th (actually 5, since this IS a leap year :)

Of course, some of you will get shafted out of a conveniently close concert, that's just the way things be, y'know....but if it happens, and you have to drive two or three hours to catch DT, just remember those poor Aussies and you *should* feel a lot better.....

lol. No. It's someone rattling off numbers in German...

Eins (long i, ins) = one. Zwei (svy) = two Drei (dry) = three Fier (feer) = four Fumf (foompf) = five Sechts (sex) = six (sex is close enough for you non-krauts) :) Sieben (seeben) = seven Acht (akt) = eight Neun (noin) = nine zehn (tsayn) = ten

Then comes elf, zwolf, dreizehn, fierzehn, fumfzehn, etc...

To pronounce the german 'consanant' ch, you have to make a sound like you're hacking up a hairball. It's like a really deep 'h' sound with chunk.

I've been playing guitar for years, and after numerous (and agonizing) repairs I can tell you that for the most part, it's wiser to keep away from the super glue, especially if you're not exactly sure what you're doing. I believe you can take it to any music store or guitar shop and they can fix it for you without having to get a new neck.

Yeah, I found out about it recently also, but I was not so thrilled about it after I heard it! I mean, not ALL experiments of putting together various styles of music with classical works fine. Deep Purple did it, big time, with the Concerto, but this time is a no-no.

I prefer more pure form of Ravi/sitar. :)

Geez, tha man is still in prog waters. How he didn't went nuts after doing it for so long? ;)

no way. :) Show me I'm wrong.

How about certain areas of a CONTINENT??? :(

Geez, I hope these are not the ONLY European dates. Huh, since when Europe is just 3 countries? Is there a reason DT not coming in city they came last tour? Damn it, don't wanna show off, but if I'm ready to cross 2 countries to see DT live, that doesn't mean I have no problem with crossing 6 of them for Chist sake! ;(((

Apologies for not being able to cut and paste on this ancient terminal I'm using. The bass is inaudible on a lot of AJFA for the reasons outlined in my last posting. As far as the bass being audible in a live setting there are many things to consider. Firstly I should mention that I did not say thet the Bass/ Guitar doublings on AJFA were 100%; of course the bass does deviate from time to time, and that is when it is audible. No band will go into a live setting using the exact same setup for sound; that would be ludicrous, as the band is striving for vastly different objectives in the arena as opposed to the studio. Because of this equipment used often varies from the studio to live setting. I do know that for the majority of Justice Jason used a Steinberger bass; on the Justice tour I remember him using WAL basses alot of the time. This already makes a big difference, as the Steinberger basses have always been known for that punchy, midrangy twang. The WAL basses were punchy as well, but they had a fatter, rounder sound as well which may have contributed to the bass' audibility live. Of course the rig has to be considered as well, which in this case I don't know enough about to comment on here. If you refer to the Bass being heard on subsequent tours, I suggest you look for the December 91' issue of Guitar for the Practising Musician, as it addresses in graet detail the *big* change in Metallica's live and studio sound, as well as Jason's approach to playing bass, which has a lot to do with why he can be heard and felt a lot better now.

    Hi All,

I just check Under a Cyber Moon and February 26 has been added. Dream Theater at the Roseland on 52 between Broadway and Eighth Ave.

So I'm still kinda new to the city and my girlfriend, I am positive, is not into going to the Roseland. Anyone going (there must be some of you) and mind if I tag along? :) I am dying to see them perform SFaM.

I live at Riverside and 72nd so it's not far from me.

Actually, in strict terms, it's not a back-throat consonant at all (thank you diction for singers class). I mean, different dialects do it different ways, but in Hoch Deutsche, ch is a fronted consonant, and the best way I've ever been able to compare it to the English language is the exact same sound you make at the beginning of the word "human."
