Can anyone give me the inside scoop on this?!?!? This could be the best
news ever! Mustaine, being the captain, can go down with that ship... but
Friedman has ALWAYS outclassed them! I wonder if the will get him playing
    HALFWAY decent guitar again!

    I'm so very very pleased!

"Unfortunately there is not a greatcross over in the fan bases. Most DT
fans like Yes I am not shure if it works the other way around."

I'm not so sure about that. I've only met a handful of other prog fans,
one being my age (20) and loves both DT and Yes, the other two being in
the 40-50 range. Although one wasn't familiar with DT, he really enjoyed
them, and the other was already a proud owner of all their studio work.
Maybe the heavier stuff won't go over too well (Puppies on Acid, Lie,
Beyond this Life), but I think that Met1, Scarred, TDoE (a reach),
Finally Free, as well as several others would go over very well.

I hope that this concert goes on...I'd spend all sorts of money to see
my two favorite acts perform at the same concert.

Hey... First time poster on this list...

Anyway, I was just wondering if any of you guys are going to the Chicago show at the Riv on Feb. 13th. I'll be there, it'll be my first DT show, and I'm really psyched about it... especially considering how much I love the new album. Well, if you're out there, drop me a line...

    Hi Chris,

I'm going to the show on the 13th as well. This is will actually be the first real concert that i've been to. has anyone seen dream theater and/or the dixie dregs live before ? what were your opinions ? --

    Okey dokey...

Before you send your post, PLEASE uncheck the "Send as HTML" option... I have no idea what possessed ZZN.COM to turn this on by default, and there doesn't seem to be a way to turn it off in the "Options" section.

If you post to the Ytsejam (or any other mailinglist) with a dreamtheater.ZZN.COM address, just press "Compose" and:

    1. UNCHECK "Send as HTML"

    OR

    2. Click on "Simple Editor"

Should be easy enough, right? :-)

Being a lifelong YES fan, I disagree. If DT plays their more proggy stuff like M1 and M2 and LtL, they'll be fine.

Along with some of the more "poppy" stuff like LSOAD, electric Silent Man, Surrounded (PLEASE!!!) mixed some other prog moments like ToT, LiTS, and some selections from M2. They'll be fine. That's the great thing about DT. Their material is so diverse that they could open for almost anyone.

Ok. Here's a set list that might work when opening for Yes. Rearrange the songs in whatever order you like...assuming they get an hour.

Metropolis Part 1 Overture 1928 Take The Time (extended slightly) Voices Hollow Years Home (full) Pull Me Under

Very hard to limit them to an hour of music. It could end up only 45 minutes. This is of course if it even happens. IT BETTER!

Nahh...I also with you on this one Adam. I really also thought Entropia was the second release, as most bands improve with successive releases. Concrete Lake is fine but I've filed that one away for the time being. Whilst Entropia has been in constant rotation in my CD player as I much prefer the heavier and crunchier feel of it.

I'll just add something to this that I read in an interview with Jason, 'cos it's a good tip. As well as giving the guitars more mids,Bob gave Jason a scoop that was almost exactly opposite to that of the guitars, so that again, they stand out more in the mix. Also, on the last two albums - again, this is a great way to go about it - there was more use made of the stereo "image"; because the guitars were panned left and right to a greater or lesser degree, and the bass remained in the middle, it stood out great. It didn't hurt, either, that it took Jason until after AJFA to learn to actually play bass properly, instead of just shredding under the guitars - his words, not mine. You'll notice how quickly JM disappears under the mix when he goes off on one.
