Ok. What you need to do is go out to the CD shop
and purchase every Santana album you see, including all the
live ones.
<<<<
No need fo that my friend; Just purchase the live records of Santana in
the 1974 called "Lotus"; a double CD that goes beyond every definitions
of "Latin Music"...
I also think the fan of King Crimson and Robert Fripp should dig this
album; especially RF in the Soundscape period...
About the posting considering the band Procol Harum (if I'm not
mistaken); they're a great band! Just listen to their "Pilgrim's Progress=
"
But they're not about shreds though...but about words and illuminations...
and textures of Hammonds' sounds=85
O yeah; DO NOT judge them by "A Whiter Shade of Pale"...=20
Peace and good happiness stuff!

I saw people talking about the toto drummer being cool, and I'm sure if you
really wanted to hear what he's got, just buy his solo album, don't know what
it's called exactly, Magna Carta carries it. And yes, he is rather on the
good side ;)

Personaly, I think Entropia is BETTER then ONe Hour . . . One hour has a
really formulized song pattern, each song has a slow middle section, where
everything breaks down in a slow piece. I love those parts, and I think One
hours kicks ass, but Entropia isnt formulized at ALL. Its psycho and its
fuckin amazing:>

Hello all,
Just thought that I would put my .02 on this Santana issue. I find that
Santana's music is quite interesting and quite "moving". I suppose that the
mix of all the auxillary percussion and blending of styles might have
something to do with it. As for his playing in general, superb. He has a
great deal of feeling in his music. Remember, it is not how many notes you
can cram into a measure but how you play them. I too have heard guitarists
play that can easily be outplayed by the Petruccis and Van Halens of the
world, but John and Eddie don't have the same ability to move you like
Santana can. Well, gotta run.. oh and btw, I love that song that Santana
does with Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20.. very cool! Later, J

I don't know of ANY portable player that would even come close to
qualifying as hi-end. However, if you were to acquire one of Panasonic's
top-shelf players and mate it with a better pair of headphones, you'd
have some of the best attainable sound-to-go well within your price range.
You'll want to bring your player with to audition the headphones. Power
hungry phones will be a challenge for ANY portable to drive. Some of
the high impedance Sennheiser phones my be ideal with a portable.
I'd also try some of the Grado, and AKG stuff. Don't be surprised if your
portable falls on it's face trying to drive some of the better headphones
to high volume levels. Lower impedance phones will also shorten battery
life significantly. Everything has it's price...

Yeah, but Simon Phillips hasn't >always< been their drummer. All of the
stuff I've heard has been with Jeff Porcaro, to my knowledge. He was a
pretty good drummer in his own right. May the worms stop eating him
someday. (in other words, he dead).

Well I have to say that I will be keen to see what EB come up with for JP.
IMHO I believe the Ernie Ball guitars are very nice. I wonder why EB
though? not PRS or Anderson or some other make. (I know about the
non-locking PRS trems and the TA only ever have 22 frets; I am just
speculating.) I think it is a shame that a player seems to play the guitar
because he has got a deal rather than he/she believes it to be the best
instrument.
I wonder if the contractual details are about money, number of guitars,
advertising or what. I know that SV and JS are the premier Ibanez endorses.
I know Vai has been with them for 15 years but it was him who invented the
RG/jem body and the back routed trem etc. etc. etc. So Via is an
intellectual share holder in Ibanez so to speak. He really designed the
break through instrument for them. Besides he loves his Ibanez guitars, you
just need to read any interview where he discusses them. I have never
hear/read about JP enthusing over his guitars like Via. Maybe JP just sees
them as more of a tool.

Oh my, you're missing out on one of life's best joys. Seeing Opeth
perform is similar to attending the world's best symphony-- only with
death vocals and "clean" passages intertwined! =)
Seriously, their shows are *amazing*. The guys themselves are *very*
cool; my copies of _My Arms, Your Hearse_ and _Morningrise_ are both
autographed. _Still Life_ is amazing, I'll handily agree, too.

Probably, but none that surface immediately. Mikael knows a good friend

I have to say that since JR has been with DT JP's playing has picked up
again with regards to speed accuracy. I have said it before but to my mind
you need competition between band members in this sort of band. You can't
deny that JP lost a bit of edge during the Derek years, too many "pet" licks
if you know what I mean.;} Do you need this element of competition to keep
your edge?
I think there is an element of competition between JP + JR think LTE2 linear
notes "keeping up with Jordan..."
Also "maturing as a player" is a term usually waved about when a guy starts
to play less technically demanding stuff and play more "tasteful," slower
passages. JP did this in FII, to my ears, atleast. (When you get older,
generally you become less competitive... a possible link.) If Derek was
less of a threat with regards to upstaging JP than say KM/JR this may
explain why the band was less innovative. I am not talking in terms of
musical merit or style here thought. But I will be interested to see if
people think the band is tighter as awhole on the current tour.

Well IMO lines in the sand has Jp's most inovative (different for him) moving
and one of the most beautiful solos hes played yet i think. Same with the
"lead" on Hells Kitchen. Hell even the Take away my pain solo is awesome.

Let's be perfectly honest with ourselves. OK, RIGHT NOW we live in this
kind of world, but imagine more sane and normal one! So what if in that
kind of surrounding you watch on TV some insane bloody movie as Natural
Born Killers, or some computer game (Doom) with violent elements,
shooting folks around, blood all around?
We're used to it, but imagine more pure world. You don't need to be as
them, but at least understand WHY they complain about games as Doom and
movies as Natural Born Killers. They just ask for a little sanity.
There are many artistic masterpieces (movies, songs, books), but the
topics dealed with in them are quite tricky. And if you have one healthy
kid raised in good environment, exposed to these things - this is the
problem. Again, we're used to it, for us it's even PERFECTLY NORMAL
hearing on news someone got shot or robbed or beaten to death, BUT it
can be a disasterous for pure mind of a child.
Not trying to sound like the guy who made that site, I'm actually quite
amazed HOW he came with such conclusions. What's sad is that because of
guys like him other folks generalize and proclaim as moronic one whole
religion or type of behaviour.

hey guys,
Is it just me or is this a bad situation. Tickets for all of teh shows
announced are on sale as of now, so if you are not sure about DT hitting
your town, you buy tickets and make plans to travel 800 miles. Later in
the week the rest of the dates are announced, and suddenly you spent 400
dollars for evrything for nothing. I haven' bought anything yet, but its
getting pretty close, and its a little silly I think the way this is
being done.

looking for a definition of 'remastering', a thought brought on by my idea
that it has something to do with cleaning up the sound on prior versions of
released albums, and the fact that I was listening to
Metallica's "...and justice for all" CD yesterday.
methinks that with a good production job, that might land a place on my all
time top 20 fave discs lists, but as it is now, some spots are just tough to
listen to....

And it happens again and again! ;( It's always the damn "buisness as
usual"!
Shesh, like Santana needed some crappy recognition as Grammy?
I mean, look at what Oscar and MTV awards turned into??? Can we take
those events as measure for QUALITY??? :(
They all spin around trends, fashions. And should I be happy when some
of my fave bands gets the award? Yeah right! :(

Yes. And damn again :)
And that drum solo in the middle, I think it's one of the best drum
solos I ever heard in my life.

That can be very close to true. Also here I see praises of the new
Santana album. Like "The guy finally did it!" PLEASE somebody shoot me!

Now here's new explanation for the word BLASPHEME!!! :( Huh
Do you read the Bible Dan? I have this passage that I memorized for this
kind of occasions. It goes:

Hi Dustro,
Well, I have not been back stage at the one and only show that I saw from
DT, but one of my net-friends was. At that time he was the keyboard player
of the Hungarian prog band called Serenity. Actually, this guy showed DS
how to play WFS, because he didn't know...
He took some pictures from the back stage, and on one of the pictures I am
present as well.;)
If you 're interested, I can give you an URL.
Bye
