Zack: regarding Pain of Salvation (even though I haven't ever heard any of
their stuff yet), keep in mind that Entropia was actually made BEFORE one
hour, and it's just being released here....(if i'm wrong, flame somebody
    else)

as for the below, maybe "we" should just be happy that a prog band won a
    Grammy :)

As for that Wall Street Journal article that mentionied "Progressive Rock"
as being "in" (or whatever it was), keep in mind that their vision of
progressive rock comes from the Pink Floyd definition of prog....bands like
Radiohead and lately Muse are probably the kinds of bands they're thinking
of as being prog (if not Phish or Ben FOlds Five (who I've seen described as
progressive before, go figure)), rather than the Yes/Genesis/Rush/DT side of
    things.

(one question, did Queensryche actually get a nomination for Operation:
    Mindcrime?)

For fans of No Holds Barred Radio, the new web site is finished and ready
for your approval. Go to htp://www.nhbradio.com. I must warn all the blind
people, the site was mostly designed by Mike using Microsoft Publisher 97
and is not totally blind friendly. If anybody can give me some suggestions
on fixing this problem, please let me know. The download page was done by
me using Front Page Express and is fully accessible. On our site, you can
learn more about the show, Mike and I, and can also learn about our
favorite web sites and cD recommendations. There is also a damon for
President page. And of course, there is the dwnload page where mp3 files
are available of some of our bits. "The download page will be changing
frequently, so if you want a bit, email me and I will try to put it up. and
don't forget to listen to no holds barred radio every Tuesday from 8 to 11
p.m. eastern time. for more information, go to http://www.nhbradio.com. It
is new, and it is improved. But we still will ofend you.

In addition, I have put all my friends and mailing listts that I frequent
into a distribution list caled, oddly enough, nhbradio. If you don't want
to be on this list, let me know. If you are receiving this through a
mailing list like pc-audio, then unless there is overwhelming support from
the list, or I am told by the list admin to stop, you're stuck. <grin>
These postings will not be often and they are not intended as spam, but as
a plug for hard work to be appreciated. so tell you friends, colleaguess,

rrg. There's more to music than listening to a guitar shred it up and envisioning how fast the guitarist's fingers must be moving, and how challenging it must be for them to do so. Santana has a very unique melodic sense that you don't don't if you're just listening to hear him shreddin' it up. -Banjoman

Ok. What you need to do is go out to the CD shop and purchase every Santana album you see, including all the live ones. Then see what you have to say. Santana is one of the most amazing guitarists in the world. Smooth's guitar solo is probably one of his less interesting ones. But you'll notice that he never wastes notes. Every note contributes to the story - check out songs like Samba Pa Ti or She's Not There. Also I hope the new album wins all the grammys. Its definately not his best album but I don't think its bad. Remember they have pretty much always been a pop band and there are other tracks on the album in a more jazzy or african vein. "The Calling" with Eric Clapton is also pretty good.

Well just remember that 'Entropia' came out before 'One Hour By The Concrete Lake', it was just a re-release as it was only originally released a few territories. I think both Pain Of Salvation's albums are outstanding pieces of work. Live they certainly are just as good, I saw them last November in Tilburg, The Netherlands and they blew me and a DT show I saw a couple of days earlier away with their live prowess.

    >What exactly is the difference between a label and a record company?

I'll take a crack at it but I'm not sure if I'm correct. A label is more specific than a record company. There can be several labels all owned by one record comapny. It's a imprint. For example, a record company might have 3 different labels, where one of them just signs metal bands or something. Then the people who work for that label will then concentrate on those bands. This allows for mor bands to get the proper promotion. I may off on this but I think I'm somewhere in the ballpark. Also, a label CAN BE the same thing as a record company but not always. For example, Roadrunner Records is both I would suppose because they are not owned by another company (to my knowledge). Hell, I dont know but I gave it my best shot! -Mike C.

Yes, and because they realized that this had been a stupid idea, they gave Metallica a Grammy every year. Remember they even got a Grammy for their "Stone Cold Crazy"? They went into a studio for an hour, recorded an old Queen song for an Elektra compilation, and won the Grammy. Really ridiculous (and that's what the band said themselves).

Hey, someone mentioned a page that was for people to hook up when they go to shows, I was wondering if anyone would tell me where it's at? Anyway, I and a few of my friends are going to be at the MN show on Feb 11th and I was wondering who else would be around so we could hook before the show perhaps...

AFAIK, "Small Club Adventure" and "Another Uncovered" are boots, but I can tell you definitely that "Touring Into Infinity and Beyond" and "Live Bonus Tracks" are Eurpoean promos... and very rare. Every once in a while a copy pops up on eBay, where I scored me a copy of "Live Bonus Tracks". What that is, basically, are the live trax from "Hollow Years" with TAMP and CIA9ITG also recorded at that same show.

    Hope this helps... Matt T.

My buddies sister is a singer in a band thats pretty big down south, i forget the name, but she dated Marylin Manson for a while and my buddie has talked with him on the phone a few times. He has a different voice and is a christian, he just does all that stuff to gain publicity.

YUCKO !!!! Well, you probably suffer from the same lack of sexual satisfaction that either "WarrenDickWad from Oregon" or that of Jon Parment, aka "he who can't do it fast hasn't done it" (even though "he who can't do it fast" probably hasn't done it for a LONG time - hehehehe).

As you age with grace (or even if you dont age gracefully) you will start to appreciate that the proper things placed slowly are of more value in the long run. Anyone want to trade boots of Gilmour doing Animals live in 75 or 77 ?? Gilmour may not be that fastest but he is great and I am sure he gets more slide than Parment or that indian from Oregon .....

    Cheers, Mark-san
