I must be too young to remember this term. What the hell is a twaize? Personally, having never met the man, I want to give James the benefit of a doubt. And sure, he may some dumb things during shows, but name one lead singer who gets up there and is just Mr. Cool every single show ( Axl Rose not included).

That's definately true. James was the nicest to me that night (I was at the
    same show).
I remember hanging out /w James and a few others making comments about how
    "cool"
the people in the club were. I think he told us "You think this is bad, I
had to walk THROUGH that crap" as he pointed to the backstage entrance. The
guy was really cool, and I didn't percieve him as an asshole at all.
It's funny; I almost bought tickets to th Tursday show, but I opted to go to
teh Friday one (Thank GOD. I would have been PISSED had I been at the closed
    show)

    Hey folks,
I saw these guys last night at Axis in Boston and it was
definitely was of the best shows I've ever seen. I hate comparing
different bands live, cause it's so often a different kind of music, but
the great thing about King's X is that they have such a great balance of
incredible hard rock groove and the tightness and musicianship that you'd
expect of a more progressive band. The new songs sounded especially good,
particularly She's Gone Away and Marshmellow Fields. I've never heard a
bigger sound coming from a band with just 3 guys. If you're even a casual
King's X fan I definitely suggest seeing them on this tour. I'll be at the
show again next week in Salisbury, MA (with the awesome guys in Event
    opening up).

Not that I like looking at lists containing cock sizes or anything. And about the 5 parts in a trilogy, you should have known what was being discussed before mentioning anything because that was in reference to the "Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy" series. The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy is a 5-part trilogy by Douglas Adams. The story is so complex and absurd, so I wont even try to say anything about it except that it's extremely funny.

I have personally a version called the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide, including all five parts. As for the ISBN number, it's: 0-517-14925-7

It's the funniest book I've read, so my advice is... read it. And don't panic.

they're talking about the increasingly inaccurately named Hitchhiker's Trilogy. It started with Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe (Don't Panic!). it's really funny sci fi. There's a real weird kind of insane logic to everything in these books (like the improbability drive). it's great stuff. I highly recommend it.

While looking through the metal vinyl vault today at WIXQ, I came across something...interesting...

On the front cover of Fates Warning's "The Spectre Within" album, which the station received roundabout 1985, there is a promotional sticker with the following remarks:

"This is the second release by the Connecticut-based Fates Warning. Very heavy progressive metal with haunting lyrics and melodies."

Q.E.D. the 'progmetal' label has been around since at least 1985, probably earlier if you figure it's in common use by this point.

Considering the implications is nothing short of terrifying.

I was at this show and from what I have heard since this gig, James had been told that the whole band would be arrested for ignoring the fire marshal if he went back out on stage. Had he not left the stage, he probably would've continued to sing, but apparently somebody convinced him to step off the stage for a moment and that's when he heard the threat. Also remember he is Canadian - not a US citizen, so he could have been concerned about whether they would allow him in this country in the future, or even to finish up the tour they were on. That's what I've heard and it sounds pretty believable.

I have all Douglas Adams' books and heard he was doing a signing for Mostly Harmless here in NYC. I showed up with my entire DA collection (not very large obviously), he signed all 4 previous and the new HHGttG books and both Dirk Gently books without a problem, then I got out my old stuff which pissed off his publicist!!! Douglas was very happy to see my stuff and actually offered to buy the 2 BBC Radio series LPs from me!! He apparently hadn't seen them since they were released long ago!! I had him sign them and then offered them back to him for $250 apiece, claiming they were more valuable now as they were autographed!!!! ; ) Of course I was joking, he knew it and we ended up (despite his unwanted, but paid for( by the publisher), security) getting bombed in an unsuspecting West Village bar!! We hung out - I was in the cab going by the time In fully realised who I had been drinking with!!!! I can't say more about the dude - he writes the funniest shit around!! Hey JAMmers, Okay you guy's are really starting to scare me with all these comparisons of DT and BJ. See even putting the bands initials beside each other should be a clue as to never compare Dream Theater to Bon Jovi. Granted the more I thought about t the more I have to agree, as to some similarities, but it's like hearing your parents having sex. You know it happens, but you don't think about it, then when you hear it images are brought to the mind which flat out just don't belong there.

BTW anybody else think Chris Jericho did a helluva job at the recent PPV. Speaking of Jericho, someone posted something about a band Fozzy which Jericho is part of a few days ago. <<???>> Anyone know about this.

One more thing I just got the Transatlantic CD ( Yeah I know I'm late as Hell ) and I'm curious Why is the "E" pointed out in TrEwavas? Is there a Pun or anachronism I'm missing in SMPT:E ? ( covering ignorance back up )

PEACE!!! Billy. "That which appears to be what you see,is something else entirely" Anonymous ( or I don't know ) np- anything to get BJ out of my head Damn you :-) ( just kidding ) actually it's Kittie "Get Off"

    Hey everyone,

I just finished putting the latest setlists into the tourography (the 2nd M2000 European leg - July 2000), so check it out if your curious as to what they've been playing (and perhaps what we can expect here in the US this next month). it can be accessed thru www.mikeportnoy.com and dreamtheater.mit.edu (it should be available thru www.dreamtheater.net shortly). When I get some more setlists (from earlier M2000 dates) I'll put those up as well.

He will never do the singing from Live at the Markee again, just because THAT is perfect.>

Actually he sang just as well on Awake, ACOS, FII and SFAm, Live at teh Markee's vocals we recorded in a studio ( know it sucks, but hey it was the early nineties)

    |Okay, I don't know if anyone else in here is a King Diamond fan, but I am.

    Right here!

    |When I got the new King Diamond CD I was surprised to see that Dave Harbour |was the new bassist (he and the drummer are from state of LA). I didn't get my HoG yet, so I didn't see the bassist. Can you scan the pic, and send it to me? Thanks

I should've known somebody will come up with this. My girlfriend said the same the thing a few weeks ago (although she wasn't specific about the songs).

I can't for the life of me believe that Ibanez would not make JP a seven string just because Vai has a signature design already. Wow, amazing. I the impression that since ernieball is a relatively new company, they're looking to outseat some of the big boys in the rock/prog/metal category. First Eddie and now John. They're slowly moving up. I gotta give'em credit.

But Julee -- wanting to buy a ErnieBall just because JP has one!? You've got too much money on your hands. :)

But come'on. I'm sorry, have any of you actually played a ErnieBall? In my inferior opinion... crap, trash, what were they thinking of? The body shape is weird, the guitars are too small, the necks have no room, and the sound is a we bit thin. I agree with whoever said that it's the pickups which give the guitar it's sound....but only to a degree mind you, the wood type of the body, fretboard, the bridge itself....hell, even the blasted nut have an effect on the tone. Try putting a Bill Lawrence 500XL bridge, and a seymour Duncan Blues 59' on a cheap a!s mexi-strat as opposed to a home grown american strat and you can hear a big difference in tone quality. Or Ha! try to put your basic stock Les Paul pickups on a strat.....that would be a funny sound. Certain guitars are built with the idea of using certain pickups.

I wish JP luck with the ErnieBall geetars I have a feeling he's going to either end up comepletely changing ernieball's setup or he's going to have to run it through so many rigs the sound might get all muddied up.

But hey -- open it up to conversation -- just my opinion on guitars, no big thing.
