}British supergroup Yes performed at Nissan Pavilion on
    }Sunday night, and apparently the group's 35-year-old
}keyboardist was not on his best behavior.

That (the story that this quote precedes)'s just embarrassing. At
least if it were Derek he would have ACTUALLY gotten some out of it.
    :P

}Pet peeve...."wherefore" means "why" *not* "where." This has
}been your English Factoid of the day. :)

And here's one for tomorrow. :)

"Whence" does not mean where - it means "from where." Like when you
see stuff that says to send something back "from whence it came" you
know it was written by someone uninformed. You shoulde sende him
backe whence he came. Ande aske him wherefore is he so stupide?

Alright, I might have tricked you to think I am writing about Dream Theater,
but instead I'm writing about Devin Townsend!!!! I got the official bootleg
from Hevy Devy Records in the mail today and it is awesome. I am sooooo
hooked on Devin right now that it's not even funny. The bootleg shows that
Devin can do live most of what he does on the cds. It also includes 4
acoustic songs which sound awesome as well. It includes material from
everything Devin has done (except Physicist), concentrating mostly on Ocean
Machine and Infinity, but with a song from SYL and another from Punky
Bruster (sp.?). Actually, could anybody who has the Punky Bruster cd post
their comments on it and how it compares to all of the other Devin stuff?
If you're a Devin fan you definitely need to get the Official Bootleg,
especially when it costs only $10 with s/h included! It is definitely a
bargain, and well worth the money.

Ah, that English degree is useful after all, isn't it?
    ;D

Don't mind me, I'm an art student.

By the way, on another unrelated-to-Dream Theater note, I'm looking for the
cream of the crop as far as orchestrated final fantasy music goes. I only
have a 56k connection and I'm getting sick of downloading some really corny
pop/smooth midi songs. So if there are any Uematsu fans on here, give me a
holler at eckie@asu.edu or here, or wherever. Open forums rule.

So far I've found a song titled Liberti Fatali (awesome)and another one titled
    Laguna
Battle. Haven't followed the actual game since number 7 on the PlayStation.
World of Ruin and Lunar Base are also really good tracks that I've found. I
think Andy might be able to help me out on this one.
(Yes, I will buy the CD...when I get $60 freed up to do so)

Okay, I'll throw in some Dream Theater content for the Arizona crew. What the
    hell, eh? :)

Are there gonna be any get togethers, or dare I say PARTIES before the show in
Phoenix? I still haven't bought my tix, but I'll be there, for sure. Like,
totally. We usually go and raid Hooters in the Downtown Center, let's raise
the ante and visit at Le Girls this time! Or not. Whatever. :)

I haven't been to Alice Cooperstown yet. Hey Vinnie, Cooperstown sound good?
    How about you Ed?

And I promise, Mr. Portnoy, not to make fun of your haircut this time. I cut
my locks off over a year ago too, so I can't say anything anyways. I wanna be
    like Mike. ;)

    James LaBrie is so dreamy.

    Don't panic.

This is a goddamn shame! Andre Matos was clearly the great driving force in
Angra, not only by the help of his characteristic vocals but also his
songwriting and keyboard skills. Confessori was not without talent
either...On the other hand it'll be interesting to see what Rafael and Kiko
will come up with now...who knows, maybe the split was for the best?

Actually, that's not strictly a jazz term. I was using a general music
theory term to poke fun at jazz musicians, even though I aspire to study
jazz in the near future. ;) A friend who has heard jazz and doesn't really
care for it told me he thought the playing was just "a lot of wanking with
a lot of chromatic BS and overused passing tones", in not so many words.
    *shrug*

DTC: I can't wait for the Electric Factory show on the 4th (next Friday
already!). This will be my first DT show where I have absolutely no idea
what to expect them to play. I may be doing this one solo, so if there's
any kind of gathering being planned, feel free to e-mail privately. That's
    all for now.

On Wed, 26 Jul 2000, Simon Krogh relayed like the loyal fan of good music
around the world these vital words:

    > >PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT
    > >
    > >Forget about the rumours, as Angra's not split! Andre Matos (vocals),
    > >Luis Mariutti (bass guitar) and Ricardo Confessori (drums) left the

    > >currently in the writing process of the band's forthcoming studio

Ah well. So the musicians in the band stayed, and the wannabe musicians left.

As a guitar composer, I too, feel the burden of mere mortals who think they
    can
carry an intelligible discourse in musical creation by posing as musicians,
when we, the true musicians, the loudest musicians, let's be honest, the
GUITARISTS, know that they're just a bunch of panty wastes who couldn't hack
playing a guitar and had to select their respective instruments.

The great Bahr once said, bass players are merely drop out guitar players.

John Petrucci is Dream Theater! Frank Zappa was the greatest composer ever to
walk the face of the earth! Trombone players can't compete!

I've created my own ezboard Online Community. It's called Ytsejam Discussion.

Discussion topics ranging from Dream Theater and Progressive Rock to why dogs give you that funny look when they don't understand why you do the things you do.

    Hi.

I've been waiting for _You Go Now_ to appear on the major online stores,
and yesterday it did - though on only two: Amazon and CD Connection -
However, BOTH list it as IMPORT, and the prizes are high (18.99 Amazon,

Does anyone know what's going on?

I haven't seen this posted here yet so I thought I'd post the link. Of course since I'm in digest mode my post will probably show up right after some other guy tells you first. I'll just have to risk the humiliation.

    ]From Angra's official site: (http://www.uol.com.br/angra/enews.htm)

Forget about the rumours, as Angra's not split! Andre Matos (vocals), Luis Mariutti (bass guitar) and Ricardo Confessori (drums) left the band. Rafael Bittencourt (guitars) and Kiko Loureiro (guitars) are currently in the writing process of the band's forthcoming studio album. In the meantime, auditions are being held so that the new members of the line-up can be chosen. The "Angra" moniker will be maintained. We do thank the attention of all and the throughout patience to wait until the official disclosure of the facts, even thought there were lots of false rumours about the end of the group's activities. Further news to follow soon.

    Yours,

    Rafael Bittencourt and Kiko Loureiro

As you can see, they claim they have not broken up, but they obviously have considering 3/5 of the band is gone. Andre Matos wrote a huge chunk of the music and was the reason most fans either love or hate the band. So for some of you, maybe this is good news if they get a good replacement singer.
