I just received my Mullmuzzler cd from cdnow today. They rock! Not
quite as complex as DT, but James Labrie's singing is amazing as always. I
haven't gotten a chance to listen to the whole thing yet, but as soon as I
do I can include some details. Shores of Avalon has a zeppelin feel
    though.

I have a siebenbuergen track on a black metal comp disc that I got with
Ablaze magazine in Germany. Let's just say they were the only band on the
disc that had some melody. The others sounded like puking into a microphone
with chainsaw accompaniment. I am curious to know how the disc is...I read
a bio on the band, but it was in German, so I may have missed something.

    there was a need.

Uh, you're a fool. Quit pretending you know anything about US culture or
law. When something needs to be changed, we change it. That's what
amendments are for, and there are nearly thirty of them. True, the very
basics of our government haven't been changed, but that's because until
recently they seemed to work pretty well, and I think still could with some
minor changes. Look at England there, mr. high and mighty. The basics of
your government grow out of common law and the magna carta, half a milennium
old. Once again, look in your own backyard first you ignorant...

..fascist. Yeah, that'll work real well. Fact is, just as the average
person really shouldn't be voting, the average autocrat is also a complete
fool, and often worse. Democracy has become something of a sham in this mass
culture age (at least the way we currently practice it), but it's still a
better alternative than a system where one idiot, asshole, or psychotic can
weild all power simply by being cutthroat enough to be the one who makes it
to the top of the power structure.

"Oh where will it end?" spluttered Brian; "Ban guns and what's next? Pipes and fertiliser?! Baseball bats & knives?"

For anyone hwo actually believes that this is even a valid point of argument: Knives, pipes and fertiliser are tools. They are frequently perverted and used to kil people. By sharp contrast, guns are made to kill something. If one shoots a person, you're using a gun for the purpose for which it was created. Even you should be able to grasp this crucial difference.

No...You've missed the point. The idea is to scare the living shit out of the parents, who - if they're at all sane - will then realise that maybe kids and guns DO NOT MIX.

I say it's the segment of the population who DOESN'T vote who has the right to complain. If you elect incompetent boobs into office, and they screw the government all to hell, then you're partially responsible (you voted for 'em) and therefore have no right to complain. I however, would have every right to complain b/c YOU'RE the one who copntributed to the mess. It wasn't my fault..... </Carlin-ism>

Was I not supposed to use my dad's Colt .45 to reshingle my roof? I was helping my dad nail the shingles on when my hammer let out this loud bang. I heard my dad cry out and just slump over and fall asleep in a puddle of ketchup. Funny, it's been ten years and he still hasn't waken up. He started smelling bad a couple of days after he went to sleep, but it's not so bad anymore.

Basically, the way I read it, it's OK to kill someone with a baseball bat because its primary use is not to be a weapon? Gimme a break. A weapon is a weapon. Those things you listed above become weapons when wielded by a person with the intent to use them as such. I'm sure I could just see someone coming at you with a knife. I could see your defense against him. "You can't use that on me! That's for cutting tomatoes!" -- KorgX3 remarks that crossbow bolts can't be traced like bullets. :)

I would like to consider myself someone who thinks, but it's all relative, isn't it?

Actually, I'm a total pacifist when it comes to fighting. But owning a gun really has nothing to do with whether you condone VIOLENCE, but rather whether or not you have a tool that fires bullets.

It's not even a Constitutional thing. For example: It's legal to own a boy and arrow. It's legal to own a knife. Why can't you own a gun? My uncle hunts every year, and eats what he manages to get. Granted, killing a deer may not be considered the most honorable of things, but I consider it to be much more honorable than eating a cow that somebody ELSE killed; it's cheaper too. I know families in Vermont that live off of nothing BUT venison during the winter - think of how much money they save every year on food.

You could be saying, "Why don't they just hunt with a bow and arrow?" I ask, "What difference does it make?" Whether it's a gun or bow, they accomplish the same thing. What it boils down to is this: I don't want to have to be punished because there are some wackos out there that like to kill. They'll do it with a spoon if they have to, but they'll still do it regardless.

    > Why is everybody so damn aggressive then?? If you want nice > peace, OR constitutionalism, then you should be a bit more open > to TRUE debate, I think. To put it in another way, both directions > have a positive source, but somehow what many of you transmit > ends up being negative.

You're right; too many people make this into an "I'm right, you're wrong" discussion, when it's not. Both parties have legitimate things to add to the conversation, and if we limit what they want to say, then we're not allowing their rights to be upheld, just as certain people want to limit OUR rights. (That previous comment is not to insult any of the non-gun people on the list, but I couldn't think of any other way to say it and still get my meaning across.)

Yeah, I mean... Hell, look at THIS planet. Anybody remember that Far Side cartoon, the one of God pulling Earth out of the oven and saying, "Oh darn, looks like I overcooked this one..."?

It's because you're using a mail client that puts "smart" quotes and apostrophes in. Find a pure ASCII text program (or if you're using Netscape or Outlook, tell it to write in plain text) and it should fix the problem without any questions.

About the TNT thread a while back. I am still a huge fan of them from the med eighties. I have all of thier albums including Tony Harnell's solo album with Al Petrilli called Morning Wood (several cover tunes). The released an album called Transisor recently and have a double cd coming out in May called "Big Bang Anthology" it will be a compilation of all of their albums. They are still an awesome band with lots of talent, Tony has lost his range over the years but that is to be expected. I would love to see them live, I do have a vid of them live in Japan. Unfortunatly they are with a shitty label Spitfire Records (Sab Bach, Alice Cooper, Uriah Deep. etc.) and they won't support a US Tour. Oh well. Take care

    Yep... http://www.pendragonusa.com

Unfortunately, they don't take credit cards, only money orders or checks.

$15 for the US version, $21 for the European Limited Edition, for $33 for both.
