I thought I'd come out of lurker mode and attempt my first post.

I saw DT at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas and in San Fran. Both great shows,
with SF being the best because of the sold out venue and the fact that OFB
really fed off of the energy of the crowd. Before both sets, Laura Palmer's
Theme, from Twin Peaks played and I was wondering what the connection was,
other than the obvious similarities between plots of SFAM and Twin Peaks,
i.e. murder of a young girl. If anyone has any ideas, I would appreciate
    it.

I was walking through the student union at wright state university here in
ohio, the most overpopulated state in the country, this morning. what was
this i hear as i approach the radio station? heavy, progressive-like riffing?
sounds a bit like DT. hmmm. closer. getting louder. closer. "Lost in the
sky-y-y-y..." good lord! DT on the radio?! i couldnt believe it so i took a
moment standing in the hall, just soaking it up. yeah, it was PMU, but so
what? at least it was DT. after hearing LTL on this same station years ago, i
    about cried.
    take care you bastards,
    jonathan

ps: DT also featured in the latest Metal Edge in an article by none other
than our beloved celeb-fan, chris jericho. hes a genius no doubt.

entire dialog from the movie. We did this a couple of

That's funny. The last time I checked, all it says is "Sign up for free Buffy The Vampire Slayer e-mail at http://www.buffymail.com" - in much the same way that ast the bottom of a hotmail message it says "Get your free hotmail at..." or "Get your free Dream Theater e-mail address at..." on UACM. What does it say to you?

And - assuming there is one - what precisely is your point?

Yes it is. You're getting it confused with DEBATE. Debate is the discussion and exchange of ideas between two parties interested in sharing knowledge in an amicable setting, and drawing up their conclusions.

By sharp contrast, an argument occurs when a person feels their ego has been offended by another person's view, and feels the necessity to air this fact. THAT is an argument, becasue both sides are 100% convinced that they are correct, and wish to convert the unsures to their cause.

Witness this applied to DT: we can DEBATE the definitive DT song. We are not allowed to ARGUE about who is the best keys player for DT. Which, in a roundabout way, brings me to this little nugget:

    >From: "G.J. Stafford" <stafcom@yahoo.com>

Don't be a prat, I'm not comparing their abilities (please God, let's avoid this argument again...). My comment was that they both have a habit of writing riffs that sound like they were written by guitarists - listen to Planet X and a large amount of LTE and you'll see what I mean. There's less of the KevMo / Wakeman style keys riffs; something like Chewbacca or the main riff from WTWB sound like guitar riffs. Derek is much the same...He and Jordan are both very much more agressive players than some other keys players. THAT was my point...And it wasn't even the main point of the post!

I'll say it again: READ, THINK, POST. NOT the other way around.

I take great offence at this. I am a National Socialist, which is much akin to being Wiccan: people immediately jump to trite conclusions based on misinformation. For the record, Wiccans are not Pagans, and National Socialism is very different to Nazism. You may think that I'm being harsh, but tough - that's the way the world is. We dopn't need people wittering about what MIGHT be NICE, we need someone to tell us THIS IS HOW TO GET OUT OF THIS MESS.

For those who have seen the concert. Who do you thinkis better. Derek or
    Jordan?

I have an opinion on this, which I'm not going to post because I haven't
really given it too much thought, but I don't really see why we can't debate
Derek vs. Jordan. Jordan's a new addition to the band, and naturally a lot
of people have opinions about him that have not really been shared yet. In
the case of Kevin vs. Derek, I wasn't here at the time, but it is my
understanding that it was just a big flame war with no real hope of
resolution. I don't think the Derek vs. Jordan thing should be banned (yet,
at least), but I'm not the one runnin' this list....

Does anyone know anything about a summer tour plan?

Hey dudes, First off mad props (uhh) go out to Matt Smith here on the Jam, Paul, Josh from the mirror and all those other people I met who I forgot their names. Especially those patting me on the back when I almost passed out. Ill get to that later

Tuesday: Caught the train at 7:00 am, nothing special got to Atl @ 8:20went to the hotel and watched the Tom Green show w/ guest Monica lewinsky. Funny shit.

Wednesday-woke up, ate walked over to Tabernacle. met this guy Chris from NY who drove staight dwon from the NY show. We walked to underground Atl where he bought LTE2. We moved his car to my hotel then caught Marta up to the signing at Mars. There I met Paul, DJ Phil, and the rest of the hommies. I was 3rd in line, met my idols, then we finally were able lure Paul away (hehe) and went back to the Taberbacle. There we met these peoples from Bham Alabama who had been there since 12:30 pm. After goofing off in line hehehe the pricks finally herded us all into the lower room. My disciples (really feeling it now) hung out at the room at the top of the stairs. Finally the said its open. I puushed my up the stairs and ran for the front crashing the baricade and this cute girl. Oh well. My arm took the brunt of it. ouch. Anyway the show started, Star People were ok, not my thing. Neither were the dregs. Good but I think the next show that will be the longest hour of my life.

DT-ok this is serious shit. By Stange Deja Vu I was covered in sweat. I dumped someone water on my head just to get the cool spray headbangin effect. Me, eric (my travel bud) Chris, the guy next to me and Matt all were headbangin, everyone else was just standing there. During Fatal trajedy I made a fatal error. I over exerted myself and damn near passed out. Jordan kept lookin at me with this face like cmon man get back up. I couldn't I rested during through her eyes, then during home the same thing happened. Finally a security guard came over and asked "Do you need water" I said yes then he said go get some. I never thought of that. this is were it gets good. I started a beeline for the bar, pushing my way through. I ticked a few peopel off, coming back this dude pushed the hell out of me, and before you know MOSH!! only for a few secs. It was during the heavy part of DOE. I did it Paul. WOOHOOO. Anyone got back up fornt. And rested for the ending. The last songs I got back into the intense jumping, moving etc. Mike saw me when I was almost passed out, and saw me during the encore. After TTT he came down, with everyone pointing at me, he walked over and said "YOU!" and handed me his stick. that was the most amazing feeling of my life. After the show I went straight back to hotel exhausted. Got up the next morning and came "home" Wow.

Seeing DT in orlando was amazing. Great show, and in the meet and greet, the band members stayed till 3am to sign autographs.

It was great meeting all the Jammers at the Florida show! The House of Blues was filming the concert for their concert internet broadcasts, so if you want to see me and Paul Cashman going insane in the frontrow of the show, check it out.

Josh and I were arguing while watching the LiT video over whether or not Myung had his six-string bass during the recording of I&W.

I told him that I was pretty sure that he and Petrucci bought their six- and seven-string guitars respectively while they were they were doing the Images and Tour. He said that he thought Myung had the sixer while they did it and said that he had it for the video - but the videos were shot quite a while after the album was recorded, wasn't it?

Settle this argument between us, please!

James said the "see you in the summer Baltimore" and "see you in the summer Philly" at both shows that I went to last week. Usually when they tour for a CD, they make two rounds through the US. But, until last monday, they haven't been to Baltimore since Awake. so I don't know where they're going to tour if they do come back around a second time. hope i helped. later.

    > Josh and I were arguing while watching the LiT video over whether or not > Myung had his six-string bass during the recording of I&W.

Ughh.... You would have to ask that wouldn't you? :) It's been a long time... But... as far as I remember... John Myung's first 6-string was a Tobias that he picked up sometime around when DT were recording I&W. He recorded some parts of the album with his old 4-string you see him playing (I think it was for LtL) on the video in the studio, but some parts of I&W definitely were played on a 6-string (Take the Time, for example).

Jeez, I hate to sound like an idiot, since I haven't watched Live in Tokyo for ages... but I'm pretty sure he was playing the Tobias through the live shots. Shit, I wish I could remember if it was Tobias or not. hehehehe. He didn't switch over to his yellowish Tung until Awake was released, I'm pretty certain. Then after FII, he got this wonderful Yamaha (I love this thing!). I'm pretty sure, though, that all of WDADU was recorded with a 4-string.

I hope that made sense. heheheh. As far as Petrucci's 7-string, I don't think he picked one up until they started recording Awake. I'm pretty sure he never used one on the I&W tour at all, and if he did, it was VERY late in the tour. He was playing Puppies on Acid on his 6-string JPM back then, I believe.

Damn, I wish there were a timeline on DT instruments. heheheh. It's all very sketchy to me. :) Like when Mike changed to Mapex, then back to Tama... Derek growing his hair out long and switching to one Kurzweil... etc. :) -- KorgX3 is pretty sure that's Myung's story, though. NP: Anthrax - Blood.mp3

The Radiant Records order form IS secure, only the frame which it nests in is not - that's why you get the little open-lock symbol. Try opening the order form in it's own seperate window (outside of the framed site), and you'll see that it is secure.
