Does anyone else here wonder why Pull Me Under gets the attention it gets?
When I first bought Images and Words, listening for the first time with unprejudiced
ears, I thought Pull Me Under was one of the weaker songs. And this isnt just
because it is simpler and not as proggy, because Images and Words was about
the first prog album i got (maybe after Crimson King). I think the lyrics are some of
of their worst.

Ive only heard His Voice off Mulmuzzler, but from what Ive seen of Mike M
he's seems like one of the most 'wow!' drummers out there. The guys incredible and
very flashy, so Im surprised you say this about the CD. Any further comments?

No, James just told us they were touring down there.
I don't think they've ever actually toured on
their own in S.A. They've played a few festival gigs, yes, but the
clear implication I had from James was that this was an actual tour,
with them headlining. Let's hope so, anyway. :)

The Tabernacle in Atlanta also has at least one fixed-mount camera
which is used for the in-house monitors (nice touch, those). HOB
Orlando was a bit different -- they put a lot of effort into it, with
cameramen, etc. It was clearly for something decently big, but what?
It was NOT for a DT home video, or at least if it was, it'll be a bit
of a surprise....I'd asked James in Atl. if any shows were being
recorded for home vid and DVD and he said no shows were being recorded
on video FOR THEM until later in the year, but that as always, they
record every show on audio. (And Mike P. has them all under a bed
somewhere about 1000 miles northeast of here. :))
So, the question remains, what is "House of Blues Digital" and will
there be a chance to see that show again? Some of the camera work was
pretty schweet -- up close and personal, really tight on John P.'s
fretwork, etc. Or as the guy next to me said, "Hey! I paid $30
bucks to see the show, not this cameraman's ass in my face!" heh

Alas, I asked James about DT playing Australia (after Graham B. asked
me to :)) and he said anything so far is just a rumour. They'd LOVE
to play Australia but the costs of getting there are too high. Then
he remembered an airfare deal from L.A. ($819 round trip on New
Zealand Air)..... But still, it'd be tough to get equipment over
there. Even down from Japan would be tough. Sorry your news isn't
as positive as South America's.

Your right some are way too serious here.... Your worthwhile contribution today was to tell us that you still haven't got the DT Xmas CD, riveting news for the rest of us I'm sure. That news had us on the egde of our seats, anxiously waiting for your CD to arrive.

Well, I've just finished my first day of work after the most intoxicating DT weekend imaginable, and I'm exhausted. I got up at 10:30 AM Thursday to pack my stuff, and I worked until 1:15 AM Friday. I drove to my home in Auburn, picked up fellow jammer Joel, who had crashed there overnight, and we headed out. We met another jammer, Wade, in Brewton, AL, at 5 AM, and we headed southeast.
We got to Mars Music in Orlando just after 2 PM, and Portnoy's new video was on the many big screen TVs in there. The video looks incredible, and if you enjoy watching MP play, regardless of whether you're a drummer, you will enjoy this one. MP and Rod Morgenstein came out to sign autographs, and both of them were as nice as you could hope for big famous rock stars to be. Rod signed my Platypus CD, and Mike signed a SFaM CD that will be on its way to Macedonia in the morning. I heard a guy standing in line complain that he "drove TWO HOURS for a clinic and all this is" is a autograph signing. What a pussy. Wade won a door prize at Mars - a T-shirt, which relieved him of his obligation to actually pay for a souvenir for his wife.
The show Friday night was incredible. The House of Blues is actually at Disneyworld, which surprised me. Many of you already know this, but don't be shy while waiting in line at a DT concert - you never know who you'll meet. The Star People came on at 9 PM. There were entertaining for about ten minutes, then the repetitivenes of their music overwhelmed the inherent silliness that I thought would be so entertaining when they first took the stage.
The Dregs took the stage just before 10 PM. HOLY SHIT!!! These guys can play. The rollicking country jam that they did toward the end of their hour-long set brought the house down. "Can they play any damn faster? Shit! They sped up again! I guess so!" The only complaint I had about the Dregs was the overpowering delay on the lead guitar tone (JP's leads sounded this way, too, so I blame the house sound guy, if such a person exists. They didn't sound that way the next night in an outdoor venue). They didn't play Peaches - I guess I'll have to buy the album to hear that one....
DT hit the stage around 11:10. I had fears that they would have to cut the show short because of some curfew law, but thinking back, I can picture some Disney exec putting some grease in his hair, slicking it back, and shouting, "I am above the law!" SFaM was otherworldly. JP's new guitar sounds wonderful. Mike must have taken a bottle of white crosses, because he was hyperactive. "Amazing Grace," "Through Her Eyes," and the crowd singing along to "The Spirit Carries On" all caused my eyes to get watery. I noticed that "Home" and all of the songs they played after SFaM were played slower than the album versions. I wonder why they did that?
The video screens were an excellent addition to this show. Even though they don't really explain much, plot-wise, they look great! I only wish DT had the money to get a big projection screen behind them like Rush used to. The two snippets from WDaDU were mind boggling, and the mask MP wore during Dr. Evil's theme was very funny. It look like a prototype of a new Kiss member's makeup, with long black hair. There were also several videocamers taping the show for broadcast over the web at http://www.hob.com sometime in the near future.
After the show, I got to speak to several people, including Paul Cashman, Ryan Webb, Dr. Dave, Adam Pye, and a few others. I didn't get to meet Eric Moegling, but I was able to see many familiar faces. Hello, you guys! Those of us who waited outside were lucky enough to have and opportunity to speak with Steve Morse, Jerry Goodman, Dave LaRue, and all five members of DT, including Myung! I spoke to him briefly, and he was very nice to me. He got an ovation when he stepped outside with us, because everyone was shocked to see him mingling with us. I spoke to James, and he told me, to my delight, that there will definitely be another Mullmuzzler album. He didn't say anything about who would be playing on it or writing with him, but I don't really care :) As long as Mr. "I'm a baritone but I can sing a high G and make it sound good" has his voice on there, I'll enjoy it somewhat.
After 2 days without sleep, we crashed at our hotel room. We made the measly 200-mile trek down to the Pompano Beach show with plenty of time to spare, so we got to hang out on the grass in the parking lot, enjoy a few adult malt beverages, and impress the non-jammers out there (I didn't know there were any) with the DT footwear I brought with me. By the way, all of the info I saw on the web said that this show was going to be in West Palm Beach. That's in a different fucking county!
Saturday night's show was different from Friday night's show in a few ways. Most importantly, they played outside, which probably improved the sound a bit to everyone that wasn't standing ten feet from the frontals like we were. DT seemed to be a bit tighter on Saturday, but SFaM didn't impact me as much because I'd had that cherry popped for me the night before. They played the same set, but the last few somgs were played MUCH faster due to the fact that they had to be off the stage by 11 PM. James made a funny statement to the crowd to this effect before they broke into a frantic outro to TtT. I hoped Steve Morse would come out and play something with DT since Saturday was the last show on the tour for the Dregs, but nothing cool like that happened.
We hit the road just before midnight, got caught in the midle of nowhere with only a little bit of gas, and had to buy enough gas at $1.69 a gallon to get us to a cheaper station. At about 4:30 AM we got to exit 73 on I-75, just south of Gainesville, and we went in a place called the Risque Cafe for a few moments. This place is a 24-hour restaurant, just like Waffle House, except for 3 things. The waitresses are all stunningly beautiful, they are completely naked, and there is a dildo shop in the back where the jukebox should be. We didn't stay, though, because I would have fallen in love if we'd been there much longer. I must recommend this place to anyone who's in the area, if only for the atmosphere. I suppose that place gives new meaning to the phrase "Waitress? There's a hair in my soup...."
In all, we met DT and the Dregs, saw them twice, set off the smoke alarm in a hotel room (biaxident ;), and drove almost 2,000 miles in the space of 60 hours, only five of which I spent sleeping.
And you know what? I'd do it again next weekend if I could.

let's take an example, girls might go for the guys, but guys, go for the girls as well- i mean look at how popular Britney Spears, Lopez, Mariah Carey, Aqua (don't know how well they do in the States, but they or rather she's popular with the guys here) and i can tell you, it's the same mental attitude everywhere.

objection, objection! I live in Singapore and I know tonnes of guys who buy cds, vcds of live concerts of females because they are pretty or their boobs are big!
on my part as a female, i listen to DT (big-time fan) and yes, girls generally don't like progressive rock/metal, metal, etc, and i get stared upon largely as abnormal- BUT- down here, i get lots of guys who give me weird looks for listening to DT as well!

Hey jammers. I live in California, and we, along with several other states, are to vote for President of the United States today.
If you want a liberal Democrat in office, please ignore this message entirely.
If you want a conservative candidate who will stand up for our values and the words of our Declaration of Independence, then I urge you to consider what I have to say here.
It is my opinion, which I share with many other Americans, that John McCain has completely sold out the values that represent the Republican Party and which our country was founded. Why do I say this? It's simple.
John McCain goes around spouting that he's a "Pro-life Reagan conservative", when in fact all 3 of those terms are not descriptive of John McCain.
He has said that his daughter could get an abortion if she wanted. He voted to CONTINUE partial-birth abortion, AND he SKIPPED the only US Senate vote on Roe vs Wade in 16 years to campaign for himself in New Hampshire. When he calls himself Reaganesque, he says it's because he will unite the party and all Americans, but then he says we are NOT to include religious people in our party. That is not uniting anything. And the fact is, he plays on people's emotions bacause he was in Viet Nam. His main issue is the military so (and he has said so) we can overthrow other governments which we disagree with. And he has stated that he thinks and votes very much like Bill Clinton - except he said "I think of it more like Bill Clinton is a lot like ME".
And while he spouts his version of campaign finance reform, he is collecting millions of dollars from many special-interest groups.
Do we want this man in office? He has completely sold out our principles, and in my opinion is a hypocrite who CANNOT be supported.
But I don't think George W. Bush is the best thing to happen to the Republican party either.
While his heart is in many times at the right place, he too is unwilling - and dare I say unable - to really stand for the issues as well.
He has said that he makes rape-incest exceptions for abortion. He has also said that while he KNOWS this makes no sense, that's just the way he feels. He's trying toi get the vote. He thinks his tax plan is the greatest thing in the world, but it's still YOUR money, which he fails to recognize.
And have you noticed the way he crawls around the issues? If you ask him a difficult question (for instance - What would Jesus do with the death penalty? - the answer to which is that he accepted it) and he freezes up and talks about his record in Texas.
Just answer this question to yourself: Will he beat Al Gore ion the fall? Well, my sad opinion is that Al Gore will tear up G. W. Bush, because Bush is incapable of firmly stating our beliefs on the issues and clearly communicating those stances in a way that can reach the public consciousness. And if he tries, it still won't do much good. The economy is booming, and most people are very happy with it. True, the President does not dictate the economy, but we would be going against all of American history to expect we would hand the White House to another party with a great economy.
The Democrate have one big weakness - but GWB will not take advantage of it. This weakness is the moral decline in America today.
All this, and more, are the reasons I firmly support Ambassador Alan Keyes for the Presidency.
He is the ONE MAN who will take a stand, against all obstacles, for truth and integrity.
I'm tired of voting for a "lesser of evils" - they are STILL EVIL! And now we have a man who is not evil at all. In fact, in my opunion he rocks out.
But the liberal media doesn't say much about him, do they? Why is this? Well, it's simple. They don't know what to make of a black conservative like Dr. Keyes, and they're su busy cramming John McCain down our throats that they (and I believe deliberately) ignore the ONE candidate to truly stand for the principles on which this nation was founded.
But that doesn't mean WE have to. I strongly urge you to look into what Alan Keyes has to say.
When all is said and done, there's only one way to win in the fall. And that way is to take a stand for moral integrity, which only Alan Keyes is willing and able to do. And he has demonstrated this fact many times in the debates that have taken place.
You may say he can't win the nomination, but if your vote means nothing to you, then your integrity means nothing as well.
One candidate is unwilling to challenge the democrats, and another is unable.
What makes you think they can win? If Alan Keyes gets the nomination, he WILL win.
The problem is that nobody knows he's running, so he gets a low percentage of the votes.
BUT THOSE VOTES WILL BE NOTICED!
Please, join me. Take a stand for truth and integrity.
Only one man knows how to deal with abortion, and the income tax, and the United Nations (he was the UN Ambassador under the Reagan administration) and only ONE MAN understands the sovereignty of the United States, and how NOBODY has the right to take our freedoms and rights away.
Please join me in support of Dr. Alan Keyes for Republican Presidential nominee.
Together, we will let the world know that SOME people in this country still care.

Was cathing up on jams and saw someone mention White Heart, and he said something that it was the Huff brothers' first band before they went on to the studio musician career. I might be totally wrong here, but I think that White Heart was formed (much like Koinonia, anyone know them?) around talented christian studio musicians... for example, Tommy Sims played with them for a few albums etc.
