Dammit! you're right, Andrew. shit, I haven't had any science
classes in 6.02 x 10^23 years, except for Physics of Music, and I
don't think I'd come across moles in that! (Would I?)
btw, I listened to some of your friend's stuff. I must say that
I certainly would have guessed that he had a theory background,m
had I not known otherwise. Sometimes the chromatics in the
harmony seem a little random, but only sometimes. Overall,
though, can't tell. I guess there are always exceptions. (wow,
whatta copout!) :P
The main melody is quite good. Sounds a little too much like
"movie music" for my tastes, that's probably the point, and let's
face it, that's where the leitmotif has gone. Wagner would NOT
be pleased. :)

So my post was too stupid to reply to, but you decided you would
anyway? uh, ok.
In an intelligent argument I wouldn't have said that. E-mail is
informal communication. I can say whatever and whomever sucks,
and so can anyone else.

How hard is it going to be to get a copy of the CD single that is being released in Europe? Will it be as simple as an on-line european outlet?
Also, I listened to SFAM again tonight all the way through- for the first time since the Pompano Beach show. It answered a question I had at it's release: Will SFAM as an album have the long-lasting effect and fan retention that I&W has to date. As an album: I THINK YES. As for individual songs: NOPE. The concept album will hold up with time because of it's broad spectrum of sound, solidness of character, and perhaps on the sole merrit that it is the first time since Kevin Moore, DT has a stable keyboard master. Don't get me wrong- I'm not trying to start another fucking flame war here, but DAMN is this guy fantastic. On the other hand, no DT tune has yet to surpass the popularity of PMU, or the "all-encompassing" TtT. Maybe with this new combination.....
What do you guys think?

Here's my take: Ok-Victoria is originally in love with Julian. She leaves him and has an affair with edward becuase of Julians gambling and drug habits. Julian cleans himself up, and Victoria realizes she truly loves him, and their love renwed, theyd ren...you know. Anyway, Edward kills both of them and leaves the note framing his brother ina murder/suicide. This is where it gets weird. nich comes out of regression, and goes home. Well he now knows what happened to Victoria. (nich is Victoria reincarnated) The hynotherapist is Edwards reincaranation. He knows the secret will be out, so he kills Nich at the end. OPen your eyes Victoria/open your eyes Nicholas (parrallel lines) what I don't get, the TV broadcast is supposed to be telling the story of what happened to Edward right. Maybe its supposed to be about JFK jr to show where this is happening in time. So Edward/hynotherapist gets away with 2 murders, but how bout Metrolpolis 3. After all, Nicholas does have a son: "Ive got a son Ive got a wife" Could maybe his son become Julian reincarnated. he is the only character with a dead end (no pun intended) hehe Goodnight, Kurt

DSB = Deadly Sperm Build-up. It's when the daily recycling process of your semen isn't being rotated in a natural manner (i.e. sex, wet dreams, masterbation, urination, etc.) and it makes your scrotum swell up like the Elephant Man. It's basically the male version of PMS. Symptoms include grouchiness, bloating, enlarged testes, itchy urethra, and scrotal rupturing. If you don't take care of yourself, you could end up looking like this: http://www.jollydwarf.com/gallery/36.jpg (sorry for posting your pic publicly, Eckie!)
I thought this was a well-known illness. Take this information to heart as a little bit of preventative insight on how to curb the syndrome of DSB. -- KorgX3 thinks Beetlejuice kicks ass.

It is not my theory, I can`t recall who told me that, but how would Nicholas feel that he could trust a man he had never seen???? Maybe because the man is Julian reincarnated...

The thing is, it's reasonable to call Hendrix the most INFLUENTIAL guitarist ever. No-one can seriously dispute that, can they? But to say that he's the BEST - now, that is just ridiculous. Page had better chops, more emotion and more composition. Satch has better chops and a better singing voice (Which is saying something!). Do I need to mention this guy called John Petrucci?
Sure, Jimi was good in his time. But the influence that he's built up is largely a result of his premature death and high profile. Otherwise he'd have ben eclipsed long ago.
The last thing I'll say on theory:
I thought of this last night, and it pretty much sums the thing up: I know theory, but I'm limited by what my fingers can do. Theory will not enable me to play a 32nd note acending-descending AmDim7 argeggio pattern at 200BPM so what use is it? Well, it means that I can turn to any other musician in the world, someone who DOES have the chops to do that, and they will know EXACTLY what I'm asking them to do. Still, the dichotomy here is that although being a professional musician enable one to play exactly what one's told, the code of the profession demands that you "Do it your own way"!!!!! ;)

Watching re-runs of the Muppet Show, as I do just about every weekday night, I recently saw the episode with the woman who used to play Edith on All in the Family (Jean Stapleton?). When some people (Muppets) complained that the Swedish Chef was not, in fact, speaking Swedish, she explained that he speaks "Mock Swedish." Luckily, she was fluent in Mock Swedish and was able to converse with the Chef. It was quite amusing to hear here doing the Swedish Chef schtick.....

Hello All,
I thought I wouldn't be in the UK for the concerts because of job reasons but everything got rescheduled, and so guess what?, London is sold out I haven't got a ticket - waahhh!!! Charlie, thanks for the ticket sites but they've sold out.
And so I thinking of sacrificing myself to the ticket touts, is that recommended? Or maybe travelling oop North to either risk my neck in Manchester or visit Nottingham - or even maybe both! So, Graham, Charlie and other UK Jammers which ones are you doing?, is anybody going to do a grand tour?!
By the way I recently bought Ayreon - Into the Electric Castle. Terrific stuff!, the breadth of styles, beautiful vocals to death-metal growls. Thoughtful melodies to all out rocking - definetly recommended.

The feeling you described has been called Flow, by the psycholgist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi (or something ;-). He did various researches on happiness, and most participants came up with answers like yours, no matter what their activities were. The book "Flow - psychology of the optimal experience" contains the results from his investigation, as well as methods to reach flow.
The book "The inner game of music" that Chris mentioned, covers the same field, but it's written especially for musicians. This book has a lot of useful methods, allthough I haven't tried all of them yet. According to UACM, it's John Petrucci's favourite book :-).
People from Eastern cultures always seem to reach this flow state much easier. An interesting book about this is "Zen in the art of archery" by Eugen Herrigel. In order to learn about Zen, he took a study in archery in Japan, from a Zen Master. In his book he describes how hard it is for us western people, to grasp the principles of Zen. He had trouble learning things, which 5 year olds in his class could learn immediately. There are also a lot of books about meditation that might help, like "3 minute meditations" by David Harp.
I think that all of these books could help to become a better musician, but the methods presented require a lot of dedication and concentration. It's not some simple trick which can be learned by just reading these books.

That's interesting, though. I slip into this state all of the time. It's like self-hypnonis. Like a small portion of your mind is aware enough to perform functions, but the larger portion is off in lulu-land. I always improvise some really cool shit in this mode, but can never remember it when I leave. And when I try to record myself just the knowledge that I'm recording leaves me completely detached from this "Flow."
What's scarier is I do it on the road without realizing it. :) hehehehe. I'll pass exit 183 and the next thing I'll know I'm at 201. I'll know I've been singing the whole time, which is really odd considering it might be to an album that I don't know alot of the lyrics to. It's amazing that I don't run off the road or rear-end somebody. Maybe it was just all the acid my mom dropped when she was baking my fetus, I dunno. -- KorgX3 eats the color sponge from his pink highlighter. NP: David Arkenstone - A Special Place.mp3

I was poking around the House of Blues site and I found this...
>>> DEVIL DOLL Recorded Live at House of Blues Las Vegas Las Vegas, NV 05.01.99
Sexy, rock-a-billy swing is what you can expect from this not-yet-signed sextet that opened for Mike Ness in Las Vegas, on May 1, 1999. Catch a look at this video performance, and you'll know that a record deal can only be moments away. >>>
Little do they know that there's an Italian prog band / entity of the same name. Could mean trouble.
Speaking of legalities, what ever happened to the inferior Superior (the crummyBritish alt-pop band, not the German uber-Superior)?
And, on a non-related note, where's Big Wreck these days? Dropped off the face of the planet post-1997...
