    Hey folks---

I was just wondering if anyone knew of a place on the internet where i could
order the Metropolis 2000 white T-shirt that has the newspaper article on it
and the DT logo on back. I got the one with the band on front and majesty
symbol and tour dates on the back. I love it but i only had enough cash for
that one and I wanted the commerative (sp?) tour book and white T-shirt as
well, but I guess im only looking for the white shirt now. haha
Maybe someone who has an extra could sell or trade.....(pref Large)
    Thanks

Yep, Hendrix was very influential. I don't think that
his "influence" was effected by his death. His
"mystique" was enhanced though. For example, Van
Halen, Hetfield and Malmsteen were all very
influential. But they have a lot less mystery
(reverence?) around them since they are still alive.

Damn that's painfull! (Well, actually it's kinda fun
if you have grounding problems.) I shall now write a
book on "Guitar Pricking Technique". ;o)

Someone asked if SFAM will have the same staying power as I&W.
Well, I think Scenes is by far the best DT album to date, and it may very
well turn out to be the best they ever do.

Tracks 2-5 are my favorite (especially the bridge section in Strange Deja
Vu), and I think it kicks I&W pretty bad.

I know Images has some really good stuff on it, and that it's the album that
started this whole mini-revolution we have going here, but Scenes is more
evolved, kinda where everything came together for them.

It's their first album IMO that can be listened to over & over and just
    REFUSES to get old.

Yeah, I agree. I used to put down all forms of electronic music, thinking
there was no talent involved, until I started making it myself! - in addition
to prog :) Its alot more intelligent than I thought and is very
interesting...and fun. You'd be suprised...it's not just all samples and
looped artificial drum beats, it gets alot cooler and more creative than
that. I'm still waiting for Satch's new album from CDnow, but I think it's
great that a top notch musician like Satch is experimenting with technology.

date - the record is already out!

I live in Kansas City, MO, and we've had the record since tuesday...
or maybe my local record store is a little too nice to me? :)
    doubtful...

where are the samples from this record? electronic, huh? uh oh... :)

    Hey ytse guys and gals,

I have a question regarding a song (title, and artist) that I am trying to
locate. Unfortunately, I am having a hard time finding it since I have
neither the name of the song nor of the artist! Any of you from the NY/NJ
area who have ever listened to WSOU might be of some service (if you exist
on here at all), they had it on rotation during the summer of '98 very
regularly. I am almost certain it was a cover of another, older, and much
mellower tune - what I'm after is a fairly heavy, hard core song. The
chorus includes, "green river, roll on, roll on, take me back to the place
    where I belong."

There was more, but I don't know the words exactly. I know, real helpful,
right? Anywho, it's kind of hard to run searches on the internet without
the kind of information that I am asking for. :) If anyone has any ideas,
no matter how farfetched they might seem to you, PLEASE just pass them on
to me! Private mail or jam, whatever is easier.. I will chase down
whatever lead I get. There will be no flameage if it dead ends. :)

    Thanks in advance!!

    >Just the
    >fact that he had Nitschean ideals and nationalist views don't make him
    >"a nazi"

First of all, if someone had Nietzschean ideals, that would instantly
qualify as them as being extrememly anti-Nazi. But since this guy doesn't
even know how to spell Nietzsche, he's probably never read anything he's
ever written either. And it was the other way around. As a young man
Nietzsche idolized Wagner but later came to hate him passionately for a
variety of reasons, both personal and philosophical. Wagner certainly
wasn't a Nazi, because there were no such things as Nazis when Wagner was
alive (duh!). But the fact remains that the Nazis, while publicly using
Nietzsche's name and noteriety in their cause, realized how anti-Nazi his
ideas actually were and they censored his writings heavily and did not
allow them to be read in their original form in universities. On the other
hand, the Nazis didn't censor anything Wagner said or composed, and the
fact that they allowed him to be exposed to the public without censorship
implies that they felt he supported the Nazi's ideals. It is unfortunate
that people don't take the time to read Nietzsche, but instead continue to
rely on uneducated stereotypes that have no foundation whatsover in his
    actual work.

This went through the Devil Doll list about a month ago.
According to some higher-up sources, The American band has
been made aware, but don't give a shit. Renaissance and
Hurdy Gurdy probably don't have the money or interest to
    pursue a lawsuit right now.

If DD ever make it out of Slovenia and Italy to do a gig,
I'd be surprised. Bootlegs are non-existant.

Keep the faith. Apparantly a 2nd box(?) set is in the works,
    based around Dies Irae.

    band consists of:
    Pete Jewell - Vocals

    George Glasco - Guitars
Jeff Janeczko - Keyboards and Piano
    Rob Munshower - Bass
    Graeme Wood - Drums, Vocals

soo what`s going on here ?!?!? maybe that is one of the reasons cause my country is not on tour list ! , people buy that illegal copies (again they were not cdr !!!!!!) instead of original ones and they effect sale numbers to seen low !

I havent posted in a while but I wanted to comment on last weeks show on Dallas, first of all thanks to all the houston jammers who made less boring 8 hours of wait... so, thanks Nicole, Palpatine, Bob and the rest of you (I didnt get all the names, sorry)

the show was pretty good, but what happened when Portnoy threw the cymbal and went out of the stage before thru her eyes? I dont think the drum samples werent supposed to be played there...it seemed like Petrucci wanted to extend the intro by improvising with Jordan....

I hope that Dream Theater would play soon here in Monterrey, because 12 hours of travel are not very fun...we stayed one block away from the bronco bowl in a motel that wasnt that cheap, it was a very awful place...the owner was from india, so imagine a guy like apu from the simpsons who can barely talk in english and imagine us who can barely speak in english trying to communicate...

the star people were kind of funny when the played the first song but by the time they played the second one they were becoming boring already...the fun part was watching palpatine dance to their songs.....by the way, does anyone know where I could find a mp3 of their song "uh ah, sexy" or something like that? the star people seemed to me like the b-52s but they didnt sound like that...music was a little complex but all their lyrics talked about being from the starts and stuff like that...

did anyone took pictures of the show? I would like to get some copies so please let me know.

also does anyone knows what did the band played when Dr evil was on the screens? it seemed like portnoy wanted us to recognize what they were playing but I have no idea...

I thought they were going to do the nightmare cinema because they played that on the soundcheck, have they done it without Derek? at least portnoy played eruption at the end of the show...

thanks to all the houston jammers. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

    Hi there!

I've got two old DT shows as MP3:s, but I don't know where they are from. Or rather... both are mistakenly labelled Hampton Beach 8/4/98. I've checked out the Lines In The Sand tourography but it doesn't hold any info for this date so that can't help me.

The shorter of the shows consist of:

ACOS 1&2 Just Let Me Breathe Take The Time (w/ Hot For Teacher jam) Hollow Years (Mike yells "is everybody high!!!" during section after solo) Caught In A Web Lie Peruvian Skies (w/ Have A Cigar) Pull Me Under Metropolis / Learning To Live / ACOS 7

James mentions the weather/rain, and he's glad people stayed for the day. Plus he says their broadcasting via radio. What is this? Is this the Hampton Beach one from the ELP/DP tour?!? For what I know that was a headlining show, but the set's still just 1:17. It's different however, from when I saw them in LA on the last date of the tour, as I recall. The sound is alright, quite a lot of hiss, but nice drum sound, not the typical "DAT boot sound".

    But then, what is this?!?!

ACOS 1&2 Puppies On Acid Just Let Me Breathe (Mike yells "get your fuckin ass..." during intro) New Millennium 6:00 Under A Glass Moon (with the "swing feel" thing before the 2nd verse) Hollow Years (Mike yells "we love you all!!!" during section after solo) Piano Solo (the Platypus-y one) Lines In The Sand Caught In A Web (with drum solo, no "hear the drummer get...", the end sequence x 3) Peruvian Skies (short doodle before starting, plus Have A Cigar & Enter Sandman bits) Guitar Solo (8:40 long, with Paradigm Shift etc) Pull Me Under Metropolis / Learning To Live / ACOS 7

James says something about them playing on a beach, and that's the last headlining show of the Falling Into Infinity Tour before going with ELP and DP. He says they already recorded the double live album in Europe, so this must be the US. He says it's a tuesday and Hampton Beach 8/4/98 was a tuesday. The show is 1:47 long.

But in that case, what is the first one then? Where did it rain like hell on that tour, and why did James thank them for staying all that long, DT opened on the tour. I'm very confused.

I'm grateful for all help on this!
