    >And I suppose the woman had NO CLUE that cigarettes both 1.) were
    >addictive and 2.) caused cancer. It says right on the cigarette packs
    >that the smokes cause cancer. What right would she have to sue?

Because it would be against FDA regulations. Even the tobacco companies knew
they would be screwed if this got out, they didn't even try to defend it.
They just tried to say that it never happened, that they never knew. As far
as the warning labels go, people complained when those got put on too. Plus,
they've only been on for so long, I don't know about this woman in
particular, but a lot of people got addicted before they had to put the
surgeon general's warning on. Even if they weren't sued by her, they should
    be sued by the FDA.

    >Also, the reason cigarettes are so addictive is because they have a more
    >potent, more addictive form of nicotine sprayed on the leaves AFTER the

    >addicted to cigarettes smoke too much and get cancer as a result.

The corellation I was drawing wasn't between addiction and cancel. The
tobacco companies upped the nicotine by diluting the other ingredients with
chemicals (I think that was it anyway, I know they did something with
chemicals :P ). Those chemicals were added to increase the amount of
nicotine entering the body, which would make people more addicted to
cigarettes. These chemicals are carcinogens. That's the corellation.

For me personally, I'd go with the intro to Fortune in Lies (that riff just kills), JP's solo from LITS which is then echoed by JB singing lyrics to the same melody (In the stream of consciousness...), the opening to the Mirror (Puppies on Acid), the break leading into the solo for Lie which has the same opening riff as the Mirror and the solo that follows it, and finally the first chorus in Home and right after it, where JP plays the riff from Met pt 1. As for why? Well, the solo from LITS is just beautiful, the Mirror and Lie are 3 of my fav DT songs and I love how they're connected musically, and home is the centerpiece of SFAM and just seemd to sum up DT for me. -Mike C.

Bah, what it boils down to is that a) cigarettes are addictive, b) smoking is dangerous to one's health, c) this has been common knowledge for years upon years.

So, basically, if a person starts smoking, they are responsible for their own actions. If they get lung cancer, lose children to SIDS, get emphysema, and stink, they brought it all upon themselves. There are no innocent victims of smoking, save for the people who have no choice but to be around smokers, i.e. smokers' children. If you are a non-smoker and are offended by someone who smokes, too bad. Move. I have a nasty tendency to pick my nose and place the mucus in other people's food. Should I be forced to stop because other people are offended by this? I don't think so. If people don't like it, they don't have to sit near me. -- KorgX3 also publicly sticks his finger in his bellybutton and sniffs it. NP: Savatage - I Am.mp3

    a. Many people do claim that food is addictive and have major problems with their health because of it.

    b. Not only do they up the fat content, they add as many chemicals as they can think of to artificially "improve" the flavor and get you to come back for more.

    > SOOOO the cancer is a direct result of their meddling.

No, the cancer is most likely a direct result of excess smoking.

Everyone should feel free to smoke or eat themselves to death, but they only have themselves to blame. These lawsuits against the tabacco companies are just plain ridiculus.

It's always news when children get killed. God forbid that the media or politicians decide to jump on a bandwagon. After that, it'll be a major news story every time anything happens with a train. Look at all the stories about airplanes we've had recently.

I think my favorites have to be the insane JP solo halfway through Beyond this Life, that always makes me wonder.. (how he can be so amazing!) The first thirty or so seconds and the end of Overture 1928 "Another chance to lift my life, Free the sensation in my heart, To ride the wings of dreams into changing horizons, It brings inner peace within my heart, As i'm lifted from where i've split my life, I hear an innocent voice I hear kindness, beauty and truth..." - Learning to Live The end of Erotomania and the start of Voices the end of Take the Time and i think my most favorite has to be Pretty much all of TDoE Of course there are heaps more that blow my mind (if not all of them) but that would take forever to list!!!

I think there was a question about favorite solos (hey a palendrome!). Mine is definitely the keyboard in TDoE where Jordan breaks into ragtime on crack, that is about the coolest thing I have ever heard. Also as a very very close second, the keyboard/guitar duet in the middle of Lie.

    Hi all

this is a recommendation for all of you who like Chromakey and similar stuff. Go bug your CD dealers to get you a copy of the album "One Of 18 Angels" by the German band "Diary Of Dreams" (Accension Records, EFA 03618-2). I think a suitable description would be melancholy, ambient darkwave. Very nice use of samples and sequencers, searching texts (strange for me to pay attention to lyrics), and some of the songs are almost danceable. The band is essentially Adrian Hates, who used to be with "Garden Of Delight", one of my favourite bands before they split. Well worth looking for. Samples and more information can be found here:

I was at Newbury Comics yesterday picking up transatlantic and ice cycles and i noticed they had a new used cd section. Nothing of interest but I did find a cd from a band called "Destiny's End" that looked vaguely prog and was put out by metal blade. i didn't want to pick it up not knowing who or what it was.. Anyone have any opinions about them? What kinda music is it like etc.

<< I want to know what are the fans favourite moments in any of DT's tunes... and why? For example the blistering solo (One of the all time best ever) in "a fortune in lies" or the engaging, timing wizardry by the ending of erotomania. some of the answers will be most surprising. >> Actually, some of my favorite stuff are the ones that make me the saddest. "Another Day" from I&W and "Through Her Eyes" on SFAM. I had a sister pass away from cancer a few years ago, and I really feel I can identify with what JP was going through in "Another Day". Even though "Through Her Eyes" is fictional, I think it captured the emotion and feelings about losing loved ones very well. Its always nice to be able to connect with your favorite musicians on a more personal level. Of course, I love the end of "Peruvian Skies" also. I think its one of the coolest sounding pieces of music they've ever done, really powerful!!! Oh well, enough of my yackin'...

Nah, they never listen. You just have to keep playing those DT cd's everytime she's near and maybe one day you might get lucky and she'll start begging for more..hah !

I'm not sure where that part was, I never remember songs names ! But I had a hunch it was supposed to be funny, 'cos I never thought they're making music too seriously. And when looking at those guys on stage they were joking all the time, you couldn't have taken them too seriously anyways !
