I think it's more about being FUN than "funny". These guys definitely
take their music seriously, but they obviously have a BLAST doing it,

    Two questions...
    1) Is anybody planning on recording the Orlando HOB DT show thats going to
be cybercast on April 1st (this Saturday) on the internet? If so, I am VERY
interested in buying a copy. E-mail me at Ultraking@AOL.Com

    2) Even though they were kinda lame, does anybody know of any web pages with
pics or sound clips of the Star People that opened for DT? I just wanted to
show some friends how wierd they were. Let me know!
    Have a great week!

My suggestions, Spock's Beard and the Par Lindh Project.
You can find Spock's stuff at www.spocksbeard.net and the
Par Lindh Project at The Laser's Edge - www.lasercd.com
BTW, the Par Lindh Project has a female vocalist on the one
    disc I've heard, Mundus Incompertus.

    Hope that helped.

Nope... I have a 13 year old Pit. He's NEVER bitten anyone.
I had the joy of living through the Pit Bull hype when my dog was in his
prime. My dog was treated like a land shark. The city was trying to
impose restrictions on a dog that had never done anything wrong.
It came down to a petition amongst neighbors who actually knew the
dog to stop the city's bullshit. The mayor's daughter/Newspaper delivery
person also signed the petition. She faced the foul beast every morning. :)
That was a 7 month ordeal that cost me several hundred dollars simply
because of a bunch of ignorant petty-bureaucrats *thought* they knew
what was "BEST." Fucking retards. Dude... The stories I could tell you.

The most dangerous thing about my Pit Bull is the methane.

I'm one of those people who thinks there is a time and a place to play a song you like for someone you like. It's pretty rare and the song can't be most things. My g/f doesn't like the DT I've played for her (except for PMU, oddly enough, which she's way too young to have listened to on the radio back in the day b/c *I'M* too young to remember it; and I don't), and that's too bad. I think she'd probably like "Speak To Me" and maybe "Cover My Eyes", but I'm not sure of much else. Ah well, it's really not right to force your music on other people (I don't think so anyway, so I don't), so she can listen to whatever she wants. Funny post you made tho...

hi! it's been a while since i posted a message on the jam... probably many of you will think of me as a "newbie" heh... Anyway, I see we finally have some females on the list (not that I hate you, guys :-) and "the prog-witch project" is still rollin'... Anyways, I've bought alot cds in the past 2 months, most of which were already mentioned on the jam (Pain of Salvation "OHBtCL", Control Denied "tFAoE", Conception "In Your Multitude" & "Parallel Minds", Fates Warning "Parellels", Gordian Knot etc.) and my prog-department is slowly (but safely) growing. 15 more days until I hear and see mr. Vai playing "For the Love of God" and 72 days 'till Iron Maiden's concert... with Bruce and Adrian! Unfortunately, I won't be seeing DT... they're nowhere near me (I have to pass through 3 countries to get to the closest gig)... so, no DT for me... :-((((. Btw, does anyone know of a on-line music-store which has Sean Malone's Cortlandt in stock? I still haven't found one...

Best DT moments... "I'm lying here in bed, swear my skin is inside out... " part of "Voices" Chorus of "One last time" (preferably the same chorus in "Finally Free" - sounds kinda more dramatic). "I know it's easier to walk away than to look it in the eye..." part of "Surrounded" hmmm... come to think of it, there's so much more... :-))). LSoaD, Space-Dye Vest, ACoS etc.

that's all from me... for know... :-)

I had a chance to see Destiny's End when they toured with Iced Earth last year. THey're fronted by former Hellstar vocalist James Rivera (who has recently been trying to revive the Houston metal scene). It's pretty straight forward power metal with fantasy type lyrics. Not half bad stuff, though.

on the Sci FI genre I also recommend "City of Lost Children" the french movie directed by the same guy that did alien 4 (city of lost children is my favorite sci fi movie and I didnt like alien 4)

Destiny's End sounds a lot like Helstar, mostly because they have the same vocalist, James Rivera. The music is thrashy and the tone dark, but the vocals are in the upper register...I guess you could call them late-80s thrash with a doomy 90s edge. Some people find their music a bit "same-y" but it's not a bad disk. I am sure they have a web site with samples...

I doubt it's sold even 250,000 in the US, but I really would like to know.

Nope, not even close. The last I had heard it hadn't even hit 100,000 yet (as of 2 months ago I believe). Sucks don't it? I realize DT is never gonna have a huge album or a big hit, but they should have a fan base large enough to sell 1 mil every time out. It's just a shame that so many rock stations don't play them becasue (I'm assuming) of the prog rock label they have. Prog rock isn't en vogue now so I guess these damn stations are afraid of playing them. The best I guess we can do is all influence the people we know into liking DT and hope it grows from there. -Mike C.

    2 things here.

First, there was a thread a little while back about the band Tall Stories. Now, I remember a song that my local station used to play (circa 91?) that was pretty cool I thought. But I can't remember what it was called. Does anyone have any idea what this song might be and if there's an mp3 of it anywhere? I am aware of how vague this is but I figured I'd give it a shot!

Second, when I play guitar it always takes my hands a while to loosen up. are there any stretching exersises or warm up exercises I can do before I play so that my fingers will be loose? Thanks! -Mike C.

Is the current THE single imported from japan, or germany? I heard another version will come out later, from Japan, with another track included? Maybe they were tlaking about the current single. Whats the track listing?

Fan club CD: How do I get the video to run on the computer? I put it in, open up the D drive, and all it lists are audio files. Also, did anyone notice the hidden track? I've had it almost a month and just noticed the hidden sound clip on track 10.

This still doesn't sound right. According to the last Soundscan figures I saw (courtesy of the metal-sludge.com site), SfaM had sold around 60,000 copies, and at that point was selling about 10,000 copies a month (which, for a touring band that isn't heavily pushed by their label, points to substantial sales as a result of touring).

If it's anywhere -near- a million copies I'd be surprised.....happy as shit, but REALLY surprised. :)

My favorite song/solo is any song that doesn't include Derek. In fact, his sounds and playing were horrendous!! Has anyone else heard the beginning of Love Lies Bleeding/Funeral for a Friend by Sir Elton John?? The opening with the ARP 2600 is sonically stunning and to this day, may never have been recorded better. Derek's attempt to make it sound similar is embarrassing. I loved everything w/ Kevin, but couldn't believe what happened after he left. It's a good thing Jordan is in the band to save the day. FII is like Yes' Tormato album -you wish that it never happened!! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

What kinda music is it > like etc. I'd take a pass on it. I bought it for the same reasons (vaguely proglooking/ Metal Blade) but it is not Prog. Kinda generic metal. Honestly, I don't remember much as I only listened to it twice before I shelved it.

Two other cd's I just bought I would recommend. Vision Divine-s/t Looking at the cover, I would guess it was Death/Black Metal, but it is really good progmetal, kinda SymphX/Stratovari-ish. The singer and production aren't the best, but all around a good disc. Bonus Points: By-the-book cover of Europe's The Final Countdown.

Majestic-Abstract Symphony Wow. If lots of double bass drum and Kuprij-esque keys are your thing then this cd is for you. Very classically influenced. More Power than Prog.. Lots of great guitar/key solo trade-offs and together. Bonus Points: Using the lyric "light fuse and get away".

I think both are reviewed on the Barcode site as well, but I can't seem to connect to them right now...

and I thought I was doing a good job with old gems (mostly digging up classic b/w horror). Interesting choices. My guess is you've got something better than a Blockbuster near you ;)

Indeed The album is the side project of Rhapsody singer Fabio Lione and Labyrinth guitarist Olaf Thorsen, even though the booklet might say otherwise :) Is pretty good overall fast powermetal stuff with some really neat 70's moog keyboard solo's that I love.
