I'm bored, so I'm gonna tell everyone to go see In Flames, Nevermore, and
Shadows Fall when they come to your area. Here's a quasi-review:
Just saw them in Worcester MA, and was blown away. As someone who is only
really familiar with Nevermore's material (as well as the new In Flames
album), I was really impressed. Warrel Dane was in top (although
inebriated) form, even though he had a slight lyric mishap during
Narcosynthesis. Lots of pulling people up onstage, stagediving, etc.
Here's Nevermore's(disappointingly short) setlist. They only got about 45
minutes, and I think they made the most of it:

    ****set list****

    ****set list****

    ****set list****

    ****set list****

    (there, is that enough warning?)

    Narcosynthesis
    We Desintegrate
    Inside Four Walls
    The Seven Tongues of God
    The River Dragon Has Come
    Fault of the Flesh
    The Politics of Ecstacy
    Sound of Silence

Yeah, so the set was too short, but it was still good. Their touring
guitarist (Curran Murphy) was pretty good, and even could play the harmony
parts on River Dragon. And he had the prerequesit long hair...not quite as
long as Warrel's, but that's asking a lot. In Flames was also great,
playing mostly songs off of Colony and Clayman. Since I only am familiar
with Clayman, the only songs I recognized were Bullet Ride, Pinball, Only
For the Weak, Clayman, and (possibly...I'm not sure if they actually played
this as I left before the last song) Swim.

One problem was that the venue (The Palladium) is a converted theater, and a
lot of the sound got lost in the cavernous room. Couldn't really hear the
bass, and guitar solos (like at many shows) were sometimes hard to hear.
But all and all the sound was fairly good. In Flames and Nevermore shared
equipment (including amps and drum set). In Flames played through 5150s,
and I believe Nevermore used Rocktrons. I could be wrong...

All in all a great show. And t-shirts were refreshingly cheap!!! Only
$20!!! Unlike a certain tour in recent memory that t-shirts cost $30....

There is a neat little program that tricks the application, that is on time trial, into believing that it's still the date
when it's completely active in this case. Here's the addie: www.multimania.com/~wblum The program's called MicroBest
    Cracklock.
And of course you can try to find a crack for your fave shareware program at: http://astalavista.box.sk and maybe
    www.games4all.ru

    |A great shareware audio editing program is Cool Edit 2000, but it only

    |at one given time (like, you can use noise reduction and save, or you can
    |use reverb and save, or you can use noise reduction AND reverb but NOT be
    |able to save, etc.).

    Hey folks:

Today I was trapped in a car on I-95 heading back to school, with the radio
station broadcasting the Redskins game (don't ask me who won or taunt me,
ain't my boys). At halftime I suddenly found myself paying attention and
tapping my feet... SFaM was playing as background music for the announcers
at that point. I can't quite place which part of it it was - not being
helped by playing it in the background for myself now) but it was without
vocals. I know that narrows it down a lot. :) Anyway, I thought it was
damn cool; unfortunately, the driver was clueless.

    two cents poorer,
    Alex

    Hey Alex,

They play SFaM as background for the football shows on that station(WJFK) all
the time. I was coming home from the game today(Skins suck, btw) and I think
the locker room interviews after the game had TDoE playing in the background.
You probably heard Overture 1928 at that time of the game. The people that
pick the music beds over there definitely have some good taste. They play
rocking stuff all the time, but yes, it's only the instrumental parts. KJLB's
vocals might be a bit distracting in the background, eh? :)

The Spam-Jam is getting unbearable. I know of three people that
have unsubscribed for this reason alone. If this continues, I'll be
joining them. I THOUGHT this list was moderated and filtered for
this garbage. If something isn't done, this will be the death of the Jam...

Man My mom started buying skim milk, and she screwed up and bought 1 percent lowfat, and ITS SO GOOD. I am having a glass right now, it rules. I like milk, esp cold milk, with blue chips ahoy.

The jam needed a crazy post like this. I hate this time when nothings going on. The dvd hype hasn't started really, no tour no shows no nothing. Hell I am going to houston on Dec16th for a show cause we here in new orleans have nothing coming AT ALL. (excpet limp biscuits)

You now all those who complain about the spammers right here are pissing in the wind, the only way you'll get your displeasure noticed by he who matters, aka Skadz (list moderator) is to email him personaly (skadz@dreamt.org) so he can do something about it.

    Just a thought.....

I haven't seen anyone mention Aghora here yet, featuring Cynic/Gordian Knot members Sean Malone and Sean Reinert, it's similar to those bands, with a loverly female singer.

I didn't like her singing much. Frankly, it sounded better to me in the compressed MP3 files on their site than on the CD itself. I think she was mixed wrong for my tastes. I'd have to give the disc a second listen to remember exactly what I didn't like, but I'm too busy listening to Pain of Salvation and a really cool random band called Without Warning to bother playing a disc I didn't like too much.

    Hi Adrian,

I know I'm not 'the Andy' you were looking for -- but I've seen Vai a hand full of times. Twice on the G3 tour and Three times on his Ultra Zone tour...

]From what I experienced, he does a different Mix everytime -- but it's mainly the same setlist with different songs put in here and there, like DT does from what I've heard.

I'd tell you to just go and sit close to the stage so if he starts playing the same stuff as the previous night you can yell out other songs. Ha.

I got him to play half of Touching Tongues when he was in VA on the Ultra Zone tour. Just shouted it out during one of those between songs dead period where oddly, not many people were screaming. Ha. When I caught him at G3 in FL he brought out his gorgeous Carvin Acoustic to do Fire Garden Suite and a few people in the crowd were chanting 'Recue Me or Bury me" and he played the intro.

    Always fun. What a performer.

have fun, what ever you decide to do, andy

Still dying to see "Kill The Guy With The Ball" played Live.

oh, this band is just amazing!

their debut album is pretty high on my all time greatest list...

I'd like to recommend the band for anyone who like the two mentioned bands, as well to anyone who'd like to check out something completely new.

Two masters on 7-strings guitars, a genius on bass, a monster on drums, and an angel on vocals. And the music varies from extremely heavy parts to relaxing, delightful patterns, often in the same song.

I just can't wait for their next disc!

    Check 'em out at www.aghora.org
