The End provides excellent service..I ordered the new Ayreon cds from them
on a Saturday, and received them the following Wednesday..and if I'm not
mistaken, all of their cds are $10, including S&H.

Okay, here's a suggestion. remember that neato classical piano
version of Ytsejam that's supposed to be playable by one superhuman?
Why not let Jordan take a stab at that all on his lonesome? Since YJ
is very much absent from the tour, and that cheesy Kurzweil demo (did
he set it to "Rhumba" in the last show?) is very played out, this
    would be cool to hear.

Also, see if you can name where I got this little gem:

There were actually two Queen tribute albums. The first is called
Dragon Attack (1997) and is your general tribute-type material
(although I still don't have this one). The second is called Tie
Your Mix Down (2000, a play on the phrase "tie your mother down")
and is the afforementioned mix of rap and metal. It's kinda funny,
actually, much like the rap remix of Rush's Tom Sawyer. James
LaBrie does the vocals on 2 of the Tie Your Mix Down songs. Be sure
to listen with an open mind. :)

I've been told that the Summer fanzine has been sent to the
mailinghouse in Holland. Please remember that Holland is an ocean
away from me, and it's always completely up to Holland as to what
the DTIFC does. "I'm just a pansy." ;)

Now it's time for a question from me. Does anyone have a FULL
recording of James singing the Journey song "Separate Ways" in ANY
format? It was from some 80s music tribute album. I'd love to buy
the album, but I think it's out of print. :P Thanks in advance.

Is it just me, or has DT gotten more good press since SFAM than the two years between FII and SFAM? Also, it seems prog and hair metal (good and the bad) are coming back into some favor as guilty pleasures. It's like, "Okay, we distanced ourselves from it... now that it's far away, it's kinda fun." Prog rock is mentioned everywhere now, and not as a bash. APC is part prog art rock according to an AP review of a concert; the reporter didn't even qualify that with "but luckily there's no self-indulgent solos" -- the point of the article was to emphasize their intelligence and musical/lyrical complextiy (relative to 98.6% of pop musically, relative to just about all rock lyrically -- they're fucking awesome d00d... l33t r0<3r2... err... whatever).

Anyway, it looks like, if these bands like DT and whoever stay true and enthusiastic, they may enjoy a sort of rennaisance as the public begins to warm to metal and complexity again. And I'll truly buy into that as soon as the Blazers sign Chris Mullin.

    It could happen.

Actually his first name is Kevin and they didn't want two KEVINS in the band. And he sang in the barbershop quartet and played drums in another band (I think) this is all in the FAQ aNd on the webpage. ;)

Yes, the song is there and the performance is ok, including:

    * You Not Me; * Speak to Me; * New Millennium; * Trial of Tears; * Perfect Strangers/Nightmare Cinema; * Anna Lee; * Metropolis (including Nicky Lemons and the Migraines' "I Don't Like You");

Here it is. :-) I'm open to offers. :-) Artistic Death/Black Metal preferred, but other (obscure) things will do (even some Power Metal).

Has anyone bought the new Tap DVD yet? Maybe someone could post a small review of it. The reason I ask is that I already own the Criterion Collection version, and was wondering if it's worth getting the new one for it's extras. The Criterion version is very good and has two commentary audio tracks, as well as over an hour of unused footage. I can't wait for DT's DVD also!

Supposedly. Whoever told you this must have some serious hearing problems. There is not an ounce of rap on this tribute (I ASSume you're talking about Dragon Attack). Just a look at the cover - with its list of musicians - should appease you: JP, JLB, Impelliteri, Yngwie (I think), Anthrax dudes (who actually kill the song "It's Late" - I have never in my life heard a worse cover than this atrocity.), the Kulick brothers and a plethora of other hard rock/metal heavies.

    >I haven't summoned > the courage to slide this into the player yet. Anyone heard it?

As can be deducted from my statement above, yes I have. Don't fear it, play it. It's not a spectacular album, but it has some good covers and prety good musicianship.

Very interesting thread you have started Carlos...

To me (opinion opinion) I don't personally care for Kevin Moore's solo material. It's very spacey and very 'mellow'... a far cry from what he played with DT for years. It isn't bad - I just don't care for it personally. I'm so glad that Kevin finished up Awake before departing to his softer solo style.

Of course, i mean everythings a matter of personal taste. I for one enjoy Kev's new stuff A LOT. Different strokes for different folks, as with everything in life (almost). Although well I have to admit im one of the few who even prefer Derek's style to jordan's. I hardly listen to "prog" anymore, basically just DT, Fates (which have gone in a very interesting direction themselves IMO) and Spocks Beard. Im listening to a lot of heavier stuff (Opeth, My Dying Bride, Meshuggah, In Flames, some black metal etc.) and lighter stuff (Gathering, newer anathema/tiamat etc) I just feel ive grown out of the more "pompous" prog stylings like lots of solos, neoclassical, operatic bla bla. While im not ready to "give up" on the genre itself, mainly becaus i simply LOVE dt, and because of fresh sounding stuff like what fates is doing and Spock's beard which is like retro but fresh sounding :P . Ive said it before and ill say it again (ferris?) one of the most progressive and incredible albums ive heard in a LONG time has been Opeth's Still Life. No meandering solos, no operatic vocals, just plain tight musicianship, great melodies, and just ...its overwhelming.

Hey everybody I was just wondering if someone could tell me another place other than Napster (my work has a firewall that won't let me connect) that I can download mp3's (as easy as Napster is). I've gotten on scour.com, but personally I think it blows. Apologies in advance for anybody who doesn't. I would appreciate it.

    Thanks, Vin
