When MP was 16 (17?) he was in class and a teacher was giving a lesson
on the concept of Carpe Diem, cherishing time and expressing all your
feelings to those you love. He went home that night, gave his mother a
hug and a kiss and told her he loved her. After that he went out with
"the guys", and that was the last tme he ever saw her, as she died in a
    plane crash that night.

    Hi all,

Sorry for the off topic message but it is time that I cleaned out my

much anymore. So I have put a bunch of stuff up on ebay for everyone
to look at. Please check the stuff out at:

It's great to hear that young(er) people are listening to King's X too. Especially the older KX stuff. As far as the religious overtones in OMH go, they are multifaceted. Doug's vocal style in the song is very southern gospel sounding. Of course, KX has been pinned with the "Christian" band label for years (although, they seem to have left that behind now). In spite of the label, this is the only KX song that actually mentions the name of a higher power ("Lord, I hear music, music over my head"). Check it out...of all the KX songs with obvious religious overtones, this is the only one with the word Lord in it (or God, or Jesus or anything else related). Doug's own explination of the song's lyrics is that he remembers when he was a kid, hearing his grandmother praying in song at night in the room above where he slept. Guess, I assumed most jammers had heard that story, when I should not have. That was mainly what I was thinking of with the religious overtones statement. Anybody else see that girl on Dr. Laura singing "Over My Head"?

I just remember I hadn't shared any thoughts with you about the simply best ever Nightwish concert I was at on the 15th of this month. The venue was the legendary Tavastia Club in Helsinki, in which Nightwish has performed numerous times before too. Since Jarmo, among others had told me that it would be likely for fans to meet Nightwish at the gig, I took my Wishmaster sleeve with me for the band to sign. But first to the actual gig:

Just minutes before the gig started I was drinkin beer on the sofa right next to the stage. Then I felt I had to visit the toilet bloody quickly. I did, and once I came back, something unbelievable happened. I first found myself on the front row, leaning against the barrier. Then the band came onstage and I felt terrible pressure on my back and I could hardly breath. One security guard noticed this and pulled me by my hands to the other side of the barrier, and, believe or not, picked me up on the stage! There I was, sitting on a guitarcase, 1,5 from the band members!!!!! I had a great view and I can tell you that the stage sound is quite soft to your ears compared to the sound among the audience. I saw the whole gig from the stage and the best thing after that is that once the gig was over, a bunch of people, including me, were still waiting for the band to come out and sign autographs. 10 minutes later, this happened and I talked to the whole band and now my Wishmaster cd sleeve is decorated by all the bandmembers autographs! Totally a great gig, that will stay with me for a long time. The only regret is that I had no camera with me but the next time I will!

Hope you enjoyed the review! Risto

I guess the religious overtone seemed the stuff Doug says about his grandma. I don't know the studio version, I only have the concert one from their BEST OF and this version has much soul too. :( Scary stuff. And near the end he starts speaking to the audience, explaining the song I guess. And one of the things he says is that he was raised from his grandma, and even though she acted like a very big Christian she never said she loves him and said awful things to him that nobody loves him and traumatized the kid (himself). Really awful things to say to a kid. :(

Wow, hold on, I have that whole part in text. Hold on .... here it is. Really deep stuff. :(

    ====================================================

And this is a song about my grandma. She raised me from a child. She's a very religious lady, she went to church every night, she read the Bible at the time yeaaah. And late at night she'd be in a room singing and dancing and shouting, carrying it out like she used to do. Aaaaa my grandma, I remember yeah. And I'd be in my room feelin' so alone, wondering why my mother left and my daddy never came around. And my grandma she never said "I love you"! She calls herself a Christian and she never said I love you. She said "Nobody wants you, nobody needs you, nobody loves you" ooooohhh And I grew up so confused , ooooohh yeah.

Now I don't say this to feel sorry for me, but I wanna say this. Can you listen to me for a second?

If you plan on having kids, if you have children and you plan on having kids, make sure that your kids know that you love them more than anything in the whole wide world. More than anything in the whole wide world! No matter who they are, no matter what they look like, what they do, what kind of rock 'n roll they listen to and they wear tatoos, ooooohh Lord, yeaaah

'Cause if you don't, if you don't show your children love, when they grow up, they will grow up fu***d up, and I know what I'm talking about, I had to work it out, some of you know what I'm talking about, somebody say YEAH, somebody say YEAH, somebody say YEAH, c'mon and say YEAH, somebody say YEAH, somebody say YEAH, I know I can hear your YEAH, ooooohhh ====================================================

Hey people! I recently got the latest cd from Empty Tremor, Eros and Thanatos, as well as the new Spock's Beard album V. First, the ET album rules. These guys have top notch musicianship and write excellent songs. The style of the songs is very similar to that of the first album, which is very similar to Dream Theater. Second, the latest SB album just kicks major ass. I believe this is the definitive SB album. SB is better than ever on this album. There are no songs on this album that could be considered as fillers; they are all excellent. This album, after just a few listens, has definitely taken over the top spot in my SB preference list. There are 2 very long and progressive songs, as well as other shorter rockin tunes. The prog factor in this album was definitely turned up a bit by Neal, making this album sound a lot like Transatlantic (which sounds like SB but a bit proggier). What impressed me the most was that there even is a heavy guitar part in the first song!!! That's a first! Well, get both albums if you can, you won't regret it.

What impressed ME most about this album is that they use horns! Trumpets, saxes, and a French horn... it sounds awesome. I don't know why people don't like this album. I've heard comments that it sounds more like Beware of Darkness, and that it's a step backwards for SB, but I don't believe so. I think this is an incredible album.

Here's my guess - and I say this because I seem to remember hearing this somewhere before - I think the song "Over My Head" is actually a Negro spiritual that Kings X re-made. Perhaps someone could look that up for us to be sure....

This is out-f***in-rageous for a bootleg... I wouldn't pay that price when I know I could trade for it instead - professional covers and booklets or not.
