Here's my tried-and-tested solution for paying off your debts:

    1. Go to the pub on a Friday night and get quite drunk.
    2. Walk home from the pub.
    3. Get attacked by a couple of nasty teenagers - suffer a bruised
        nose and broken front tooth.
    4. Report the assault to the police.
    5. Go to the hospital to find out if your nose is broken.
    6. Get your dentist to fix your broken tooth, and keep the receipt.
    7. File an application for compensation from the Criminal Injuries
        Compensation Authority.
    8. Have your application rejected, due to your being "uncooperative"
        with the police enquiry.
    9. Appeal again the rejection, pointing out that you did in fact
fully cooperate with the police at all times.
    10. Receive a cheque for £1200.
    11. Pay off your credit card. :-)

    noooooooooooooo

    I didn't mean a portable MP3 player, those are a waste.

i meant a portable cd PLAYER that reads mp3. So just plug it into your car system and pop in a cd burned with mp3's and voila..

I do; I use three. I have my work e-mail (prometheus.com), and my school e-mail (gwu.edu) both forward to one mailbox: rpark@space-dye.com. Also, when I have to give my e-mail address to companies, I do so using aliases at this domain (ibm@space-dye.com, microsoft@space-dye.com, etc.) so that I can filter their messages out if needed.

Often I try to send a message to a list, and find that it's not allowed because that's not the address I subscribed using the list. I have one mailing list that I can't get off because neither the owner nor I can figure out what e-mail address I used to subscribe!!

Nonetheless, I'm completely willing to put up with those inconveniences because I understand the rationale behind it.

Obligatory DT Content: The DVD ROCKS!!! ;-)

No, no, no, there are car MP3 stereos out there that replace your current stereo, but they play regular CDs, CD-Rs,CD-RWs, and MP3 loaded discs. So you could carry around an entire bands collection on one disc. Take DT. I have every CD ripped to MP3s + the 99 fan club disc. This is 71 songs, with room for about 30 more songs. So instead of carrying around 9 CDs you have 1. I prefer, I haven't seen the models yet, but they were working on them, car stereos that allow you to hook up a hard drive for unlimited storage(via USB I think, and no CDs to carry around. I am working on filling my 40 gig up right as we speak.

No can do on my in-dash CD player......... It would be cool if we had RCA plugs on the front of CD players that we could plug external devices to.

While I'm desperately waiting for my my copy of Metropolis DVD to arrive, I got the Nightwish DVD today.

I you like the band even a little, I recommend this DVD. It's awesome. It really captures the live performance! I've been to two of their shows and this DVD shows what it's like.

Tarja rocks! I heard rumors about their live shows before I experienced my first one at Ruisrock festival in Turku (Finland) last summer. Still it was amazing how much they went over my expectations. The second show was at rock club Tavastia in Helsinki (Finland), just a little after they shot this DVD. It was equally great.

So if you like Nightwish even a bit, make sure you get this DVD.

well... to play devil's advocate for a second, it would be foolhardy to subscribe on three accounts, because then you'd be GETTING the jam on all three accounts as well. When the traffic is high (I'm on non-digest mode... digests suck. ;), the amount of mail can get unbearable. I can't imagine how bad it would be if I got the Jam on three separate accounts (but then again, I only have one). From Skadz's tone, I'm guessing he's tried this in the past, and had a lot of complaints.

So JP's website said they started recording for a new album on March 12... is this accurate? and if so, how come noone's posted about it? Man I remember when they went in the studio for SFAM.... What do you guys think the new album will sound like? I'm expecting/hoping for more input from Jordan, possibly some lyrics.

yeah its true...regarding the album sound this is what mike said :

"To give you an idea of where I want to take this record, this is the stuff I brought in this time around: (Metallica - Master Of Puppets, Tool - Aenima, Radiohead - OK Computer, Pantera - Vulger Display Of Power, U2 - Actung Baby, Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral, Soundgarden - Superunknown......and John Petrucci brought in some Bartok and Rage Against The Machine"

Needless to say im very excited about it!

It will be interesting to see if the spam filters work but I'm not holding my breath. My experience with spam filters has been that they work some of the time, but not all of the time. I feel that if the filters don't restrict 90% or more of the spam (maybe 1 or 2 spams per week) then we should go to restricting the list to subscribers. I prefer the principle of allowing anonymous postings so that band members and others can post without revealing their email addresses, but at this point the spam problem is starting to override that principle in my mind. Anyone who posts to the list from multiple accounts (or anonymous accounts) and isn't subscribed from them all, please speak up now. I somehow doubt that there are all that many. If there are only a couple then it may be reasonable to remove spam at their expense. Let's give the spam filters a few weeks to see how they work and then reconsider our options.

Yeah I got the Nightwish DVD 2 weeks ago, I am still waiting for my DT DVD from amazon.com.

Yes it is awesome, I saw Nightwish play at last years Tuska festival and the DVD is way better, not only does it contain a killer live performance, but all the other extra stuff on it make it really great. The backstage footage is very funny.

    > So if you like Nightwish even a bit, make sure you get this DVD.

The DT DVD is going to have to be something very special to top this :)
