I just finished watching Metropolis 2000: Scenes From New York, and all I
can really say is, "DUDE!" Seriously, I answered the phone a minute ago,
and it was my brother who is at work, and he asked how it was. All I could
say for about 1 minute was "dude....oh man....dude....It was fuckin
awesome....dude...etc."
If you've seen either of DT's other videos, just let me say that this one
tops both of em by far. Everytime there was a "Hey, look how fast my hands
move here" moment, the camera was right there, when normally there would be
a guitar solo, and the camera is pointed at the drummer playing a 4/4 beat
or something equally dumb.
I cried at 2 points in the DVD so far, and I haven't even watched the bonus
footage yet. (and yes, I'm aware that I'm a big wuss for crying while
watching a concert DVD)
The 1st part that got me was during "The Spirit Carries on" at the end when
the choir jumps in and that Theresa chick starts wailing her lungs out. I
got solid goosebumps, and the next thing I knew, I had tears in my eyes.
The 2nd part, (and this kinda surprised me) was during Finally Free...I
don't wanna piss people off and ruin anything if you haven't seen it yet, so
all I'm gonna say, is that they have movie footage during the part with the
gunshots and the "open your eyes victoria" part, and even though the acting
was quite terrible, something about it just made me start bawling like a
manic-deppressive who forgot to take her meds.
I'll just end by saying that if you don't have this DVD yet, and you even
remotely like DT, GO BUY IT RIGHT NOW....unless you don't have a DVD
player...then all I have to say is, neener, neener, neener! ;-p
OK...I gotta go watch the bonus footage now, so talk to ya later folks. :-D

Agree completely. I pretty much refuse to participate in anything that's
not done via email. And g) "email can be filtered".
It's possible to get most web-based thingies converted to email on the
fly, but it's a total fucking pain in the ass.

I have 2 CDs from Ark and they are pretty good. I like "Burn the Sun"
better than their other one.

Dude, I almost creamed my pants when I read that. They'd better book some northeast dates - preferably upstate NY (but seriously, I think we all know what the chances of a decent show taking place upstate are). If not, I guess I'll have to do some driving. :-)

cdconnection.com claims to have it in stock. Sometimes their stock status claims are not accurate, but it's worth a shot.

It may be a joke, i mean, i dont think they would purposedly add something like that just to spite him, specially since james la brie has been using him for recording vocals for the last disc (IIRC) and for the mullmuzzler stuff!

No multiple takes at all. What you see is what you get. I don't think the band could have handled having to come back out for a second take of anything.

they're probably referring to the M2 version they did in '96, the 30 minute version that would have gone onto FII if not for the tidal wave of ass-bangers the label enlisted to gangbang that album.

Also, as announced on the MP.com site, Mike P. will be handling the drumming chores during Petrucci's set. Dave Larue will be playing bass.
Naturally it won't come anywhere near here. :p

Hey, I dont know if this has been mentioned, missed a few ytsejams, but Derek Sherinian's Planet X will be touring all over Australia with Tony McAlpine and of course our own Virgil Donati this June. Virgil is doing some drum clinic stuff in Melbourne too. Awsome! This winter is looking good for metal - Cradle of Filth tomorrow!! Pantera in May!! And seeing Vanishing Point and 15 other bands on Saturday!! Awsome! Already seen the Steve Morse clinic and Deep Purple this year. What the hell's going on?! BTW, any fans of the John Butler Trio? Great great stuff!
