Moreover, at the Savatage/FW show here Glenn Harveston of Progpower USA
said flat-out that SG will -never- tour....based on the reasonably
handsome offer he made them to play at Progpower. :)

You mean SCOTT, Right? It's very difficult for Chris to go to 3 G3 shows in California, since that's like 3000 miles away.

Could not agree with you more. When you see a rock show, you know what you're in for. I know what I'm in for when I catch DT in Wisconsin and then Chicago... same exact show. Yadda yadda!

    Point taken and noted.

I know it's abooot the music first - I won't argue that. And for the sake of argument, let's throw my "jokes" "setlists" and "crowd interactions" comments out. My whole point was just that he came off going thru the motions as everything was the same to these eyes and ears. (My specifically bringing up how his in between comments were exactly the same was just to emphasize why I felt this way).

    > Bah. Nice. You only LOOK 17, Scott. You don't have to ACT it. Hehehe

Heh heh - thanx for the (backhanded) compliment! ;-) :-p

I > think you're picking and choosing who you're going to allow to bore you. :)

You make a good point - it could be me. The only thing is, I don't recall being in a crappy mood whatsoever - I was totally thrilled to see the show each night - especially in LA with the prospect of special guests appearing for the end jam. So in this case, I don't think it was my state of mind. The only thing I can imagine is that my expectations were a bit too high for Vai having heard all I had but not having seen him previously. Plus also the fact that I have seen DLR (in 91) and knowing that he showed Vai the ropes with regards to showmanship, that may have been a factor - I dunno. All I do know is that while I realize that parts of it were strictly *for show* I was not turned off by it like some people I know, who referred to it as "pure cheese"

    > Again, I am inclined to believe, hate me if you will, that you must be a > G (as in Guitarist hehehe) to understand everything that goes on in a Vai > set.

This is true - I am not a guitarist and don't know jack squat about playing one, so perhaps there was some slight improv going on between each show. All I know is that it wasn't noticeable enough to me to hear it.

    >> On a little side note - Chris, are you coming to NAMM this year? > > Waiting to hear from Smutpants (Jeff Storck... the dude I went with the > last 2 years).

Gimme a heads up and lemme know when you find out.

------------ Rob Denni chimes in: > Chris brags consistently that he went > to 3 G3 shows in California.

First off, it's SCOTT and sorry dude, but I was not bragging in the least bit. If I came off that way, I apologize, but as anyone who knows me knows, I am not the bragging type.

    > Some of us > have lives and live too far away from most of the tour > to make it practicle to go to multiple shows.

Ah, so now I have no "life," eh?

And with regards to my going to multiple shows, having moved to So. Cal does make it easy for me to see multiple shows - so am I not to make comments, comparing one show to another if I happen to see more than one show, just because someone else hasn't? If anything I'd think some people would like to hear how the shows compare - I know I for one like to - especially if (for whatever reason) I am not able to see a specific show or can only catch one.

    > Second, > if I could go to more than one show on a tour, it > would not bother me to see the exact same show.

Do you read my posts? As I stated PREVIOUSLY, I have seen Rush at multiple shows on the same tour and they have played the same exact setlist. I have not complained - why? Because each show has a special feel to it - I don't come away from the show feeling like they are on autopilot - with Vai I did. I said that numerous times in my posts - read them before you respond.

    > If > you don't want the same show from the same ppl, start > going to jazz shows or stop going to multiple shows > period.

Again, READ MY POSTS before you make any comments - because apparently you missed this in my last post: >>PS If nothing else, I guess I won't see Vai at multiple shows in the future!
