You don't like 70's prog but like Kansas? Uh, Kansas is 70's prog.
And honestly, calling bands like Shadow Gallery or Symphony X more
prog than old Genesis...sorry I don't follow that. Transatlantic
wasn't trying to sound old. I think you mistake that progmetal is
progressive music. Not true. Spock's Beard, Echolyn, Iluvatar, and
Flower Kings are all bands that hold up the traditional progressive
flag. I suppose we didn't need the "what's prog?" debate again, huh?
Sorry about bringing it back. Oh well. Just trying to understand.

    >>I do NOT like Transatlantic

Oh, sorry about that. I wasn't trying to compare them. I was trying
to provide a sort of guide of what I like and do not like. My tastes
lean in the SFaM/Symphony X direction and away from Transatlantic-
type stuff because, IMO, Transatlantic didn't sound like it was
trying to create NEW progressive music, but rather that it was
    celebrating the OLD stuff.

I love progressive music (particularly the symphonic metal stuff),
but I like it to be reaching for the future. So a lot of stuff that
people say is great, I disagree with them because to me some of it
sounds like it is stuck in the 70s.

So that is why I said I liked AoI a lot and not Transatlantic. If
Leonardo sounds like 70s prog, there is a good chance I won't like
it ... although I do like the new Shadow Gallery; to me that doesn't
sound "stuck" in any time period, although I hear Kansas and Styx
elements. (I *do* like those bands) :)

because they play it through once on the first disc, then go to say how
they "fucked it up" (MP), and then they go back for their encore to do a
"fix-up on a fuck-up" (MP again), leaving us with two slightly (& i
emphasize slightly) different performances of Silent Man within the same
show. not too shabby IMO. great show all around though that really lets
you see the personal/easy-going side of the band when there onstage &
relaxed in an intimate venue. quality stuff all around. the version that
i have is the "Acoustic Dreams" double disc, but it's the same show, and
probably the same quality as far as i know. hope you enjoy it as much as
    i have.
