So for the past two years around Christmas time everyone on the jam starts
talking about TSO. Is there somewhere I can sample some tunes?

Not to fear. The East group has Chris Caffery, and the amazing Alex
Skolnick on guitars! Not to mention Jeff Plate on drums.

    Eli,

King Crimson is my favorite band, period (60+ discs and counting). I recommend them hands down. If you like heavy isntrumental rock, then definately go! They're playing new music on this tour (not available except on a CD for sale only at the shows), including one of their new instrumentals, Level 5, that is supposed to be one heavy ass instrumental.....heavier than Larks Tongues In Aspic Part IV which is an awesome nonstop wall of sounds instrumental. Not LTE type shred instrumental, these are more, I think, low-end rhythm based than lead based shred fests. Then, of course, there's Deception of The Thrush....and any improvisations they do. Connection here....Tony Levin (of LTE) was bass/stick player for King Crimson on their 80s and 90s releases. But is not part of the lineup at the moment.

Anyhow...sorry to babble....but I feel the need to come out of my hole for a big shout of support for my favorite band.

Great, although Johnny Lee M. III might be cooler in person. :)

There's a fair chance I'll be there, depending on my work schedule, since I might be working that night. But, being the city's only decent metal deejay has its perks; a friends' band is opening the show and hopefully can get me in fer free. :)

I'm certainly one of the two Graham Bs on the list. I am almost as cool as the other one.

Absolutely. I'm very excited about the new DT CD as well as the others that have heard the song. It's gonna be greatness.

Hey guys, i checked out this new site: www.progfreaks.com they currently have an interview with James labrie about Mullmuzler 2, but it has tons of other cool interviews, and reviews of bands that i haven't even heard of (but i'm sure many of you have). Pretty good news and recommendations.....not to mention the LENGHTY reviews of the albums features in their Hall of Fame. Gosh, i loved the layout and the writing.

anyway, i end the shameless plug here......it's just that i suppose that this site isn't very well known around here, and might interest more than one guy (me!)

greetings jammers, i'm sitting here right now listening to one of the most incredible displays of musicianship on a bass guitar i have ever heard. it's by a man named Mark Egan, and i have never heard anything about this guy before i heard this disk. i was browsing through the cd's in the local public library, and in the jazz section i saw a cd cover that pictured a guy holding a double-neck bass (4 & 8 string). i snagged it up, and he's unbelievable. the name of the album is "a touch of light", and it is some of the most complex, but melodic bass work i've ever heard, with occassional ventures into a more virtuoso-flare. the whole disk has a mellow, laid back jazz atmosphere about it, & i would recommend this to anyone, especially bassists. anyone else ever hear of this guy??? has he done anything else??? if so, what??? thanks.
